The purpose of this study is to examine the college students' and married adults' perceptions of the current low fertility and their motivations of parenthood. It also verifies the gender differences in the numbers of planned children between male and female college students. The sample population included 100 unmarried undergraduate students and 100 married adults. The measurements included in the questionnaire were based on recommendations from the literature review. The major findings of this study are as follows: Women reported higher levels of traditional-normal and altruistic-emotional motivations of parenthood than men did. College students reported higher levels of motivations of parenthood to strengthen biological family ties than married adults did, while adults reported higher levels of martial bond-strengthening, traditional-normal, and gene-preservative motivations of parenthood than students did. College students attributed the current low fertility to the tight labor market and high costs of childbirth and rearing while married adults attributed to gender-discriminating traditional family norms, increasing infertility, and poor conditions of pregnancy and childbirth. Female and adult respondents took the social problems caused by the current low fertility more seriously than their counterparts did.
Teacher written feedback on student compositions has received tremendous attention in second language (L2) writing research. Notwithstanding the importance of understanding both teachers' and students' perspectives on the feedback process, much of the feedback research has only looked into one-side of the story - adopting either the teacher's or the student's perspective. The current study is an attempt to look into both sides of the story by examining the types of written feedback that students prefer, the extent to which students' preferences and teachers' actual feedback practice overlap, and the extent to which student perceptions of teacher feedback coordinate teacher self-reflections on their feedback practice. Three English composition classes (3 teachers and 46 students) at a university participated in this study. It analyzed student and teacher data from questionnaires and teacher written feedback on student compositions. The results showed that students' preference for feedback on global and local issues varied across the three composition classes. This is partly a consequence of how students perceived the type of feedback that their teachers practiced. Teacher self-reflection on and student perception of teacher written-feedback generally coordinated. These findings are discussed in light of how contextual factors affect learner perception of teacher written feedback and underscore the need for examining students' reactions to feedback and teacher self-reflection.
This study was designed to examine the satisfaction of high school students with different types of foodservice management programs. The importance and the performance of foodservice management programs were evaluated based on the perceptions of high school students about food service characteristics affecting customer satisfactions. The average score of the attributes affecting the importance of school food service program was $4.27\pm0.49$ and the most important attribute was identified as 'the food safety $(4.68\pm0.67)$', followed by 'the taste of food $(4.66\pm0.65)$'. The average scores of all performance dimensions were lower than 3 point. 'Menu dimension' was rated as the lowest dimension $(2.61\pm0.89)$ and 'Food dimension $(2.79\pm0.70)$' was rated as the highest dimension. Significant differences among different types of foodservice management were perceived by respondents in the overall performance (F=40.244, p<0.001). Students who served by contract-conventional management rated significantly higher performance score on all of the performance attributes than the students served by other types of foodservice management. The results of the importance and the performance analysis present that student satisfaction is affected with the type of foodservice management programs and substantial differences lies between the perceptions of foodservice operations and students.
This study was intended to look into the actual status of using their own traditional clothes, by Korean and Japanese female college students, and to compare the differences of their perceptions about the traditional clothes of their own and the other countries, and thus to present the ways beneficial for Korean female college students to establish their positive recognition toward traditional clothes. For the study, the questionnaire method was used, by which a total of 375 sheets was collected; Frequency analysis and t-test were conducted with a SPSS 12.0 statistic program. The findings were as follows; Korean female college students, in comparison with their Japanese counterparts, owned less traditional clothes suitable and wearable for their body, and so they had a less number of wearing and renting experiences. In addition, they indicated a low level of realization about the suitability of traditional clothes to the wearers in their 10's, 20's and 30's. While they thought highly of their traditional clothes in the item of 'pride,' they had a low level of recognition in the item of 'knowledge,' and they considered the traditional clothes to be inconvenient. Korean college students revealed a lower level of favorable interest in the other country, but they had a higher level of evaluation for the items of 'design applicability' and 'popularity' than the Japanese college students did.
This study aims to survey the perceptions held by students and field workers regarding the clothing-related qualification certificates, which can serve as the base for becoming clothing professionals, to compare and analyze the actual state of qualification certificates on the basic research level, and thus to search for the directions suitable for the clothing-related qualification certificates. The questionnaire method was selected for the study. The responses of 406 copies from students and 81 copies from field workers were used, and frequency analysis and t-test were done with the assistance of spss 10.0 statistics program, The findings are as follows. First, as to the qualification certificates perceived by the students, the certificates of colorist engineer and colorist industrial engineer were known most. 237 students, or 58.4% of the student respondents, had obtained the information about the qualification certificates mainly through the internet and mass media, and 77.3% of the students had a plan to get the qualification certificates. Second, as to the qualification certificates perceived by the field workers, the respondents indicated that school grades(43.2%) would be given the highest additional points at the time of employment, while the clothing-related qualification certificates gathered low responses of 11.1%. The field workers perceived that the qualification certificate of Western suit engineer(pattern) was needed for the job, while 45.4% of them perceived that no qualification certificate was required for the job. Third, both the students and the field workers showed low acquisition levels of the qualification certificates, and in view of their perceptions that the qualification certificates of languages or computer skills were more useful, the improvement is needed in order for the national certificates for the clothing-related skill qualification to develop in the more job-related directions.
