This paper describes present research conditions and plans of transmission and substation department in KEPCO. We describe an overview of general status of research environment in KEPRI. And we describe the results of the research in 1999, items of the research in 2000 and research plans of the long and short terms in transmission and substation department.

This paper deals with simulation of lightning overvoltage generated by back flashover entering 345[kV] Gas Insulated Substation. In order to protect the substation equipment against lightning surge, insulation coordination is performed with the lightning arrester. This paper suggests optimal location of lightning arrester using the EMTP/ATPDraw to mere economically and effectively reduce the lightning surge incoming overhead lines.

This paper presents the analysis of current limiting performance of superconducting fault current limiter(SCFCL) for real substation. The resistive and inductive type SCFCLs are investigated for 154㎸ substation. The current limiting performance of SCFCL is evaluated with respect to the time constant of SCFCL and impedance of SCFCL.

This paper proposes a method for seeking the scheme of substation restoration by using genetic algorithm. Genetic algorithm (GA), first introduced by John Holland, is becoming an important tool in machine learning and function optimization. GA is a searching or optimization algorithm based on Darwinian biological evolution principle. As a test system, we assume a simple substation system and for the transformer fault, the result is obtained.

The substation automation is a system to remote-monitor and control electric power flow. And in line with electrification of railway, an interest in electric railway substation automation is increasing. IEC standardized IEC 61850, IEC 61968 and IEC 61970 communication protocol for the telecommunication standardization of the electric power automation industry. The recent SCADA systems in managed electric railway substations are have the problem about the compatibility with the products which fit to the international standard specification afterward. In this paper, the model of electric railway substation automation based on IEC 61850 and IEC 61970 is presented. And the method supporting the compatibility between the equipment is proposed.

국민복지 증진 및 경제발전의 원동력이 되는 전력사업 수행과 관련하여 신규건설 대상지역을 중심으로 한 지역주민들의 건설반대 민원은 끊임없이 발생되고 있다. 더구나 국민생활수준 향상에 따른 사회적 욕구가 높아지고 인터넷, 휴대폰 등 대중매체가 급속도로 발달함에 따라 전력설비 건설에 대한 반감은 심화되고 있으며 전국적으로 조직화 되는 양상을 보이고 있는 실정이다. 이에 송전선로 및 변전소 건설 전 후 자계값을 실제로 측정하여 국민들에게 제시함으로써, 전력설비 건설사업의 투명성과 신뢰성을 확보하기 위하여 본 연구진행을 추진하게 되었다.

This paper discusses the effect according to the change of grounding system modeling in substation. Substation grounding system is modelled by CDEGS and EMTP. Node voltages of grounding system is variously analysed by 3 grounding cases and 4 kinds of transient frequency ranges. The results of this paper will contribute to advance the grounding system modeling of substation in the range of high frequency transient such as lightning surge.

본 논문은 고속전철 차량에서부터 변전소까지의 고조파에 대해서 분석하였으며, 수동필터를 이용한 고조파 저감 방법을 제시한다. 고속전철 변전소가 공급하는 열차구간에 있어서 운행 열차의 수에 따라 고조파의 파급 특성을 살펴보았다. 고조파는 변압기 과열과 통신유도장해 등 문제를 일으킬 수 있다. 이러한 고조파에 의한 손상을 줄이기 위하여 본 논문은 고조파 저감방법을 제시하였다. 제안된 방법은 PSCAD/EMTDC 시뮬레이션에 의해 증명되었다.

IEC 61850 based substation automation system is operating under digital network with a number of IEDs and a HMI as relation of server and client. In case of IEDs, before implementing the system, all of the system integrators require IEC 61850 certificate from individual IED manufacture. Otherwise, there is nothing to verify IED for constructing substation automation system at the real substation. This paper shows verification strategy of IEC 61850 communication reliability such as association /release, report, dataset and four type control function.

Recently, there has been a growing interest in the environmental conservation. Accordingly, problems related to the audible noise of transformers have became more frequent. Therefore, it is urgent to find a fundamental solution about the audible noises in the substations. This paper described a sort of fundamental solution to solve the noise problem. As a fundamental solution, we suggested the proper audible noise level of transformers through noise prediction in the substation construction phase. And we applied the low noise transformers which have the predicted noise level. As the result, we are able to satisfy the noise regulation through measuring 43.6dBA at the boundary of substation. It is confirmed that the average error rate of prediction was within 3 percent.
