지난 5년여 동안, 우리나라 인터넷 전화 서비스는 800만 여명을 넘어서는 가입자를 확보할 정도로 괄목할 만한 급성장을 해 왔다. 최근 들어서는 개인 가입자 보다는 기업 또는 기관 가입자의 증가가 두드러지고 있다. 이렇게 규모가 커진 인터넷 전화 서비스에서 119와 같은 긴급서비스의 적절한 지원은 매우 긴요하다. 현 우리나라 인터넷 전화망에서 긴급 서비스 호가 접수대에 착신 시 제공되는 단말의 위치 정보는 사용자에 의해 가입 시 입력되거나 단말 이동 사용 시 갱신된 정보에 의존한다. 사용자의 개입이 요구되는 이러한 수동 위치 제공 방식은 사용자가 정보 입력을 태만히 하거나 잘못 입력하는 경우 구조 및 구급에서 치명적인 실패를 야기 시킬 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이더넷 기반 기업 인터넷 전화망에서 긴급 서비스 지원시 네트워크에서 자동으로 위치 정보를 제공하는 개선된 위치 정보 제공 방식을 제안한다.

As the high-speed internet access market steadily nears its maturity phase, growth is quickly tapering off and competition, intensifying. As a result telecommunications companies are at present faced with the urgent need to evolve away from a growth model based on continuous acquisition of new subscribers. The recent convergence of telecommunication and broadcasting has come about precisely at this transitional period in the telecommunications market, and is perceived by the industry both as a new business opportunity and as a threat. TV-based VOD(Video on Demand), for one, is able to attract new customers desiring multimedia services of superior quality and to lock-in existing customers. Meanwhile, the latest evolution in network development is brightening the market prospect for TV-based VOD. The service has now hit the market, deployed over VDSL networks - a next-generation high-speed internet - and advanced cable modem networks, delivering high-definition DVD-quality videos. TV-based VOD is a service whose deployment is closely linked to the evolution of subscriber networks. According to the forecast produced by the present study, based on the forecast on the post-ADSL market and a survey conducted on VOD, as post-ADSL subscribers increase from 1.53 million in 2003 to 4.44 million in 2004, and 9.87 million in 2006, the percentage of post-ADSL subscribers with intention to also subscribe to a VOD service is expected to rise from 16% to 34% in 2006. Accordingly, VOD subscribers are estimated to increase from 0.24 million in 2003 to 0.98 million in 2004 and to 3.35 million in 2006.

International Roaming is a kind of telecommunication service that enables subscribers use the same mobile number when they go abroad and access other service provider's network. International roaming call is made through three network parts-home (original service provider) network, intermediate network, and local (overseas service provider) network. It is not possible to monitor every section of whole roaming service network because service providers do not provide their network management information to other service providers. The limitation causes harsh problem when a service anomaly arises and operators have to confirm the reason of failure. To solve this problem, we propose a scheme that deduces roaming service status of each overseas service provider using internal network management information. SK telecom implemented a international roaming service management system based on the scheme using performance measurement of signaling points, roaming service nodes, and charging data from existing network management systems.

Policy introducing open access to the wireless network has been under discussion in the Korean mobile telecommunications industry. The policy, which directs mobile operators to allow mobile portals other than their own ones to access their network and subscribers, is expected to vitalize mobile Internet market through competition among portals. This study analyzes the impact of the policy in terms of welfare of mobile Internet users and profit of mobile contents providers. The multistage wavelength division multiplexed passive optical network (WDM-PON) with multiple remote nodes (RN) can accommodate widely spread subscribers efficiently and it increases the channel usage. We implemented a multistage RN using band add-drop filters and it was applied to a wavelength-locked Fabry-Petor laser diode based gigabit WDM-PON.

In order to meet the customers'emerging demands for more bandwidth and diverse IP multimedia applications including high definition(HD) video streaming service, KT presents innovative FTTP solution using WDM-PON system. FTTP comprises an OLT inside the central office, a fiber optic distribution network including a passive remote node in the outside plant, and ONU installed on the pole or wall of customers premise. The passive remote node is located in a manhole near the subscribers and does not require any electrical power supply. And finally, UTP cable is connected from ONU to subscribers'IP appliances like PC or HGW or IP-STB. KT finished its FTTP trial service in 2004 and commercial deployment has begun since 2005. With this FTTP solution, each subscriber can enjoy high-speed internet service with speeds of up to symmetric 100 Mbit/s and various IP media applications including HD quality IP video streaming service and high quality video phone service.

In this paper, the affecting factors of the access demand for the cellular service are derived, and the access demand function of the cellular service is estimated. The results obtained in this study are as follows: First, the price (access charge) and the income elasticities of cellular services there exists a network externality in cellular communication services. Third, the technological capability of the service provider has played an essential role in expanding the size of subscribers. Fourth, the access demand of cellular communication service is not sensitive to the usage charge. According to the above results, it can be inferred that if the access charge is lowered, the number if subscribers will increase to the critical mass, and then the cellular communication market will grow up to a saturation point naturally.

A passive Optical Network (PON) is famous for the most cost-efficient solution among the optical networks. This is because there is no active device between a central office and subscribers. A wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) offers each subscriber to feel unlimited bandwidth. A WDM-PON, however, has a cost problem that WDM-PON is used commercially. To solve this trouble, it is surveyed that a Sub-Carrier Multiplexing (SCM) used in a WDM-PON increases the number of subscribers. The performance of WDM/SCM-PON varies with various noises. The several FEC Codes can reduce the effects of noise and improve the performance of the system. Thus, Choosing a suitable FEC code is important work. This paper describes that a Reed-Solomon (RS) code is the most suitable code for WDM/SCM-PON at the object of 100 Mbps and $10^{-9}$ BER

Even though Internet phone service (IPS) continues to evolve in terms of quality and competitive pricing compared with the public switched telephone network (PSTN), the number of Internet phone subscribers is still low in South Korea. The Korean government decided to apply number portability to the IPS market in 2008. This study expresses its value in monetary terms with a contingent valuation approach. With this methodology, this study investigates the willingness of 316 current PSTN subscribers to pay for IPS, using a specific survey method called double-bounded dichotomous choices, to obtain more accurate data. The results show that the calculated value of Internet phone number portability positively impacts consumer welfare.

TDX-1A의 용량을 2배로 증대시킨 전전자교환기 TDX-1B의 가입자 및 신호처리계는 rack당 최대 1024 가입자를 수용하여 가입자 회선을 스위치 네트워크에 정합하기 위해 필요한 기능 및 가입자에 필요한 신호를 공급하는 기능을 수행하는 subsystem으로서, 가입자회로, 집선장치, 신호장치 및 이의 제어를 위한 프로세서들로 구성된다. 본 고에서는 이러한 TDX-1B 가입자 및 신호처리계의 개발 내역 및 주요기능, 개발 성과에 대하여 기술하였다.
