A two-step recovery method was developed to produce copper powders from copper chloride waste solution as byproducts of MoO$_3$ leaching process. The first step consisted of replacing noble copper ions with external Fe$^{3+}$ ions which were formed by dissolving iron scraps in the copper chloride waste solution. The replaced copper ions were subsequently precipitated as copper powders. The second step was cementation of entire solution mixture to separate (pure) copper powders from aqueous solution of iron chloride. Cementation process variables of temperature, time, and added amount of iron scraps were optimized by using design of experiment method and individual effects on yield and efficiency of copper powder recovery were investigated. Copper powders thus obtained from cementation process were further characterized using various analytical tools such as XRD, SEM-EDS and laser diffraction and scattering methods.Cementation process necessitated further purification of recovered copper powders and centrifugal separation method was employed, which successfully yielded copper powders of more than 99% purity and average 1$\sim$2$\mu$m in size.

The A106 Gr B low carbon steel, which was used in the electric power plants and heavy chemical plants, was welded by multi-pass arc welding. The heat affected zone (HAZ) formed by welding was corroded in acid chloride solution, or in saturated $H_2S$ containing acid chloride solution, or in saturated $H_2S$ containing acid chloride solution under applied current. In this order of corrosion solution, the rate of corrosion increased, because $H_2S$ accelerated the iron dissolution, hydrogen evolution, and the formation of nonprotective FeS, whereas the applied current accelerated the electrochemical reaction. The scales formed in acid chloride solution consisted primarily of $Fe_3O_4$, while those formed in $H_2S$ containing acid chloride solution consisted primarily of $Fe_3O_4$ and FeS.
The effect of solution temperature and nitrogen form on cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) growth, photosynthesis and nitrogen metabolism was investigated in hydroponic culture. Cucumber plants were grown for 35 days in a greenhouse at three constant solution temperatures ($15^{\circ}C$, $20^{\circ}C$, and $25^{\circ}C$) within a natural aerial temperature ($15-30^{\circ}C$). Four nitrate:ammonium ($NO{_3}^-:NH{_4}^+$) ratios (10:0, 8:2, 5:5, and 2:8 $mmol{\cdot}L^{-1}$) at constant nitrogen (N) concentration of $10mmol{\cdot}L^{-1}$ were applied within each solution temperature treatment. Results showed an increasing solution temperature enhanced plant growth (height, dry weight, and leaf area) in most N treatments. Dry weight accumulation was greatest at the 10:0 $NO{_3}^-:NH{_4}^+$ ratio in the $15^{\circ}C$ solution, the 5:5 ratio in the $20^{\circ}C$ solution and the 8:2 ratio in the $25^{\circ}C$ solution. Photosynthetic rate (Pn) response to solution temperature and $NO{_3}^-:NH{_4}^+$ ratio was similar to that of plant growth. Probably, the photosynthate shortage played a role in the reduced biomass formation. Increasing solution temperature enhanced the nitrate reductase (NR) activity, and further reduced shoots nitrate content. Our results indicate that the optimal ratio of nitrate to ammonium that promotes growth in hydroponic cucumber varies with solution temperature.

