스핀코팅법으로 제작한 산화구리 박막의 일산화질소 가스 감지 특성 (Nitrogen Monoxide Gas Sensing Properties of Copper Oxide Thin Films Fabricated by a Spin Coating Method)

  • We present the detection characteristics of nitrogen monoxide(NO) gas using p-type copper oxide(CuO) thin film gas sensors. The CuO thin films were fabricated on glass substrates by a sol-gel spin coating method using copper acetate hydrate and diethanolamine as precursors. Structural characterizations revealed that we prepared the pure CuO thin films having a monoclinic crystalline structure without any obvious formation of secondary phase. It was found from the NO gas sensing measurements that the p-type CuO thin film gas sensors exhibited a maximum sensitivity to NO gas in dry air at an operating temperature as low as $100^{\circ}C$. Additionally, these CuO thin film gas sensors were found to show reversible and reliable electrical response to NO gas in a range of operating temperatures from $60^{\circ}C$ to $200^{\circ}C$. It is supposed from these results that the p-type oxide semiconductor CuO thin film could have significant potential for use in future gas sensors and other oxide electronics applications using oxide p-n heterojunction structures.

부산지역 토지이용(land-use) 변화에 의한 열환경 수치모의 (A Numerical Simulation for Thermal Environments by the Modification of Land-use in Busan)

  • Prognostic meteorological model, MM5V3 (Mesoscale Model 5 Version 3) was used to assess the effects of the land-use modifications on spatial variations of temperature and wind fields in Busan during the selected period of summer season in 2000. We first examined sensitivity analysis for temperature between MM5V3 predictions and meteorological data observed at 4 AWS (Automatic Weather System) stations in Busan, which exhibited low structural and accurate errors (Mean Bias Error, MBE: 0.73, Root Mean Square Error, RMSE: 1.18 on maximum). The second part of this paper, MMSV3 simulations for the modification of land-use was performed with 1 km resolution in target domain, 46$\times$46 $\textrm{km}^2$ area around city of Busan. It was found that modification result from change of surface land-use in central urban area altered spatial distributions of temperature and wind. In particular, heat island core moved slightly to the seaward at 1300 LST. This results may imply that modification of surface land-use leads to change the thermal environments; in addition, it has a significant effect on local wind circulations and dispersions of air pollutants.

  • Bumpers are structural components to reduce physical damage to the front and rear ends of a passenger motor vehicle from low speed collisions. Damage assessment and the protectiveness are the commonly used designing criteria but in this study, relative displacements of the bumper are examined. To absorb the crash energy without significant damage to the bumper itself, foam material is installed between fascia and beam. However, it is not easy to predict the exact displacements generated in bumper structures through FEM because the compressive stress-strain curve of a foam material depends on strain rates that deviates significantly on each trial. Under this uncertain condition, a range of displacements is calculated and the optimum design is performed using the design of experiments. The result will be used to find the design that minimizes the weight within displacement constraints. The orthogonal array of L9 is introduced to find the optimum of the design variables that considers the thickness of inner beam, outer beam and stay, This study will suggest the design procedure of a front bumper using the uncertain stress-strain curve of a foam material.

유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 차량 승차감 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Vehicle Ride Comfort by Genetic Algorithms)

  • Recently, Genetic Algorithm(GA) is widely adopted into a search procedure for structural optimization, which is a stochastic direct search strategy that mimics the process of genetic evolution. This methods consist of three genetics operations maned selection, crossover and mutation. Contrast to traditional optimal design techniques which use design sensitivity analysis results, GA, being zero-order method, is very simple. So, they can be easily applicable to wide area of design optimization problems. Also, owing to multi-point search procedure, they have higher probability of converge to global optimum compared to traditional techniques which take one-point search method. In this study, a method of finding the optimum values of suspension parameters is proposed by using the GA. And vehicle is modelled as planar vehicle having 5 degree-of-freedom. The generalized coordinates are vertical motion of passenger seat, sprung mass and front and rear unsprung mass and rotate(pitch) motion of sprung mass. For rapid converge and precluding local optimum, share function which distribute chromosomes over design bound is introduced. Elitist survival model, remainder stochastic sampling without replacement method, multi-point crossover method are adopted. In the sight of the improvement of ride comfort, good result can be obtained in 5-D.O.F. vehicle model by using GA.

Elite-initial population for efficient topology optimization using multi-objective genetic algorithms

  • The purpose of this paper is to improve the efficiency of multi-objective topology optimization using a genetic algorithm (GA) with bar-system representation. We proposed a new GA using an elite initial population obtained from a Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization (SIMP) using a weighted sum method. SIMP with a weighted sum method is one of the most established methods using sensitivity analysis. Although the implementation of the SIMP method is straightforward and computationally effective, it may be difficult to find a complete Pareto-optimal set in a multi-objective optimization problem. In this study, to build a more convergent and diverse global Pareto-optimal set and reduce the GA computational cost, some individuals, with similar topology to the local optimum solution obtained from the SIMP using the weighted sum method, were introduced for the initial population of the GA. The proposed method was applied to a structural topology optimization example and the results of the proposed method were compared with those of the traditional method using standard random initialization for the initial population of the GA.

