The purpose of this study was to investigate dietitians or nutrition teachers' perception of sugar reduction and usage of sugars in school meal service. A survey was conducted for dietitians or nutrition teachers at elementary, middle, and high schools in Gyeonggi and Incheon. Survey data were analyzed according to the experience period and school types of dietitians or nutrition teachers. The numbers of subjects according to work experience period were 134 (44.2%) for <5 years, 68 (22.4%) for ${\geq}5$ and <10 years, and 101 (33.3%) for ${\geq}10years$. Among the subjects, 168 (55.4%) were nutrition teachers at kindergarten/elementary schools, and 135 (44.6%) were at middle/high/special schools. Perceptions of sugar reduction programs were higher in kindergarten/elementary schools than in middle/high/special schools. The perception of added sugar use increased with more work experience, and interest in sugar reduction was higher in kindergarten/elementary schools than in middle/high/special schools. Practice for added sugar reduction increased with more work experience, and the most common method for reducing sugar was use of natural sugars. The main reason for not reducing added sugars in school meals was due to preference. Nutritional education for students increased with more work experience and was higher in kindergarten/elementary schools than in middle/high/special schools. The major nutritional education methods were using school homepage (37.4%), sending family letters (37.4%), and using principle's discretion time (18.4%). Organic sugar and rice taffy were used more at kindergarten/elementary schools, and white sugar, brown sugar, and white syrup were used more at middle/high/special schools. The most common menu using added sugars was stir-fried dishes (stir-fried pork, chicken, and vegetables).
The purpose of this study is to investigate factors influencing educational performance and mediating effects of learning presence in the university flipped learning classroom. For achieving this purpose, self-regulation, learning presence, and collaborative preference were selected as learner variables, and perceived academic achievement and learning engagement were selected as variables for educational performance. To investigate causal relationships among the variables, 39 university students who took 16 week course flipped-learning class participated self-reported survey. Collected data were analyzed by multiple regression and mediation analyses. The results were as follows: first, learning presence and self-regulation affected learning engagement, and moreover, the learning presence mediated between self-regulation and learning engagement. Second, only learning presence affected perceived academic achievement. Therefore, various strategies for effective flipped learning should be considered, and well-designed classroom activities that can promote learners self-regulation, learning presence, and learning engagement are needed to successful flipped learning.

Effectiveness of the video-record learning method in teaching bowel elimination nursing skill was investigated using an experimental research methodology. Data was collected from 63 female students attending Fundamental Nursing class from a nursing college in Seoul. The subjects were randomly assigned to two groups, one is the experimental group of 29 and the other the control group of 34. The independent variable was video-record learning method and the dependent variable were the degree of knowledge achivement, nursing skill achivement, competence on practicing elimination skill, and satisfaction about the learning method. The hypotheses of the study were as following. 1) There will be significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in dependent variables. 2) There will be significant positive correlations between nursing skill achievement and other three dependent variables-interest in nursing, adaptation in nursing, and preference of nursing job. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square test, t-test, and Pearson's correlation coefficient with SPSS $PC^+$ program. Findings of the study are : 1) There was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in knowledge achievement using P<.05. 2) There was significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in nursing skill achievement using P<.05. 3) There was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in competence on practicing elimination skill using P<.05. 4) There was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in satisfaction about learning method using P<.05. 5) There was positive correlation between nursing skill achievement and the other variables but no significant difference was shown. 6) This study suggests that video-record learning method is an effective learning method for achiving basic nursing skills but is not effective in other areas such as knowledge achivement, competence in performing nursing practice, and satis-faction about the learning method. Further study with more developed research design and statistical analysis should be done to investigate the effectivenes of video-record learning method in learning basic nursing skill more accurately.

