This study presents a 4 node, 11 DOF/node plate element based on higher order shear deformation theory for lamina composite plates. The theory accounts for parabolic distribution of the transverse shear strain through the thickness of the plate. Differential field equations of composite plates are obtained from energy methods using virtual work principle. Differential field equations of composite plates are obtained from energy methods using virtual work principle. These equations were transformed into the operator form and then transformed into functions with geometric and dynamic boundary conditions with the help of the Gâteaux differential method, after determining that they provide the potential condition. Boundary conditions were determined by performing variational operations. By using the mixed finite element method, plate element named HOPLT44 was developed. After coding in FORTRAN computer program, finite element matrices were transformed into system matrices and various analyzes were performed. The current results are verified with those results obtained in the previous work and the new results are presented in tables and graphs.
Nonlinear dynamic analysis of a reinforced concrete (RC) frame under earthquake loading is performed in this paper on the basis of a hysteretic moment-curvature relation. Unlike previous analytical moment-curvature relations which take into account the flexural deformation only with the perfect-bond assumption, by introducing an equivalent flexural stiffness, the proposed relation considers the rigid-body-motion due to anchorage slip at the fixed end, which accounts for more than 50% of the total deformation. The advantage of the proposed relation, compared with both the layered section approach and the multi-component model, may be the ease of its application to a complex structure composed of many elements and on the reduction in calculation time and memory space. Describing the structural response more exactly becomes possible through the use of curved unloading and reloading branches inferred from the stress-strain relation of steel and consideration of the pinching effect caused by axial force. Finally, the applicability of the proposed model to the nonlinear dynamic analysis of RC structures is established through correlation studies between analytical and experimental results.
This paper presents a method for the nonlinear analysis of beam elements subjected to the cyclical combined actions of torsion, biaxial flexure and axial forces based on an extension of the disturbed compression field (DSFM). The theoretical model is based on a hybrid formulation between the full rotation of the cracks model and the fixed direction of the cracking model. The described formulation, which treats cracked concrete as an orthotropic material, includes a new approach for the evaluation of the re-orientation of both the compression field and the deformation field by removing the restriction of their coincidence. A new equation of congruence permits evaluating the deformation of the middle line. The problem consists in the solution of coupled nonlinear simultaneous equations expressing equilibrium, congruence and the constitutive laws. The proposed method makes it possible to determine the deformations of the beam element according to the external stresses applied.

Prestressed concrete bridges with corrugated steel webs have emerged as one of the promising bridge forms. This structural form provides excellent structural efficiency with the concrete flanges primarily taking bending and the corrugated steel webs primarily taking shear. In the design of this type of bridges, the flexural ductility and deformability as well as strength need to be carefully examined. Evaluation of these safety-related attributes requires the estimation of full-range behaviour. In this study, the full-range behaviour of beam sections with corrugated steel webs is evaluated by means of a nonlinear analytical method which uses the actual stress-strain curves of the materials and considers the path-dependence of materials. In view of the different behaviour of components and the large shear deformation of corrugated steel webs with negligible longitudinal stiffness, the assumption that plane sections remain plane may no longer be valid. The interaction between shear deformation and local bending of flanges may cause additional stress in flanges, which is considered in this study. The numerical results obtained are compared with experimental results for verification. A parametric study is undertaken to clarify the effects of various parameters on ductility, deformability and strength.
Although many scientists have used pectin, its feasibility in terms of tablet manufacturability with a high speed machine has never been evaluated. Therefore, compactibility of different pectin types for large scale tableting operation has been evaluated. The compactibility behavior of powder pectins was studied by a compaction simulator. It was found that pectin on its own does not produce tablets of acceptable quality even at a punch velocity as low as 20 rpm (e.g. low tensile strengths, capping and lamination irrespective of applied compression force). Thus, dwell time was introduced and more hard compact was produced as relaxation time in die increases. It was concluded that frequent structural failure observed in both pectin types was due to lack of plastic deformation, poor compactibility and high elastic recovery.
A practical multi-spring model is proposed for a nonlinear analysis of reinforced concrete members, especially columns, taking into account the interaction of axial load and bi-directional bending moment. The parameters of the model are determined on the basis of material properties and section geometry. The axial force-moment interaction curve of reinforced concrete sections predicted by the model was shown to agree well with those obtained by the flexural analysis utilizing realistic stress-strain relations of materials. The reliability of the model was also examined with respect to the test of reinforced concrete columns subjected to varying axial load and bi-directional lateral load reversals. The analytical results agreed well with the experiment.
It is proposed that the electromechanical relation of the conductive materials with high electrical resistance may be used to estimate the current stress of prestressing tendons. To choose the best conductive material to this end, we studied the electromechanical relations of carbon fibers and metalic heat wires experimentally. It is found that the relation of carbon fibers can be modelled by a parabolic(or hyperbolic) function in the early stage of deformation. Metallic heat wires show a consistent linear relation during loading and unloading in the elastic deformation and are suitable for this purpose. We propose a new kind of prestressing tendons whose stress can be monitored.

In the present research work was searched the influence of severe plastic deformation (SPD) realized by ECAP (equalchannel angular pressing) on structural, mechanical and plastic properties of IF (interstitial free) steel. For physical simulation ECAP process with right angle channels $(90^{\circ})$ was used. The ECAP process was numerical simulated (namely its course of temperature, strain and stress fields and deformation forces) by FormFEM software, too.