Background: The popularity of the water pipe, also referred to as hookah, narghile, shisha or hubble-bubble, has increased tremendously during the past few decades. This study was conducted to determine student water pipe smoking status and perceptions about the effects of water pipe smoking on health in a state university in Ankara. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted between September 2014 and January 2015. The data were collected with a questionnaire and "The Scale of Perception about the Effects of Water Pipe Smoking on Health". The data obtained were evaluated in IBM SPSS (version 20.0) statistical package program in computer. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for the analyses by checking homogeneity of variances and Student's t-test. Values of p<0.05 were considered statistically significant. Results: The total mean score obtained by young people who took part in the study was determined as ($\bar{X}=65.20{\pm}1.25$, min=33, max=75). Upon comparison of the total mean scores obtained by young people from the Scale of Perception about the effects of water pipe smoking on health and gender variable, the scores obtained by the females students were higher than those of the male students with a statistically significant difference (t=7.525, p<0.05). A statistically significant difference was observed between the total mean scores obtained by young people with cigarette and water pipe smoking status (for each, t=-3.731, p<0.05; t=-13.987, p<0.05). Conclusions: In conclusion, university students have wrong knowledge on the dangers of water pipe smoking. There was a high prevalence of using water pipes among university students. Gender significantly affected the perceptions about the effect of water pipe smoking on health in our sample.

The aim of the study is determined to find out how elementary science localization teaching strategy would influence environmental perception of students. In order to fulfill the research purpose, a total of 51 fifth graders from two classes in M Elementary School in U City were divided into a 26 of experimental group and a 25 of comparative group. The study was carried out from September to November of 2012. For the experimental group, an elementary science localization classes were conducted while for the comparative group, a general science classes were performed. The results of the research are presented as follows. First, it was learned that the experimental group with the elementary science localization class would have a significantly and statistically high environmental sensitivity comparing to that of the comparative group. That proves the elementary science localization class's being efficient at improving the students' environmental sensitivity. Second, the experimental group with the elementary science localization class turned out to have a significantly and statistically strong will to protect the environment than the comparative group would do. Such finding says that the elementary science localization class is helpful to enhance the students' will to preserve the environment. In conclusion, the study came to understand that the elementary science localization teaching strategy can improve the environmental perceptions of the students for such elementary science localization class would efficiently encourage environmental interest of the students.
The purpose of this study was to develop a fusion-food cooking program and apply that to sixth grade elementary school students, and to investigate its' effects on their knowledge, preferences, and perceptions of Korean traditional foods. The program focused on ten components. Students learned the general features of Korean traditional foods and Western foods in the 1st lesson. They learnt about kinds, nutrition value, and histories of kimchi, Tteok (rice cake), and Jeon (pan fried food), and cooked two fusion-foods of kimchi, Tteok, and Jeon each. As a result of learning about those food items, the students advanced their knowledge (p < 0.001) of kimchi, Tteok, and Jeon. Their preferences for Tteok (p < 0.05) and Jeon (p < 0.01) were increased, but those for kimchi remained unchanged. The interest (p < 0.05) and preferences (p < 0.01) for the general Korean traditional foods were increased. In conclusion, our results suggested that the fusion-food cooking program had the ability to improve elementary school students' perceptions of Korean traditional foods by increasing their knowledge, preferences, and interest in them. Furthermore it was considered that the program could help students understand the value of Korean traditional foods and in turn may encourage them to consume such food items more frequently. Since the fusion-food cooking activity program can be a good learning program as shown by the results of this study, more fusion-foods cooking activity programs, which are not discussed in this study, should be evaluated and developed in the future.
This study aims at investigating students' perceptions and peer feedback to practicum for teaching English in the English Department at a Korean university. The participants were forty-two students at an elective course, 'Method for teaching English', and the data comprised questionnaire, 12 teams of practicum, and 15 sets of PF. A 'Word Count System (WCS)' was adopted to analyze the data. The findings show that students regarded 'practicum' (52.4%) as more important than 'teacher's lectures' (42.8%), and most students (80%) applied more than 70% of lesson plans to their practicums. The practicum gave them experience of a teacher, development of confidence, recognition on their weaknesses and values of teaching. While the strengths shown in PF were mainly 'teaching methods and technique', 'use of multimedia', and 'teaching materials', the weaknesses were 'classroom interactions', 'teaching methods and techniques' and 'use of blackboard'. Overall praises were 1.8 times more than the matters which needed to be developed. The conclusion suggest that the students had their own insights toward teaching practices and how learners can be motivated.
This study investigated the effects of climate change project learning on elementary students' attitudes toward climate change and environmental literacy. Climate change project learning was conducted on 174 sixth-grade elementary school students in a metropolitan city (77 male, 97 female), after which their perceptions and attitudes toward climate change and environmental literacy were assessed. The climate change project learning had a positive effect on the students' perceptions and attitudes toward climate change, which was surmised because of the climate change content sharing and discussions during the project learning. The climate change project learning also had a positive effect on the students' environmental literacy, especially their environmental attitudes, values, and behavior; however, there were no statistically significant changes found for environmental sensitivity. This study highlights the educational effects and implications of environmentally focused climate change projectbased education for elementary school students.