This study examined the effects of the ARCS model for science education and found a way of improving ARCS while finding any weaknesses. More specific research questions were as follows: 1) Does the ARCS model enhance the learners' achivement in highschool Earth Science significantly?; 2) Does the ARCS model enhance the learners' motivation in highschool Earth Science significantly?; 3) What are the weaknesses of the prescriptions of the ARCS model for designing a lesson, if any?; 4) How can the weaknesses of the prescriptions of the ARCS modeI be overcome? In order to fulfill the purpose of this study, the two major research methodologies were implemented: pretest-posttest control group design and formarive research. This study was conducted in two distinct phases: 1) designing a set of instructions for 4 weeks with the principles of the ARCS model (to find the weaknesses of the ARCS model) and 2) teaching the instructions and checking the effectiveness of the ARCS model by pretest and posttest with control and experimental groups(to find weaknesses of the underlying theory of the ARCS). After the experiment, each group took an achievement test and an attitude test on the given instruction and gathered data were analyzed with t-tests. Also, from each four classes 7$\sim$8 students were randomly sampled and individually interviewed about the instructional effectiveness and their preference on the instructions. The results of this study are summarized as follows: Significant differences between the control group and experimental group are seen in three components; Attention, relevance, and satisfaction. No significant differences are seen in the attitude of confidence. The weakness of the prescriptions of the ARCS model, are insufficient of strategy for 'confidence'. For overcoming the weaknesses of the prescriptions of the ARCS model, developmental type research is needed.
This study investigates coffee consumers' perceptions of coffee shops, using the Importance-Performance Analysis and the Fishbein Attitude Model approach. A survey was carried out in coffee shops(2010, 12/6~12/20), and 175 out of 200 copies of questionnaire were returned from the coffee shops. After excluding 27 unusable cases which had an unacceptable level of missing data, 148 cases were used for analysis. The IPA showed that an attractive facade, toilet cleanliness, coffee freshness, coffee taste were included in the area of maintaining good results while coffee price was in the area of concentrating efforts, which coffee shop managers should improve. Also, the analysis using the Fishbein attitude model showed that coffee taste, an attractive facade, toilet cleanliness, and coffee freshness were in order of importance, and Starbucks, Angelinus, Caffebene, and Pascucci are in order of brand preference. Although this study has some limitations(such as self-report, common method bias), it shows significant implications to coffee shop managers.

It has been shown that in the modern society, teenagers do not read a lot of books. As basic research in order to attract teenagers to reading activities, the effectiveness of booktrailers in affecting reading motivation of teenagers has been studied. As such, 121 middle school and high school students were surveyed with respect to their (1) basic awareness of reading and booktrailers, (2) awareness thereof after watching booktrailers, and (3) reader behaviour reaction applied to AIDMA & AISAS sub-elements. Results show booktrailers to be much more effective in reading motivation than printed media such as book reviews. The preferred booktrailer type is the storyline type. The preferred elements of booktrailers are the storyline, background music, video effects, with their preference in descending order. Also, in terms of the reader behaviour reaction of the teenagers, very positive responses appear across all areas including attention and interest in the book, memories of the book, desire to read the book, search for information, and production of booktrailers. These results indicate that booktrailers can be utilized very effectively in providing reading motivation and in reading expression activities.

The objectives of this study were (1) to determine the preferences for three home economics curriculum Models(Concept-based curriculum Model, Competency-based curriculum Model, and Practical Problem-based curriculum Model) of Korean home economics(HE) teachers and HE teacher educators, (2) to determine the difference between HE teachers and HE teacher educators according to purposes of HE, focus of learning, organization of HE subject matter, focus of HE curriculum, focus of HE content, HE knowledge, main questions addressed through HE curriculum, teaching strategies, students’progress, and systems of action, and (3) to determine the relationships between preferences for three curriculum Models and personal and professional characteristics of HE teachers. Respondents in this study were 225 HE teachers and 35 HE teacher educators. The survey method was used in this descriptive study. The survey method was used in this descriptive study. The overall curriculum Model preference of each teacher respondent was determined by counting number of times a given Model among 10 identified variables. The data were analyzed by using Chi-square to compare the differences between the two groups. To determine the relationships between preferences for three curriculum Models and personal and professional characteristics of HE teachers, coefficient of contingency tables was used. Both of HE teacher group(79.4%) and HE teacher educator group(67.6%) preferred the practical problem-based curriculum Model the most. There was a difference between the two groups on preferences for the curriculum Models related to systems of action. No significant difference emerged when Chi-square was applied to determine difference between the two groups on overall preferences for three HE curriculum Model. The chi square values between preferences for three curriculum Model and level of school, type of school were statistically significant. Each contingency coefficient for level of school(middle school and high school) and form of school(private and public school) was 27, which means there is a low association between the preferences and level of school and the preferences and form of school.