  • In this paper, a finite element analysis based on the local approach concept to fracture in the continuum damage mechanics is performed to analyze ductile fracture in two dimensional quasi-static state. First an isotropic damage model based on the generalized concept of effective stress is proposed for structural materials in the context of large deformation. In this model, the stiffness degradation is taken as a measure of damage and so, the fracture phenomenon can be explained as the critical deterioration of stiffness at a material point. The modified Riks' continuation technique is used to solve incremental iterative equations. Crack propagation is achieved by removing critically damaged elements. The mesh size sensitivity analysis and the simulation of the well known shearing mode failure in plane strain state are carried out to verify the present formulation. As numerical examples, an edge cracked plate and the specimen with a circular hole under plane stress are taken. Load-displacement curves and successively fractured shapes are shown. From the results, it can be concluded that the proposed model based on the local approach concept in the continuum damage mechanics may be stated as a reasonable tool to explain ductile fracture initiation and crack propagation.

SOG(Silicon On Glass)공정을 이용한 수평형 미소가속도계의 제작에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fabrication of the Lateral Accelerometer using SOG(Silicon On Glass) Process)

  • The resolution of the accelerometer, fabricated with MEMS technology is mainly affected by mechanical and electrical noise. To reduce mechanical noise, we have to increase mass of the structure part and quality factor related with the degree of vacuum packaging. On the other hand, to increase mass of the structure part, the thickness of the structure must be increased and ICP-RIE is used to fabricate the high aspect ratio structure. At this time, footing effect make the sensitivity of the accelerometer decreasing. This paper presents a hybrid SOG(Silicon On Glass) Process to fabricate a lateral silicon accelerometer with differential capacitance sensing scheme which has been designed and simulated. Using hybrid SOG Process, we could make it a real to increase the structural thickness and to prevent the footing effect by deposition of metal layer at the bottom of the structure. Moreover, we bonded glass wafer to structure wafer anodically, so we could realize the vacuum packaging at wafer level. Through this way, we could have an idea of controlling of quality factor.

Secondary resonances of a microresonator under AC-DC electrostatic and DC piezoelectric actuations

  • This article studies the secondary resonances of a clamped-clamped microresonator under combined electrostatic and piezoelectric actuations. The electrostatic actuation is induced by applying the AC-DC voltage between the microbeam and the electrode plate that lies at the opposite side of the microbeam. The piezoelectric actuation is induced by applying the DC voltage between upper and lower sides of piezoelectric layer. It is assumed that the neutral axis of bending is stretched when the microbeam is deflected. The drift effect of piezoelectric layer (the phenomenon where there is a slow increase of the free strain after the application of a DC field) is neglected. The equations of motion are solved by using the multiple scale perturbation method. The system possesses a subharmonic resonance of order one-half and a superharmonic resonance of order two. It is shown that using the DC piezoelectric actuation, the sensitivity of AC-DC electrostatically actuated microresonator under subharmonic and superharmonic resonances may be tuned. In addition, it is shown that the tuning domain of the microbeam under combined electrostatic and piezoelectric actuations at subharmonic and superharmonic conditions is larger than the tuning domain of microbeam under only the electrostatic actuation.

광섬유 BOTDA 센서의 개발 (Development of Fiber Optic BOTDA Sensor)

  • 최근에 구조물의 안전 감시를 위하여 광섬유 센서를 개발하기 위한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 구조물의 넓은 면적에 분포되어있는 변형률을 한 개의 광섬유 라인으로 측정하기 위한 광섬유 BOTDA(Brillouin Optical Time Domain Analysis) 센서를 개발하는 연구를 수행하였다. 광섬유 BOTDA 센서는 2개의 광전 변조기 (electro-optic modulator)를 사용하여 간단하게 구성하였다. 광섬유의 변형률 측정실험을 통하여 광섬유의 전체길이 4.8km중에 변형률이 가해진 10m 구간의 변형률을 200회 평균화 처리된 신호로부터 브릴루앙 주파수 천이를 측정함에 의하여 정확하게 측정할 수 있음을 보였다. 또한 삼성전자의 단일모드 광섬유의 경우 변형률 측정 실험을 통하여 변형률 감지도가 4.81 MHz/0.01%임을 알 수 있었다.

나노 ZnO:CNT를 이용한 후막 가스센서의 특성연구 (Characteristics of Thick Film Gas Sensors Using Nano ZnO:CNT)

  • The effects of an addition of CNT on the sensing properties of nano ZnO:CNT-based gas sensors were studied for $H_2S$ gas. The nano ZnO sensing materials were grown by a hydrothermal reaction method. The nano ZnO:CNT was prepared by ball-milling method. The weight range of the CNT addition on the ZnO surface was from 0 to 10%. The nano ZnO:CNT gas sensors were fabricated by a screen-printing method on alumina substrates. The structural and morphological properties of the ZnO:CNT sensing materials were investigated by XRD, EDS, and SEM. The XRD patterns revealed that nano ZnO:CNT powders with a wurtzite structure were grown with (1 0 0), (0 0 2), and (1 0 1) dominant peaks. The size of the ZnO was about 210 nm, as confirmed by SEM images. The sensitivity of the nano ZnO:CNT-based sensors was measured for 5 ppm of $H_2S$ gas at room temperature by comparing the resistance in air with that in target gases.
