Objectives: We investigated the operation needs of school meal support centers (SMSC) in Chungnam-do based on analysis of nutrition teachers' perception of them. Methods: The Chungnam government established the first SMSC in 2012. Thirteen SMSCs are currently being operated in Chungnam-do. To analyze the results quantitatively, we investigated nutrition teachers opinions regarding the necessity for SMSCs as a dependent variable and derived the independent variables based on the causal relationships with dependent variables using the ordered logit model. Those independent variables included region, school type, number of students, attitude regarding free meal policy, satisfaction with school meal policy, and preference for local food. Results: Briefly, teachers in the region in which the SMSC was located more strongly supported the SMSC. In addition, teachers in public schools with a smaller number of students believed that having a SMSC is more beneficial, and that other variables also affected the necessity for SMSCs. Moreover, nutrition teachers preferred local foods rather than organic foods because of the unstable supply of organic foods. Conclusions: Based on the results of this study, it was recommended that the local government implement the policy consistently. Moreover, it was recommended that the government operate the SMSC more efficiently, enhance the roles of the SMSC as the local organization responsible for student nutritional planing and expand the coverage of agricultural products.

As the attracting foreign student has become a very important strategy, detailed researches on their college selection and their satisfaction with college life are needed. Especially it is necessary to distinguish ordinary international students and those who take classes in Local Education Centers (LEC) before coming to Korea. The central purpose of this study is to identify how the two types of students differ in their perception of college selection factors and what factors affect their satisfaction with college life. A total of 186 international students participated in the study. It was found that the most important college selection factor of the pre-educated LEC students was 'obtaining academic ability through online classes and transfer of credit hours'. Second, these students reported that the two influential factors for their satisfaction with college life were 'quality of education' and 'cultural experience program'. Third, it was found that the major college selection factors influencing ordinary international students' college life satisfaction were 'expertise of faculty', 'transfer of credit through curriculum links', and 'recommendation from teachers at home country'. Fourth, the major factors affecting the pre-educated LEC students' satisfaction with college life were 'KSL classes at LE's', 'expertise of faculty', and 'financial aid system'.
This research aims to examine the relationship between major satisfaction and psychological well-being of female engineering students. To achieve this goal, first, differences in major satisfaction and psychological well-being among engineering students were examined. Second, differences in major satisfaction and psychological well-being among female undergraduate students were investigated. In addition, the effects of psychological well-being, as perceived by undergraduate students by gender and major, on major satisfaction were explored. A total of three hundred and forty-nine (349) undergraduate students from two universities in Korea responded to survey based on a two-variables scale. The findings were that, firstly, male engineering students scored higher in two variables including their most sub-factors, and that gender differences in relation satisfaction as well as positive relationship with others, autonomy, and environmental mastery were statistically significant. Secondly, female engineering students scored higher in major satisfaction and several sub-factors of two variables, and that major differences in major satisfaction (total), social perception satisfaction, and autonomy - a sub-factor of psychological well-being - were statistically significant. Thirdly, a positive correlation among major satisfaction and psychological well-being was identified. Finally, psychological well-being could explain about 19% of major satisfaction. The practical implications of these findings are discussed herein, with attention on education for promotion of major satisfaction.
As intellectual property has become an important competitive element in the industry, government-led patent education is rapidly expanding. It is important to look at whether each patent education course is organically linked to each other under a life-long patent education system from elementary school to college. This study focused on the link between high school education and college education to analyze statistically how invention activities in high school affect patent education achievement at college. Statistical analysis of a survey of students taking a basic course of intellectual property revealed no statistically significant correlation between invention experience in high school and college students' patent class total score, contrary to popular perception. These results are believed to be due to the distribution of data on the number of invention contest participations or the number of invention class participations, which does not form a normal distribution and has a relatively large skewness. Rather, the attendance to the patent class showed a relatively distinct positive linear correlation with the patent class total score, indicating that the student's attitude in class was important for the patent education achievement.