This study aims at proposing some reform measures for the middle school grouping system in Gwangju Metropolitan City, which is divided 86 middle schools into 10 clusters and 3 school districts. In doing so, it analyzes the present status of educational environment and student walking distance in each school district such as the number of student per teacher, the student density, the school size and the gender ratio in class. And it conducts a survey of 5,363 middle school students, 3,966 parents and 1,007 teachers, also evaluates their satisfaction levels and needs with the student allocation system. As the result of the survey and data analysis, it finds out some problems in some school districts which are gender imbalance in class, the preference for private middle schools and inconvenience in commuting to school. To solve these problems, the study suggests the better alternatives to replace the current system. Firstly, to set up the basic fundamental principles detailed in 3 action plan, which emphasize the adherence to a close-range allocation, the appropriate size of school and class, and the equalization of educational environment. Secondly, to establish the information system for managing the school district in order to be more objective and transparent. Finally, it gives a concrete proposal which divides the 10th school grouping system into the 11th. The result would be expected to ease the gender imbalance and the concentration of private middle schools, to improve the student walking condition to school.
When the developers develop the software, the cost and time of the software development can be reduced by using blocks that are implemented previously. We call these implemented blocks components. In the early stage of Web-based Instruction, it didn't gain preference in spite of it's benefit of convenience. The main reason is, I think, the lack of generality at the education system which eventually results in unsatisfactory facilities compared with the requirement of teachers and students. And the early systems don't make good use of the plenty data in distributed environment, and don't show so good reliablity due to lack of systematic design and development. In this paper, we suggest WBI developing technology using the concept of WBSE. WBI developing is consist of component of pre-developed education software, integration of component using its reusability, and production of more requirement-satisfactory education software.

The purpose of this study is to develop a decision model that helps manufacturers and retailers determine the optimal timing of markdown in order to maximize their profit. An optimal timing decision model was developed based on three steps; conjoint measurement, scenario analysis and simulation. Data were collected from the sample of 149 out of 170 undergraduate and graduate students in Seoul in 1997. From the Jeans market, 8 brands; Levi's, lee, Guess, Calvin Klein, Pintos, Get used, MFG, and Basic, were selected as competitors for this study. In the conjoint measurement, respondents estimated the level of preference, from 1 to 100, for each item in which brand, price, style, and colors were used to explain product characteristics. Then, in order to reflect competitive situation in Jeans market, four types of scenarios were developed. In each scenario, simulations were applied to decide optimal timing of markdowns that leads to maximal profitability and sales volume. The profit was calculated based on the equation; Profit = Jean's market volume x market share of each brand - cost, where market volume was obtained by integral calculus for market utility function, and market share by logit value of part-worth from the conjoint analysis. For the purpose of the parsimony of the research, costs and the level of markdown were fixed to 30% of the regular price. In results, the optimal timing decision model identified 3 different types of brands. The brands that do not need to take markdown were Ievi's, MFG, and Basic Jeans characterized by the highest brand power and the highest price zone. The brands that needed to take early markdowns were Guess, Lee, Calvin Klein, and Get Used with the intermediate level of brand power and price. The brand that need late markdown was Pintos with the weakest brand power among the competitors and the lowest price. The optimal range of markdown remains for further research.
