  • This study aims at suggesting directions to make children's parks considering the actual groups using them by comparative analysis of age distribution in residents within area of use and locations of children's parks with regards to changes in population structure of low birth rate and aging. Cheongju was selected for the study, and the current status of children's parks and population structure were categorized into six stages and the investigation and analysis were conducted by statistics by population group and by using Arc GIS Program. As a result of the analysis, children under 13 were 13.1% of the entire population in Cheongju and share of middle-aged and aged group including middle-aged was 31.3%. Park area per one children under 13 was 5.9㎡ and based on walking use area(250m), average number of parks available by autonomous district was eight. As a result of the analysis of characteristics of distribution of children's parks, they are densely located in old downtowns or the distribution density was relatively high in newly developed areas such as Osong-eup or Ochang-eup. However, outer rural areas have no children's parks or relatively low rate. As a result of the analysis on population structure and co-efficient of park location, in nine autonomous districts, aged group is increasing, leading to decrease use of children's parks. If resident rate aged group is higher in the region where a children's park is located, it is necessary to re-compose the existing one to different one or to change purposes of parks to be planned. Also, in the area with similar rates in both children's group and aged group, composing complex parks for both of them could be considered. This study has limitations by not conducting field studies about the current status of use of children's parks in areas where the population structure has been changing and not suggesting specifically new types of parks according to changes in population structure. It is necessary to conduct the following studies about relationship between children's parks and policies for composing parks responding to changes in population structure in neighboring regions in future.

  • The antiserum against locustatachykinin I, originally isolated from brain and retrocerebral complex of the locust Locusta migratoria, has been used to investigate changes in number, localization, and structure of locustatachykinin I-immunoreactive (LomTK I-IR) neurons in the brains of the common cutworm, Spodoptera Iitura, during postembryonic development. These neurons are found at larval, pupal, and adult stages. In the larval stages, the first instar larva shows the first appearance of about 8 LomTK I-IR neurons. These neurons gradually increase in number from the second to fourth instar larvae which have the largest number of about 92 in all postembryonic stages. Thereafter, these neurons decrease to about 28 in number in the 5-day-old pupa. However, they begin to rise again from the 7-day-old pupal stage, eventually reaching to about 90 in the l-day-old adult. The developing larval brains contain cell bodies of these neurons in most neuromeres. After the metamorphosis of larva to pupa and adult, localization of these neuronal cell bodies is confined to the specific cerebral neuromeres. The 7-day-old pupal brain shows the location of these neuronal cell bodies in pars intercerebralis, pars lateralis of protocerebrum, deutocerebrum, tritocerebrum, optic lobe-near region, and subesophageal ganglion. In the l-day-old adult, however, the brain has these cell bodies only in some neuromeres of protocerebrum, deutocerebrum, and subesophageal ganglion. Throughout the postembryonic life, changes in structure of these neurons coincide with changes in number and localization of these neurons. These findings suggest that changes in number, localization, and structure of these neurons reflect differentiation of these neurons to adult type.

  • Aging causes a variety of changes in the structure of the vocal fold (VF), resulting in aging-induced dysphonia (presbyphonia). Several studies have investigated the structure of the VF of elderly people from autopsy as well as animal studies. There is an increasing evidence on correlation of structural changes of VF with deteriorated voice in elderly. Although the cellular mechanisms of aging VF have only partially been elucidated, there are many recent advances in biological treatment on aging VF using bioactive molecules such as growth factors. In this study, I'd like to address aging-related structural, biological, and physiological changes in previous literature about human and rodent aging VFs, to provide further insight into the mechanisms responsible for presbyphonia and to translate the basic researches for future clinical trials.

  • The effect of ultrasonication on PTFE and its composites with zeolite and fluoroplast F-4NTD-2 was studied. Ultrasonication was found to cause changes in the supramolecular structure, and consequently, the tensile strength, relative elongation, and mass wear rate. Changes in the topology of the materials following ultrasonication were investigated by scanning electron microscopy. The optimum enhancement of the desired properties was found in the PTFE composite containing 2% activated zeolite.

  • In accordance with the rapid industrialization in Korea, there have been remarkable changes in the health environment. The major changes are ; the change of disease structure, the aging of population structure, the diversification of health needs and the increase of health care costs. Because most of health problems stems from the environment, national health policy should be conducted according to the environmental changes. It is necessary for the voluntary organizations as well as the government ones to plan and participate the national health promotion movement on a national level so as to make the people form the attitude that health promotion is better than cure. Also, it is desirable that national health promotion movement be implemented gradually especially by four steps, 1) preparation step; 2) enlightenment step: 3) implementation step: 4) evaluation step.

  • For the last few years, the wholesale market system in Japan has been experiencing a lot of changes in the related sectors. The greatest changes in the environments surrounding the wholesale market were enlargement of the producers' cooperatives, increase of fisheries products marketed in the outside of the wholesale market system, and management aggravation of the related businessmen, These changes resulted in the revision of the wholesale Market Law in 1999 to cope with the social needs successfully. Recently, fisheries wholesale markets in Japan have a few problems like declining of earning power, weakening of management constitution, etc. Consequently, Japanese government presents policy for enforcing the competition power through reform laws related with fisheries wholesale markets. Also the fisheries wholesale markets have been trying variety and active countermeasures like undertaking, merger, coalition, etc. to overcome the crisis.

  • The objective in this research is to determine the feasibility of using changes on the dynamic properties of a reinforced concrete (RC) structure to identify different levels of seismic induced damage. Damping ratio and natural frequency changes in a RC bridge column are analyzed using different signal processing techniques like Hilbert Transforms, Random Decrement and Wavelet Transforms. The data used in the analysis was recorded during a full-scale RC bridge column shake table test. The structure was subjected to ten earthquake excitations that induced different levels of inelastic demand on the column. In addition, low-intensity white noises were applied to the column in-between earthquakes. The results obtained show that the use of the damping ratio and natural frequency of vibration as damage indicators is arguable.

  • This study investigated structural changes of the Korea's agriculture and proposed the new direction of rural and agricultural policy in Korea after economic opening. The major results may be summarized as follows: Firstly, the study identified structural changes of the country's peasantry under the economic opening system. Korean agriculture has been deteriorated in population structure, arable land size, and income composition. Secondly, according to above analysis on these changes it suggested that the traditional rural communities were exposed to collapse and this unwanted disaster could result in serious adversities to the national economy. Thirdly, this study proposed preservation policies for small scale farming households and also administrative preparations of multi-dimensional approaches leading to successful rural and agricultural planning.
