Experimental study of degradation and biodegradability of oxytetracycline antibiotic in aqueous solution using Fenton process

  • The degradation of aqueous oxytetracycline (OTC) from an aqueous solution antibiotic using H2O2/Fe2+ process was studied in one 1 L batch chemical reactor. The extent of OTC degradation (20 mg/L) was investigated from a known initial pH solution, temperature and the type of catalyst (Fe2+, Fe3+) and for various initial concentrations of OTC, H2O2 and Fe2+. The degradation efficiency achieved was found to be very important (90.82% and 90.63%) at initial pH solution of 3 and 4, respectively. However, the type of catalyst and the reaction temperature had a slight impact on the final degradation of OTC. The results showed that the OTC removal increased with increasing initial H2O2 concentration in the range of 70 to 150 mg/L and initial Fe2+ concentrations in the range of 2 to 5 mg/L. The highest degradation efficiency obtained at ambient temperature was 90.95% with initial concentration of OTC of 10 mg/L, H2O2 = 150 mg/L and Fe2+ = 5 mg/L. Moreover, biodegradability improved from 0.04 to 0.36 and chemical oxygen demand degradation was 78.35% after 60 min of treatment. This study proved that Fenton process can be used for pretreatment of wastewater contaminated by OTC before a biological treatment.

Phase analysis of simulated nuclear fuel debris synthesized using UO2, Zr, and stainless steel and leaching behavior of the fission products and matrix elements

  • Simulated debris was synthesized using UO2, Zr, and stainless steel and a heat treatment method under inert or oxidizing conditions. The primary U solid phase of the debris synthesized at 1473 K under inert conditions was UO2, whereas a (U, Zr)O2 solid solution formed at 1873 K. Under oxidizing conditions, a mixture of U3O8 and (Fe, Cr)UO4 phases formed at 1473 K, whereas a (U, Zr)O2+x solid solution formed at 1873 K. The leaching behavior of the fission products from the simulated debris was evaluated using two methods: the irradiation method, for which fission products were produced via neutron irradiation, and the doping method, for which trace amounts of non-radioactive elements were doped into the debris. The dissolution behavior of U depended on the properties of the debris and aqueous solution for immersion. Cs, Sr, and Ba leached out regardless of the primary solid phases. The leaching of high-valence Eu and Ru ions was suppressed, possibly owing to their solid-solution reaction with or incorporation into the uranium compounds of the simulated debris.

Hydrophobic modification conditions of Al2O3 ceramic membrane and application in seawater desalination

  • 1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorodecytriethoxysilane (C16H19F17O3Si) be successfully applied to the hydrophobic modification of Al2O3 tubular ceramic membrane. Taking the concentration of modification solution, modification time, and modification temperature as factors, orthogonal experiments were designed to study the hydrophobicity of the composite membranes. The experiments showed that the modification time had the greatest impact on the experimental results, followed by the modification temperature, and the modification solution concentration had the smallest impact. Concentration of the modified solution 0.012 mol·L-1, modification temperature 30 ℃ and modification time 24 h were considered optimal hydrophobic modification conditions. And the pure water flux reached 274.80 kg·m-2·h-1 at 0.1MPa before hydrophobic modification, whereas the modified membrane completely blocked liquid water permeation at pressures less than 0.1MPa. Air gap membrane distillation experiments were conducted for NaCl (2wt%) solution, and the maximum flux reached 4.20 kg·m-2·h-1, while the retention rate remained above 99.8%. Given the scarcity of freshwater resources in coastal areas, the article proposed a system for seawater desalination using air conditioning waste heat, and conducted preliminary research on its freshwater production performance using Aspen Plus. Finally, the proposed system achieved a freshwater production capacity of 0.61 kg·m-2·h-1.

비선형제어계의 선형화에 의한 근사해의 연구 (Approximation method of nonlinear control system by linearization)

  • This paper treats with the sub-optimal control problem of noninear systems by approximation method. This method involves the approximation by linearization which provides the sub-optimal solution of non-linear control problems. The result of this work shows that, in the problem in which the controlled plant is characterized by an ordinary differential equation of first order, the solution obtained by this method coincides with the exact solution of problem. In of case of the second or higher order systems, it is proved analytically that this method of linearization produces the sub-optimal solution of the given problem. It is also shown that the sub-optimality of solution by the method can be evaluated by introducing the upper and lower bounded performance indices. Discussion is made on the procedure with some illustrative examples whose performance indices are given in the quadratic forms.

