  • This research aims to analyze and compare the objective and subjective evaluation criteria for home appliances. In addition, this research examined the correlation between those evaluation criteria. Furthermore, consumers are divided by the level of the differences between those criteria; consumer groups whose subjective evaluation level for the quality of home appliances is greater than objective evaluation level, consumer groups whose subjective evaluation level is almost the same, and consumer groups whose subjective evaluation level for the quality of home appliances is lower than objective evaluation level, and this study investigated the differences those three groups by the socio-demographic characteristics and consumers' behavior in the stage of purchase. Results of this research could be summarized as follows. First of all, there were statistically significant between the level of the objective and subjective evaluation in the quality of home appliances. Second, when consumers purchased the expensive home appliance, imported-brand home appliance, home appliances in department store, the level of subjective evaluation level for the quality of home appliances is higher than objective evaluation level. Third, the level of satisfaction for the price, quality, AS, overall satisfaction, and the level of willingness to repurchase were higher in consumer groups whose subjective evaluation level was higher than objective evaluation level.

  • Speech quality measurement is sorted subjective and objective speech quality measurements based on the mathematics representation. Between two, subjective speech quality measurement is able to be evaluated more accurate speech quality then objective one but it has a demerit such as taking much more time and cost to performance it. However, using objective speech quality measurement being able to predict the result of evaluating the subjective speech quality compliments the demerit of subjective standards which is mentioned former. In this paper, we propose the objective speech quality measurement in order to evaluate naturalness assessment approximately like subjective speech quality measurement. We measured naturalness of speech with estimating speaking rate, variation of pitch and energy.

  • For the set up, management and repair of a mobile communication system, continuous estimation of speech quality is required. Speech quality measurement can be conducted by listener's judgement in a subjective test such as MOS (Mean Opinion Score) test. However, this method is laborious, expensive and time-consuming, it is advisable to predict subjective speech quality via objective measures. This paper presents a robust objective speech quality measure, PLP-CMS (Perceptual Linear Predictive-Cepstral Mean Subtraction), which can predict subjective speech quality in mobile communication systems. PLP-CMS has a high correlation with subjective quality owing to PLP (Perceptual Linear Predictive) analysis and shows a robust performance not being influenced by PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) channel effects due to CMS (Cepstral Mean Subtraction). To prove the performance of our proposed algorithm, we carried out subjective and objective quality estimation on speech samples which are variously distorted in a real mobile communication system. As a result, we demonstrated that PLP-CMS has a higher correlation with subjective quality than PSQM (Perceptual Speech Quality Measure) and PLP-CD (Perceptual Linear Predictive-Cepstral Distance).

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors affecting the subjective quality of life among college students from China. Methods: The research design was a descriptive survey design using convenience sampling. Data was collected by using a self-questionnaire completed by 304 Chinese students located in three cities, namely, Seoul, Gangneung, and Seosan. ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and hierarchical multiple regression with the SPSS Win 12.0 Program were used to analyze the data. Results: The average score on subjective quality of life was $3.59{\pm}0.43$. There were significant differences in the subjective quality of life according to length of stay, type of program, and health status. The subjective quality of life had significant negative correlation with acculturative stress and positive correlation with social support. The explained variance for the subjective quality of life was 51.5%. Variables on health status, guilt feelings, other acculturative stress, and social support significantly predicted the degree on subjective quality of life. Conclusion: Findings on this study provide a comprehensive understanding on the subjective quality of life and related factors for Chinese students in Korea. However, further studies with a larger random sample and more detailed research design is necessary.

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between sleep physiological signals data and subjective feeling of sleep quality. Sixteen subjective were investigated and they slept on both comfortable mattress and uncomfortable mattress. Information of sleep stage is one of the most important clues for sleep quality. Polysomnography is basically the recording of sleep. The several channels of brain waves (EEG), eyes (EOG), chin movements (EMG) and heart (ECG) were monitored. Sixteen subjects spent 6 days and nights in the laboratory and the data of sleeping 7h for each of 3 nights was analyzed. Percentage of deep sleep (III and IV, sleep efficiency, WASO, stage 1 and subjective feeling of sleep quality were significantly affected with mattress types (comfortable and uncomfortable mattress). When subjects slept on comfortable beds, percentage of deep sleep and sleep efficiency were higher than those of uncomfortable bed. The percentages of wake after sleep onset and stage 1 were lower when subject slept in a comfortable bed. The subjective feeling of sleep quality agreed with the recorded sleep data also.
