탄소 표면경화처리 구름베어링의 유효 경화 깊이에 대한 고찰 (Study on Effective Case Depth for Case Hardened Rolling Bearings)

  • The effective case depth for case-hardened rolling bearing has been discussed. For this purpose, rolling contact fatigue tests for ball bearings built with inner race of various hardness values were conducted until L10 calculating rating life using a bearing life test machine under radial loading. Then, the distribution of residual stress below the inner raceway, which depended on the hardness value, was measured by X-ray diffraction. As a result, the linear relationship was established between the hardness value of the inner race and the theoretical shear stress evaluated at the depth where the residual stress disappeared below the inner raceway. Based on the relationship, it could be found that the factor of safety in bearing manufacturer’s rules for the effective case depth of case hardened rolling bearings was set higher. However, it could be also found that the hardness values at the depth where the maximum shearing stress acted below the raceway surface in a tapered roller bearing hardened by the carburizing process, were not sufficient for preventing plastic deformation under the basic dynamic load rating. Consequently, further efforts were still required to reduce or to disperse the contact load on the material design of a rolling bearing in order to prolong its life.

가속시험법을 활용한 자동차용 워터펌프 베어링의 수명특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Life Characteristic of an Automotive Water-pump Bearing Using the Accelerated Test Method)

  • A water-pump located in the cooling area of a car circulates cooling water. A particular bearing element, known as a water-pump bearing, installed in the rotating part carries the entire load. The failure of this water-pump bearing has a direct impact on the failure of the automobile engine, and so securing its reliability is crucial. Several researchers have examined the design principles of the water-pump bearing, but there are no reports on the life characteristic of the bearing yet. Herein, we report the construction of test equipment to reproduce the spalling of the roller contact, which is the main failure mode of the chosen water-pump bearing. We chose the radial load as an accelerated stress factor and validated the failure mode by monitoring the surface defects. We conducted the accelerated life test after determining the accelerated stress level through a combination of finite element analysis and a preliminary test. In the life tests, we used an accelerometer to perform failure diagnosis. In the last stage of this study, we present a statistical reliability analysis. Thus, we fully estimated the shape parameter of the water-pump bearing, accelerating level on the load , and the lifetime (MTTF and B10 life) under real use conditions, and finally proposed an interval estimation value considering the uncertainty of the estimated value.

풍력발전기용 피치/요 베어링의 하중 시험 결과 (Loading Test Results of Wind Turbine Pitch/Yaw Bearing)

  • The loading test of wind turbine pitch and yaw bearings have been conducted using special test rig designed for the test of large slewing bearings. Test type was fatigue test that applied fatigue load to each bearing and followed the defined test process. Measurement data during test were rotational torque and raceway temperature, and inspected key components by disassembling the bearing after all test finished. As a results, the raceway temperature during test did not exceed the operational temperature range of lubricant and rotational torque was reduced as the bearing's rotational cycle increased. In the inspection of key components, some plastic deformation and flaking were detected at some raceway sections while other components such as ball, spacer and seal remain indefective conditions.

수명과 강성을 고려한 자동차용 휠 베어링의 설계 최적화 (Design Optimization for Automotive Wheel Bearings Considering Life and Stiffness)

  • Automotive wheel bearings are a critical component of vehicles that support their weight and facilitate rotation. Life and stiffness are significant performance characteristics of wheel bearings. Designing wheel bearings involves finding optimal design variables that satisfy both performances. CO2 emission reduction and fuel efficiency regulations attribute to the recent increase in design requirements for lightweight and compact automotive parts while maintaining performance. However, achieving a design that maintains performance while reducing weight poses challenges, as performance and weight are generally inversely proportional. In this study, we perform design optimization of automotive wheel bearings considering life and stiffness. We develop a program that calculates the basic rated life and modified rated life based on international standards for evaluating the life of wheel bearings. We develop a regression equation using regression analysis to address the time-consuming stiffness analysis during repetitive analysis. We perform ANOVA and main effect analyses to understand the statistical characteristics of the developed regression equation. Furthermore, we verify its reliability by comparing the predicted and test results. We perform design optimization using the developed life prediction program, stiffness regression equation and weight regression equation. We select bearing specifications and geometry as design variables, weight as the cost function, and life and stiffness as constraints. Through design optimization, we investigate the influence of design variables on the cost function and constraints by comparing the initial and optimal design values.