  • This study has developed an organic/inorganic hybrid solution by addition of $SiO_2$ polysilicate and Melamine to the urethane. The three types of cold rolled steel were evaluated a corrosion resistance properties by using these solutions. The urethane solution(U) and the urethane solution with $SiO_2$ polysilicate($US_7$) were generate a lot of corrosion. The urethane solution with $SiO_2$ polysilicate and melamine($US_7M_3$) was excellent in corrosion resistance, regardless of the steel type. In addition, corrosion resistance has been shown to depend on the tensile strength. The appearance of coating by U and $US_7$ solution is bumpy surface, and were a lot of fine defects. $US_7M_3$ solution is made a sophisticated molecular cross-linking structure inside the coating, it was a slick surface. Other characteristics are exhibited the excellent property for all solutions.

반도체 패키징용 금-코팅된 은 와이어의 부식특성 (Corrosion Characteristics of Gold-Coated Silver Wire for Semiconductor Packaging)

  • In this study, after measuring polarization characteristics of 97.3 wt% Ag, Au-Coated 97.3 wt% Ag (ACA) and 100 wt% Au wires in 1 wt% H2SO4 and 1 wt% HCl electrolytes at 25 ℃, corrosion rate and corrosion characteristics were comparatively analyzed. Comparing corrosion potential (ECORR) values in sulfuric acid solution, ACA wire had more than six times higher ECORR value than Au wire. Thus, it seems possible to use a broad applied voltage range of bonding wire for semiconductor packaging which ACA wire could be substituted for the Au wire. However, since the ECORR value of ACA wire was three times lower than that of the Au wire in a hydrochloric acid solution, it was judged that the use range of the applied voltage and current of the bonding wire should be considered. In hydrochloric acid solution, 97.3 wt% Ag wire showed the highest corrosion rate, while ACA and Au showed similar corrosion rates. Additionally, in the case of sulfuric acid solution, all three types showed lower corrosion rates than those under the hydrochloric acid solution environment. The corrosion rate was higher in the order of 97.3 wt% Ag > ACA > 100 wt% Au wires.

  • 알루미늄 (Al) 금속을 전구체 및 구조체로 이용, 수열 반응을 통하여 Al@Al2O3와 Al@Ni-Al LDH (LDH = layered double hydroxide) 코어-쉘 복합 구조체를 합성하였다. 제조된 구조체의 형상, 조성, 결정 구조는 수용액에 존재하는 이온들에 의하여 크게 영향을 받았으며, 이를 활용하여 다양한 특성의 촉매 구조체 유도가 가능하였다. Al@Ni-Al LDH 코어-쉘 구조체의 환원을 통하여 Ni 나노 입자가 고정화된 Ni/Al@Al2O3 촉매를 제조하였고, CO2 메탄화 반응에 적용하여 촉매의 특성을 평가하였다. Ni/Al@Al2O3 촉매는 전통적 incipient wetness impregnation 방법에 의하여 제조된 Ni/Al2O3 촉매에 비교하여 Ni 입자의 분산도와 균일성이 매우 높았으며 약 2 배 이상의 CO2 전환율로 높은 촉매적 활성과 더불어 구조의 안정성을 보여 주었다. 이러한 Ni/Al@Al2O3 구조체 촉매의 우수한 특성은 Al 금속을 기반으로 한 새로운 개념의 촉매 구조체 설계와 합성 방법의 타당성을 보여준다.

