  • The process of building project for planning, designing, construction, maintenance, and waste disposal are related with each other. However, we have a difficulty for estimating building's LCC due not to be flexible each other. Therefore, we analyzed the boundary condition between the process of construction and maintenance, and analyzed the factor of segment. We also suggested the Link System for flexible relation.

  • As gravel roadbed is gradually turn down by repetitive loading of train, lasting work for maintenance and management of track is necessary to reduce the settlement of roadbed and the deterioration of track. Despite of above weak point, gravel roadbed has become a basic structure of roadbed at the present time. But request for new structure of roadbed is recently presented to settle an increased transportation capacity of track, and to solve a shortage of the labor to handle maintenance work of track. Therefore, we begin to research about maintenance-free roadbed like paved track from two years ago. In this study, a series of tests were performed to clarify the characteristics of strength and permeability of concrete specimen, which is the upper part of paved track injected by cement mortar, by type of geotextile and finally to give a basic data for application of geotextile to the lower part of paved track.

Crack growth prediction on a concrete structure using deep ConvLSTM

  • This paper proposes a deep convolutional long short-term memory (ConvLSTM)-based crack growth prediction technique for predictive maintenance of structures. Since cracks are one of the critical damage types in a structure, their regular inspection has been mandatory for structural safety and serviceability. To effectively establish the structural maintenance plan using the inspection results, crack propagation or growth prediction is essential. However, conventional crack prediction techniques based on mathematical models are not typically suitable for tracking complex nonlinear crack propagation mechanism on civil structures under harsh environmental conditions. To address the technical issue, a field data-driven crack growth prediction technique using ConvLSTM is newly proposed in this study. The proposed technique consists of the four steps: (1) time-series crack image acquisition, (2) target image stabilization, (3) deep learning-based crack detection and quantification and (4) crack growth prediction. The performance of the proposed technique is experimentally validated using a concrete mock-up specimen by applying step-wise bending loads to generate crack growth. The validation test results reveal the prediction accuracy of 94% on average compared with the ground truth obtained by field measurement.

  • Our country is constructed the digital map in the first NGIS plan. Through digital map construction, it was had the potentiality that can more easily activate GIS. But these data included numerous problems from user's view. In the second NGIS plan, our government try to construct the framework data for the maximization of GIS utilization. This paper is showed a step of update that considered relationship between the national framework data themes, suggested the structure of maintenance activity for national framework data.

  • Port structures are one of the important infrastructure of the nation. To ensure safety and extend lifetime of the existing port structures, it is necessary to develop proper maintenance program. In this study, port inspection manual for pier type structure are developed. The flow of inspection program is designed and defect type for each component of wharf is classified. Also systematic method of rating and evaluation is developed together with conceptual design of port maintenance data base system.