베어링 캡 유한 요소 해석 설계 방법 (Design Methodology of Main Bearing Cap by a Finite Element Analysis)

  • Main bearing cap is one of the essential structural elements in internal combustion engine. Main bearing cap guides and holds the crankshaft, withstanding the full combustion and inertia loads of the engine. A seamless design methodology using FEA has been proposed to produce a reliable design of main bearing cap. A Levy's thick cylinder model was applied to calculate the contact pressure between bearing shell and housing bore. A calculated contact pressure at housing bore is within the allowed limit comparing with that from bearing shell model. An adequate FEA model was suggested to obtain reliable solutions for the durability of main bearing cap. 3D global model consists of engine bulkhead, main bearing cap, and bolts. Sub-model consisting of cap and part of bolts is used to get detailed solution of main bearing cap. A very careful contact modeling practice is needed to resolve the convergence problems frequently encountering during combined geometric and material non-linear problems. A proposed methodology has been applied to the main bearing cap model successfully and obtained reliable stress results and fatigue safety factors.

국내산 함바나듐 티탄자철광으로부터 CaO 배소를 통한 바나듐 침출거동 (Vanadium Leaching Behavior from Domestic Vanadium Bearing Titanomagnetite Ore through CaO Roasting)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내산 함바나듐 티탄자철광으로부터 CaO 염배소 및 황산 침출을 통해 바나듐의 침출거동에 대해 고찰하였다. CaO의 첨가량 및 배소 온도에 따라 상의 변화를 살펴보았다. 배소 조건에 관계없이 Perovskite (CaTiO3)가 형성되었으며, CaO 함량이 높아지면 Calcium ferrite (CaFeOx) 상이 CaO 함량이 낮아지면 Hematite (Fe2O3)가 형성이 되었다. CaO 배소 후 1M 황산, 50℃, 고액비 10%에서 6시간 동안 침출을 진행하였다. 침출 결과 배소 시료의 형태가 소결일 경우 바나듐의 산화가 충분히 이루어지지 못해 침출률이 감소하였다. 또한 배소 온도가 낮으면 미 반응한 잔류 CaO의 영향으로 바나듐의 침출률이 감소하였다. 함바나듐 티탄자철광의 철과 티타늄의 침출률을 낮추기 위해서는 CaO의 첨가량을 최소화하여 CaTiO3와 CaFeOx의 형성을 억제할 필요가 있었다. 결과적으로 1150℃, 10 wt.% CaO 배소 산물을 침출하였을 때 86%의 바나듐, 4.3%의 철, 6.5%의 티타늄의 침출률을 얻을 수 있었다.

사질토를 지나 풍화암에 소켓된 매입 PHC말뚝에서 지반의 허용압축지지력 산정도표 및 산정공식 개발에 관한 연구(VII) - 지반의 허용압축지지력 산정공식 - (Study(VII) on Development of Charts and Equations Predicting Bearing Capacity for Prebored PHC Piles Socketed into Weathered Rock through Sandy Soil Layers - Allowable Axial Compressive Bearing Capacity Formulae -)

