Development of Maintenance Information System for Electric Multiple Unit (도시철도 차량 유지보수 정보화시스템 개발)

  • Urban transit operation corporations perform repetitive work to investigate the EMU, electric multiple unit, by some fixed maintenance cycle. The quality of maintenance work usually depends on workers' know-how. Though some information to support the maintenance work is digitalized and provided to workers, it is not great help to them because of its non systematic structure. The information includes drawings, manuals, work results, work history, fault history, etc. The maintenance workers want to access the information anytime anywhere, and make an effect to promote the efficiency of maintenance for EMU. But it is difficult to achieve that without some structured information system which is able to use in work area. So we develop maintenance information system for EMU for about 4 years from 2002 to 2005. In this paper we present the configuration and characteristics of this system, and the results of the evaluation test. We install the system in two depots, Changdong and Jichuk, belonged to SeoulMetro to evaluate its efficiency and estimate its economic benefits.

An Experimental Study on Crack Detection of RC Structure using Measured Strain (측정변형률을 이용한 RC 구조물의 균열검출에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Structral crack of RC structure generally occurs when the tension stress by applied load is larger than tension resistance of concrete, and it means deterioration of structure and the decrease of load resistance. Because structural crack of structure can occur critical damage to structure occasionally, the research on crack detection algorithm of RC structure is needed for assurance of structural safety and effective maintenance of structure. In this paper, we executed the laboratory test on measuring strain of RC beam's tension and compression zone, using strain gauge which is widely used on strain measurement of civil structure. By using measured strain, we analyzed strain change, elastic modulus change, and neutral axis change to detect crack of RC beam. As a result, we proposed the simple and effective crack detection algorithm using trends of neutral axis position change.

The Management Method for Preventing Frequent Defect about Each Inspection Part from The Data Analysis of Pre-qualification of Residential Building Reconstruction (주택 재건축 예비평가 자료분석을 통한 분야별 주요결함 발생현황 및 유지관리방안 고찰)

  • The purpose of this study is to classify defects of the residential building by analyzing the defect specified by prequalification of residential building reconstruction and to suggest the solution of the problem which can be arisen during each stage of plan, construction and maintenance. By sorting the main defects which is specified by pre-qualification of residential building reconstruction for three years from August 2006 to August 2009 into 4 catagories and analyzing the cause of the defects, we draw the way of maintenance to prevent the defects and make pleasant residential environment. The reason for the frequent defects from residential building is mainly deterioration. It occured on the finishing more than on the structure, which means that residents can find defects easier on the finishing than the structure and clear the demand for repair. The result of analyzing of pre-qualification of residential building reconstruction is that the defects mostly caused small, masonry constructed and lower apartment. The apartment which is not into legal right for maintenance naturally have more defects than the others. In conclusion, it is necessary to establish a law of obligation duty of the maintenance of small apartment.

  • It is important to maintain information system (IS) following the business and institutional change. Even if successfully developed information systems, we cannot gain the benefit from the systems without the proactive maintenance activities. However, the importance of IS maintenance has not been considered as much as the system development, and we don't have any specific performance management structure. The objective of this study is to identify the relationship between IS maintenance activities and utilization. For empirical test of the hypothesis model, the sample data is collected from public information system sites. Results from multiple regression analysis reveal that proactive maintenance activities including IS maintenance cost increase, improving functionality, and enhancing ease of use have a causal effect on the IS utilization.

  • Most power plants have operated many independent computerize systems for maintenance. Independence of systems have caused complexity of business process and inconvenience of computer system management. Because the equipment and material master data is not standardize and structurize, it is difficult to manage equipment maintenance history and material delivery. Especially equipment classification criterion is important for standardization of every maintenance information. It is necessary to integrate function of independent systems for business process simplification and rapid work flow. this paper provides equipment classification criterion design and system integration method with the case of live system development.

  • In order to understand interaction between building users' occupant performance and building maintenance performance of maintenance management personnel, actual data from maintenance activities of buildings were analyzed. Also, using building defect customer complaint data reported by building user, satisfaction data on building maintenance services of building users and service response time of maintenance management personnel, a method for evaluating interaction of buildings with the same purpose and same size was proposed. Throughout analysis, average number of occurrences per unit area per year for the mechanical complaints in complex building were presented. In addition, using building users' satisfaction with facility management services, attitude of responding to business obstacles, number of occurrences per unit area per year of mechanical complaints and complaint processing speed, interaction was comprehensively identified and compared.

Condition-Based Model for Preventive Maintenance of Armor Units of Rubble-Mound Breakwaters using Stochastic Process (추계학적 확률과정을 이용한 경사제 피복재의 예방적 유지관리를 위한 조건기반모형)

  • A stochastic process has been used to develop a condition-based model for preventive maintenance of armor units of rubble-mound breakwaters that can make a decision the optimal interval at which some repair actions should be performed under the perfect maintenance. The proposed cost model in this paper based on renewal reward process can take account of the interest rate, also consider the unplanned maintenance cost which has been treated like a constant in the previous studies to be a time-dependent random variable. A function for the unplanned maintenance cost has been mathematically proposed so that the cumulative damage, serviceability limit and importance of structure can be taken into account, by which a age-based maintenance can be extended to a condition-based maintenance straightforwardly. The coefficients involved in the function can also be properly estimated using a method expressed in this paper. Two stochastic processes, Wiener process and gamma process have been applied to armor stones of rubble-mound breakwaters. By evaluating the expected total cost rate as a function of time for various serviceability limits, interest rates and importances of structure, the optimal period of preventive maintenance can easily determined through the minimization of the expected total cost rate. For a fixed serviceability limit, it shows that the optimal period has been delayed while the interest rate increases, so that the expected total cost rate has become lower. In addition, the gamma process tends to estimate the optimal period more conservatively than the Wiener process. Finally, it is found that the more crucial the level of importance of structure becomes, the more often preventive maintenances should be carried out.

  • The concrete structure hasn't perfect waterproofing performance but if it doesn't have a joint part that could isolate a permeability. Concrete structure(communication tunnel and underground structure) has an expansion joint and construction joint. There are a lot of joint type after construction or expansion, shrinkage, vibration, over load, performance of decline etc.. they offer a water of way by variety change. In this reason, It carries in effect a waterproofing work for the concrete structure of waterproofing. but the structure has a behavior that cause a problem by waterproofing layer of damage, heaving phenomenon, temperature of shrinkage. In this study, we will estimate a field of application for Sealer of injection type for leakage maintenance of construction standard on the waterproofing performance.

  • Computer programs for a structure design help the optimum design that considers each condition. however, the findings can not explain accurately a behavior of the real-living structure because each condition of a structure is simplified and generalized. The smart structure is introduced to overcome these problems, and we can understand a behavior of the real-living structure by means of Health Monitoring System. In this study, we compare a behavior by means of the existing structure design with a behavior of the living structure by means of an experiment. As a result, we examine adequacy of a measuring system and developing possibility in the future.