This study was conducted to determinean optimal soaking solution for inhibiting the texture softening of shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei pressured at high temperature (S-P/HT) in a retort, and also to optimize concentrations of 0.5% calcium chloride (CC) and 5.0% potato starch (PS) for preparation of a mixed solution (MS) and soaking time (ST) in the MS. On the basis of the results of expressible drip (4.6%), water holding capacity (95.1%), hardness (18.4 N/cm2) and sensory texture (7.2 score), the MS was found to be the optimal soaking solution for inhibition of texture softening under S-P/HT conditions, The concentrations of CC (X1, %), PS (X2, %), and ST (X3, min) were selected as independent variables, and hardness (Y1), springiness (Y2) and sensory texture (Y3) were selected as dependent variables. The optimal conditions of X1, X2, and X3 were 0.51%, 6.34%, and 364 min, respectively. Under the optimal conditions, the experimental values of Y1, Y2 and Y3 were 18.3±0.8 N/cm2, 4.4±0.3 mm and 7.7±0.2, respectively, which did not diffr significantly from the predicted values (P>0.05). In conclusion, the optimized models of X1, X2, and X3 for the preparation of S-P/HT using CC-PS were suitably fitted.
Soil washing with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) is highly effective in the remediation of soils contaminated with heavy metals. The EDTA recycling process is a requisite for reducing the operating cost. The applicability of Na2S addition on the precipitation of heavy metals from the spent soil washing solution and thereby recycling of EDTA was investigated. Addition of Na2S into the single metal-EDTA and the mixed metal-EDTA solutions ([Na2S]/[metal-EDTA] ratio = 30, reaction time = 30 min and pH = 7~9) was highly effective in the separation of Cu and Pb from metal-EDTA complexes, but not for Ni. The Zn removal efficiency varied with pH and slightly increased upto 40% as the reaction time increased from 0 to 240 min which was longer than those for Cu and Pb. Ca(OH)2 was subsequently added to induce further precipitation of Zn and Ni and to reduce the Na2S dose. At the [Na2S]/[metal-EDTA] ratio of 10, the removal efficiencies of all heavy metals excluding Ni were above 98% with the dose of Ca(OH)2 at 0.002, 0.006 and 0.008 g into 100 mL of Cu-, Pb- and Zn-EDTA solutions, respectively. However, Ca(OH)2 addition was not effective for Ni-EDTA solution. A further research is needed to improve metal removal efficiency and subsequent EDTA recycling for the real application in field-contaminated soils.
Supercritical $CO_2$($scCO_2$) extraction has a great possibility to be a new process to recover metal and to replace the existing leaching/solvent extraction processes. The cobalt extraction was carried out using $scCO_2$ from cobalt sulphate solution. The bis (2,4,4-trimethylpentyl) phosphinic acid and diethylamine ligands were used to extract cobalt ion in $scCO_2$. The recommended method consists of $scCO_2$/extractants complexation process and metal extraction process at 60, 200bar. Experimental results showed that the extraction efficiency of Co was increased by 16-99% with increasing the ligand amount.
To precipitate the complex gels of the pH 6, 7, 8, 9 included in a flux and an aluminum hydroxides gel, an aqueous solution of a mixture of $Na_2CO_3\;and\;Na_2PO_4{\cdot}12H_2O$ was added with stirring in an aqueous solution of a mixture of $Al_2(SO_4){_3}{\cdot}18H_2O,\;Na_2SO_4\;and\;K_2SO_4$, and then the complex gels were aged in 20 h at $90^{\circ}C$. As the hydrolysis pH changed, it had an effect on the physical properties such as the crystal structure, crystal morphology and a phase transition temperature of the AlO(OH) gel, and also on the crystal structure, crystal morphology, particle size and particle size distribution of the ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ platelets prepared by molten-salt precipitation. Also, in this study, the complex gels were crystallized at $1,200^{\circ}C$ and thereafter dried at $110^{\circ}C$, and then it was investigated to effect of the hydrolysis pH on the crystal structure, morphology and particle size distribution of the ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ platelets crystals using XRD, DTA, SEM and particle size analyzer.
High porous AlO(OH) gel is used in precursor of ceramic material, coating material and porous catalyst. For use of these, not only physiochemical control for particle morphology, pore characteristic and peptization but also studies of synthetic method for preparation of high porous AlO(OH) gel were required. In this study, high porous AlO(OH) gel was prepared through the aging and filtration process of aluminum hydroxides gel precipitated by the hydrolysis reaction of $Na_2CO_3$ solution and $Al_2(SO_4)_3$ and $Na_2SO_4$ mixed solution. In this process, optimum synthetic condition of AlO(OH) gel having excellent pore volume as studying the effect of hydrolysis pH on gel precipitates has been studied. Hydrolysis pH brought about numerous changes on crystal morphology, surface area, pore volume and pore size. Physiochemical properties of gel were investigated as using XRD, TEM, TG/DTA, FT-IR and $N_2$ BET method.

The precursor powders with thin wall structure were prepared by spray pyrolysis from the spray solution with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, citric acid and $NH_4Cl$ flux. The $BaMgAl_{10}O_{17}:Eu$ phosphor powders formed from the spray solution without organic additives and flux material had sizes of $1{\sim}5{\mu}m$ and hollow structure with high thickness at post-treatment temperature of $1,200^{\circ}C$. However, $BaMgAl_{10}O_{17}:Eu$ phosphor powders formed from the spray solution with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, citric acid and $NH_4Cl$ flux had fine size and plate-like shape. The mean crystallite sizes of the phosphor powders with fine sizes were 23, 35, and 33 nm when the content of $NH_4Cl$ flux were 0, 6, 35 wt% of phosphor. The photoluminescence intensity of the phosphor powders formed from the spray solution with the optimum amount of $NH_4Cl$ flux as 35 wt% was 215% of that of the phosphor powders formed from the spray solution without flux material.
$BiFeO_3/Pb(Zr_{0.52}Ti_{0.48})O_3$(BFO/PZT) multilayer thin films have been prepared on a Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si(100) substrate by chemical solution deposition. BFO single layer, BFO/PZT bilayer and multilayer thin films were studied for comparison. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the crystal structure of all films was multi-orientated perovskite phase without amorphous and impurity phase. The leakage current density at 500 kV/cm was reduced by approximately four and five orders of magnitude by bilayer and multilayer structure films, compared with BFO single layer film. The low leakage current density leads to saturated P-E hysteresis loops of bilayer and multilayer films. In BFO/PZT multlayer film, saturated remanent polarization of $44.3{\mu}C/cm^2$ was obtained at room temperature at 1 kHz with the coercive field($2E_c$) of 681.4 kV/cm.