On July 6, 2021, the Ministry of Education revised and announced the operating regulations of the undergraduate co-op with the aim of protecting students rights and student-centered operation based on mutual benefits for students and institutions. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze universities' perceptions against the amendment of regulation of the Ministry of Education's into universities/college, regions. According to a survey of 75 KACE, we found that colleges are more difficult than universities in terms of administrative work, company participation, reduced opportunities for co-op, and managing participating companies. Next, most of the regional differences in difficulties were not significant, and only the decline in company participation rate was more difficult in Daegyoung/Gangwon/Chungcheong/Jeju than in the metropolitan area. Finally, policy directions such as the differential application of practical support expenses according to the size of the company, tax benefits for institutions, and clarification of the concept of job training were presented.
The development of mobile devices and network technology is changing the ways in which people communicate with one another. Mobile text message has emerged as one of the most frequently used form of communication, which also gave rise to various non-verbal texts such as emoticons. Nonetheless, the use of text messages has largely been denied in education because text messages often involve colloquial and non-verbal texts considered inappropriate or grammatically incorrect by the teacher. In efforts to provide a theoretical framework to better understand mobile e-text communication, this research compared the practical usages of non-verbal texts in the mobile e-learning environment. The study developed three types of text messages according to the degree of using non-verbal texts and their phraseology as instructors' messages, which were then distributed to 259 students via mobile text messaging. The perceptions of students were analyzed using a semantic differential scale and a questionnaire. The results showed clear differences in students' perceptions of non-verbal text and traditional text, and that optimally designed non-verbal texts turned out to encourage the students' interaction the most out of the three types of text messages. Following the discussion of the results, an expanded theoretical framework beyond Ong's concepts of orality and literacy is also suggested to understand the evolution of mobile e-text communication in education.

The purpose of this research is to compare the attitudes of female students in Korea toward science with the child-rearing attitude of their parents they perceived and their sex-role identity. The participants in this study were 374 female middle- and high-school students, chosen randomly from Seoul and Gyenggi-do in South Korea. We used three different forms of questionnaires in this research: "Scale of Parents' Child-rearing Behaviors Perceived by Teenagers", "Korea Sex-role Survey", and "Attitude Toward Science Measurement." The significant results were acquired after we had analyzed the comparison of the attitude of female students toward science with their perception on their parents' child-rearing attitude, especially on their fathers. The fathers' "monitoring" and "over-expectation" factors affected the attitudes of female students toward science; on the other hand, any child-rearing attitudes of their mothers did not influence their attitudes toward science. We also analyzed the attitudes of female students about science based on their sex-role identities. In consequence, we found that meaningful differences existed in four types of gender-role identity: androgyny type, masculinity type, femininity type and undifferentiated type. In particular, the androgyny type was characterized by a higher score in attitude toward science compared with the undifferentiated type.

This study conducted a survey of 330 students participating in the extracurricular curriculum program at K University in Chungcheongbuk-do to analyze the impact of extracurricular satisfaction and career decision self-efficacy on career preparation behavior. The main results and implications are as follows. First, the positive perception of participation in extracurricular curriculum programs had a significant impact on career preparation behavior. Second, high career decision self-efficacy was related to active career preparation behavior. It is necessary to provide continuous career program support, provide counseling tailored to the needs of each student, and establish a systematic career diagnosis system. This study is limited to extracurricular curriculum program participants and has limitations in generalization. Comparative and analytical research is needed by measuring the performance of various educational programs conducted in universities. It is necessary to support the development and operation of various extracurricular curriculum programs that reflect the needs of society and students and to prepare continuous quality management measures.

This study examines how university students perceive dating and marriage through metaphorical analysis. The data were collected using a metaphor analysis questionnaire. The participants comprised 261 university students located across the country. They were asked, 'Dating is ___________ because it is ___________.', 'A marriage is ___________ because it is ___________.' Resultantly, the data have been categorized according to time as the beginning, process, and result of dating and marriage, respectively. According to the criteria of time, two perspectives on dating and marriage were categorized: the egocentric perspective and a relation-centered perspective. Additionally, similarities and differences were found in the categories. In the dating metaphors, 208 positive expressions (73.9%) were common which is significantly higher that the others. While positive expression (33.5%), neutral expression (42.8%), and negative expression (23.7%) were common in the marriage metaphors. However, the ratio between egocentric and relation-centered perspectives is different for each area because the meaning of dating and marriage in the relationship between oneself and another person changes over time. This exploration of university students' perspectives on dating and marriage is expected to provide implications for social institutions and policy support directions for positive perceptions of dating and marriage.
