  • Ageism, attitudes toward aging, and body satisfaction play significant roles in determining older women's perceptions of successful aging. In addition, subjective socioeconomic and health status can act as major identifiers in determining the overall level of physical and social well-being in old age. Research for this exploratory study includes: 1) exploring the overall levels of ageism perception, attitudes toward aging, and body satisfaction among older women and 2) identifying the differences in ageism, attitudes toward aging, and body satisfaction between high and low subjective socioeconomic and health status of older women. Data for this study were collected through an online questionnaire of 221 older women. The results revealed that older women's perceptions of ageism, aging attitudes, and body satisfaction were significantly different based on subjective socioeconomic and health status. In general, older women with higher levels of subjective socioeconomic and health status reported more positive perceptions and attitudes toward aging along with higher levels of body satisfaction. The results implied that subjective health status was a more powerful indicator differentiating the aging-related perceptions of older women than the subjective socioeconomic status. This study supports the need for a conscious effort to reduce ageism that ultimately improves the overall well-being of all members in society.

  • The purpose of this study is to find how the factors of "Grief of loss" affect on the subjective well-being of elderly('the satisfaction with life', 'the positive affect', 'the negative affect). One hundred of subjects, over age 65, participated in the survey and we could find that the "Grief of loss" was composed of four sub-factors('economical loss', 'loss from being parted by death', 'loss of physical functions', 'loss of relations'). These four sub-factors of "Grief of loss" showed negative correlations with the scores of the satisfaction with life. However, three other sub-factors except 'loss from being parted by death' showed negative correlations with the scores of 'the positive affect'. On the other hand, other three sub-factors except 'economical loss' showed positive correlations with the scores of 'the negative affect'. Especially, the 'economical loss' was affecting on 'the negative affect' and 'the positive affect' significantly. Also, 'loss of relations' was affecting on both 'the negative affect' and 'the satisfaction with life''. Two out of the four sub-factors, 'economical loss' and 'loss from being parted by death', showed no significant effects on the subjective well-being. This results insists us that the emotional supports, especially from their offspring, are truly important for elderly to overcome their Grief of loss('loss of physical functions', 'loss of relations')

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate if subjective well-being could be improved by visiting urban forests near residential areas. Because visiting an urban forest is not an intense positive experience, this research is focused on frequency of affective experience rather than intensity. The independent variables are number of visits and length of stay. The dependent variables are positive affect, negative affect, and life satisfaction. A polling agency was employed to select 600 respondents by quota sampling, and data was collected by online survey. The results of ANOVA showed that there was no interaction between the number of visits and length of stay. Regardless of the number of visits, the subjective well-being of visitors of urban forests was enhanced: (a) positive affect of respondents who had visited in the past 2 weeks was increased while negative affect was decreased, and (b) life satisfaction for those who had visited at least 1 time per month was enhanced among usual visitors. The stay of length, however, had little effect on the increase or decrease of these three variables. The results of this study support the existing theory that one could reset their genetically determined happiness set point to a higher level by participating in intentional activities such as visiting urban forests that offer ways to achieve long-lasting changes in well-being. This means that it would be a valuable government investment to construct and maintain urban forests for improving citizens' welfare. A few comments were suggested regarding data collection and inclusion of influencing variables to make future subjective well-being studies more reliable.

In order to achieve it, 493 university students(220 male, 232 female) completed a set of questionnaires about time pressure, discretionary time, subjective well-being. The t-test, multiple regression analysis were performed to analyze the data. The results are as follows. First, There were significant differences among the positive emotion, the negative emotion and time pressure. However, there was no statistically significant difference between the satisfaction of life and discretionary time according to gender. Second, time pressure was negatively correlated with the satisfaction of life of university students but positively correlated with the negative emotion. The discretionary time was positively correlated with the satisfaction of life of university students but negatively correlated with the negative emotion. Time pressure and discretionary time were not correlated with the positive emotion. Finally time pressure significantly correlated with the satisfaction of life, the negative emotion. And It seems that time pressure had an especially strong effect on the negative emotion. Such results imply that time pressure is important for reducing university students's the negative emotion, a subfactor of subjective wellbeing.

Through this, we conducted three results. Frist, the leisure motivation scale was factor analyzed and consequently 2 factors which can be considered as leisure motivation were prescribed. Also through the responded data, leisure activity of university students showed much more passive activity(e.g.,reading, listening music, movie, watching TV, Internet surfing etc.) than positive and physically activity. Second, each motivation was not significant in self-efficacy. Finally, among the motivation, especially emotion and psychological rest motivation was significant in the subjective wellbeing. • This study used a quasi-experimental method to investigate if both travel involvement and the degree of recall of a traumatic event affect subjective well-being. For this, independent variables such as positive affect, negative affect, and life satisfaction were established. Four waves of data collection were performed with two to three weeks intervals, then the collected longitudinal data were analysed by repeated measure ANOVA. The study results indicated that travel involvement increases positive affect and life satisfaction, with the effect lasting four weeks or more, which means that travel is an effective tool to boost subjective well-being. Respondents who thought about a traumatic event more frequently had a much higher negative affect following the disaster, and such increased negative affect was maintained over seven weeks or longer. Therefore, this study finds that negative events produce larger, more consistent, or more lasting effects than positive events. As well as travel participation, visiting an urban park is a pleasurable experience. Therefore, the study also finds that urban parks could be utilized for increasing and maintaining subjective well-being in the middle and long term as well as lessening personal stress.

The researcher participated in the groups once per week and an assignment was suggested once per week. Repeated Measurement Two-way Repeated Measures ANOVA was conducted to confirm the differences according to periods and groups for the data analysis method. In order to examine the changes according to periods, t-test was conducted on the pre- and post-test. Results: The findings are as follows: First, regarding awareness of imaginations and decentering, the reading mind recording group showed a significant result in repeated measurement. Second, the reading mind recording group showed a significant decrease in the pre- and post-t-test about parenting stress. Third, all the reading mind recording group and expressive writing group showed significant results about subjective well-being.