  • 사질토를 지나 풍화암에 4D 소켓된 매입 PHC말뚝에 대한 매개변수 수치해석 자료를 분석하여 지지력 표해 및 도해(I)이 제안된 바 있다(Choi et al., 2019a). 본 논문에서는 이를 활용하여 직경의 5% 침하량에서 발현되는 동원지지력을 산정할 수 있는 새로운 산정공식을 제안하였다. 제안식은 두 가지이며, 그 중에서 EQ-G1 제안식은 각각의 상대근입길이(L/D)에서 말뚝직경과 ${\bar{N}}$값(보정 N 값)을 고려하여 각 지지력 성분을 평가하며, 검증 결과는 다음과 같다. RQP는 약 71~94%로 나타났으며, 이는 일반 설계에서 사용하고 있는 지지력 산정공식으로 구한 SRF(26~37%)보다 큰 값을 나타냈다. RQP는 적정 설계의 범위로 분포하였는데, 4개 사례에서는 78, 136, 142, 180%로 나타났다. DE는 β1에 따라 달라질 수는 있는데, 본 연구에서는 0.85로 가정하였으므로 DE는 약 85%로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구에서 제안한 EQ-G1 제안식을 사용하여 PHC말뚝 몸체의 허용압축하중(Pall)까지 활용할 수 있는 적정설계를 수행할 수 있는 것으로 판단된다. 그리고 EQ-G2-3 제안식은 D, ${\bar{N}}$ 및 L/D를 동시에 고려하여 지지력 성분들을 평가할 수 있으며, 매입 PHC말뚝에서 지반의 압축지지력 산정 시 근사해법으로 활용할 수 있다.

  • 본 연구에서는 사질토층을 지나 풍화암에 소켓된 매입 PHC말뚝에 대한 수치해석 결과를 분석하여 정리한 도표 또는 도해로부터 매입 PHC말뚝의 동원지지력을 구하는 방법을 제안하였다. 즉, 수치해석 결과인 하중-침하량 곡선에서 5% 직경에 해당하는 침하량에서 발현된 사질토층의 동원주면마찰력, 풍화암층의 동원주면마찰력과 동원선단지지력을 산정할 수 있는 표해 또는 도해를 제안하였다. 이때 허용압축지지력은 동원 지지력에 안전율 3.0을 적용하여 산정하였다. 사질토층을 지나 풍화암에 소켓된 매입 PHC말뚝의 허용압축지지력은 사질토층의 허용주면마찰력과 풍화암층의 허용주면마찰력 및 허용선단지지력을 합산하여 산정하는 것으로 제안하였고, 각 허용압축지지력 성분을 구할 수 있는 절차도 제시되어 있다. 본 연구에서 제안된 동원지지력 산정용 표해(또는 도해)를 사용할 경우, 적정 설계에서 PHC말뚝의 설계효율(DE)은 85%로 나타났으며, 따라서 최적 설계에서는 PHC말뚝의 장기허용압축하중(Pall) 까지도 활용할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 PHC말뚝의 우수한 압축하중 지지 성능을 효과적으로 활용하기 위하여 지반의 허용압축지지력(Qall)이 말뚝의 허용압축하중(Pall) 이상이 될 수 있도록 설계할 것을 권장하였다.

함수량이 다른 오염지반의 지지력 결정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Conclusion Bearing Capacity ol Polluted Soils Owing to Difference of Water Content)

  • This study, investigates the existing theoretical backgrounds in order to examine the behavior of lateral flow owing to the plasticity of soils when unsymmetrical surcharge is worked on polluted soils by the increase of water content compares and analyzes the results measured through model tests. Unsymmetrical surcharge is increased at regular intervals to soil tank made up the polluted soils and then the amounts of settlement, lateral displacement and upheaval are observed. Critical surcharge was decided q$\sub$cr/= 3.42 C$\sub$u/ similar to those had proposed Terzaghi and JHI, and the value of ultimate capacity was decided q$\sub$ult/= 7.71 C$\sub$u/ similar to that of Tschebotarioff and JHI.

  • The changes of plasma prostaglandin $E_2$ level, natural killer cell activity and tumor cell growth were assayed after transplantation of EL-4 leukemia cells in C57BL/6 mice. The results were summarized as follows; 1. Plasma prostaglandin $E_2$ level was increased in EL-4 bearing mice, but indomethacin treated mice group showed low level. 2. The tumor-derived prostaglandin $E_2$ inhibited the post-target binding cytolytic process of natural killer activity. 3. Indomethacin inhibited the growth of prostaglandin secreting EL-4 solid tumor.