Na2CO3-H2O2 탄산염 용액의 안정성 평가 (Evaluation of Na2CO3-H2O2 Carbonate Solution Stability)

  • 연구는 $Na_2CO_3-H_2O_2$ 탄산염 용액의 숙성시간에 따른 안정성을 U의 산화 용해액, Cs/Re의 선택적 침전 여과액 및 U의 산성화 침전 여과액으로 구분하여 검토하였다. 숙성시간에 따른 산화 용해액 내 조성 변화는 거의 없었으며, Cs/Re의 선택적 침전에도 아무 영향이 없이 산화 용해액으로부터 순차적으로 Re과 Cs의 침전제거가 가능하였다. 그러나 U의 산성화 침전에서는 산화 용해액이나 Cs/Re의 선택적 침전 여과액을 장시간 동안 숙성시킬 경우 U이 uranyl peroxocarbonato complex에서 uranyltricarbonate로 일부 전환되어 U의 침전회수를 감소시켰다. 그러므로 99% 이상의 U을 회수하기 위해서는 산화 용해액 및 Cs/Re의 선택적 침전 여과액의 숙성시간을 각각 7일 이내에서 처리하는 것이 효과적이다. 그리고 SF 의 산화/용해${\rightarrow}$Cs과 Re(/Tc)의 선택적 침전${\rightarrow}$ U의 산성화 침전 등을 순차적으로 수행하여, 산화/용해에서는 대부분의 U과 FP 중 일부가 함께 용해 되었으며, 함께 용해된 FP 중 Re과 Cs은 각각 TPPCl 및 NaTPB로 99% 이상을 침전제거할 수 있었다. 그리고 산성화 (pH 4) 침전에서는 U을 거의 100% 침전회수 하여 $Na_2CO_3-H_2O_2$ 탄산염 용액에서 침전법으로 SF로부터 U 만의 회수 타당성을 확인하였다.

공기와 활성탄 병용에 의한 용액 중 고농도 3가 비소의 산화-침전 거동 연구 (Behavior of Oxidative Precipitation of High-Arsenic (III) Solution Utilizing Activated Carbon with Air Injection)

  • 황화 광석으로부터 유래된 고농도 비소 함유 침출 용액에 대하여 공기와 활성탄 병용을 통해 비소를 산화 및 침전 제거하는 연구를 수행하였다. 침출 용액은 국내 황화 광석 시료를 pH 1, 50℃ 조건의 황산 용액에서 95시간동안 침출하여 제조하였으며, 침출 용액 내 금속이온 농도 분석 결과 Fe가 약 7 g/L, As가 약 3 g/L 함유된 것으로 측정되었다. 해당 용액에 대하여 공기와 활성탄 병용 시 비소의 산화 및 침전 효과를 파악하기 위해 5가지 산화 조건(공기 주입, 공기와 1, 5, 10 w/v% 활성탄 투입, H2O2 투입) 하에 초기 pH 1, 90℃에서 72시간 동안 산화 및 침전 실험을 수행하였다. 실험 결과 공기와 활성탄을 함께 투입한 경우 활성탄 표면에 생성된 작용기로 인해 산화 반응의 속도가 빠르고 비소 제거율이 향상되는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한, 활성탄의 투입량이 증가할수록 반응의 효율이 향상되었으며, 5 w/v% 이상의 활성탄 투입 시 약 93-94%의 비소가 제거된 것으로 분석되었다. 침전 생성물에 대한 XRD 분석 결과 산화 반응에 의해 스코로다이트(FeAsO4·2H2O)가 잘 생성된 것으로 나타났다.

Al-Si-Cu합금의 용체화 처리 온도에 따른 Al2Cu 용해와 용융 현상 (Dissolution and Melting Phenomenon of Al2Cu according to Solution Treatment Temperature of Al12Si3Cu alloy)

  • In this study, dissolution and melting phenomenon of the Al2Cu was studied for the high-strength Al-Si-Cu aluminum alloy in automobile component. The Solution heat treatment was performed at 480℃ and 510℃ for 4hours. Microstructure analysis of the specimen was performed using the optical micrograph and scanning electron microscope for qualitative and quantitative analysis of various phases, the chemical composition of secondary phases was achieved by energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and electron probe micro analysis (EPMA). As a result of the electron probe micro analysis, a plate like Al2Cu phase was observed, and eutectic Si phase was observed of a coarsen plate shape. At a temperature of 510, necking phenomenon occurs in a specific part of plate like Al2Cu, and it is segmented and dissolved in the Al matrix. When the temperature of the alloy exceeds the melting point of Al2Cu, incipient melting occurs at the grain boundary of undissolved Cu particles
