  • This paper presents the influence of incident angles of earthquakes on inelastic dynamic responses of asymmetry single story buildings under seismic ground motions. The dynamic responses such as internal forces and rotational ductility factor are used to evaluate the importance of the incident angles of ground motions in the inelastic range of structural behavior. The base shear and torque (BST) response histories of the resisting elements and of the building are used to prove that the shape of the BST surface of the building can be a practical tool to represent those of all resisting elements. This paper also shows that the different global forces which produce the maximum demands in the resisting elements tend to converge toward a single distribution in a definable intensity range, and this single distribution is related to the resistance distribution of the building.

  • Various kinds of fatigue failures of ocean structures were reported and the importance of fatigue life estimation at the design state is significantly recognized and various kinds of analysis approaches have been discussed. In this paper characteristics of the simplified method proposed here and the spectral method are studied and the elements of the approach are discussed. The merits and demerits of the forementioned analysis schemes are studied and the relating parameters such as SCF and S-N curves are also investigated. The simplified fatigue analysis approach and tile spectral fatigue analysis technique is applied for the analysis of bracing members of typical semi-submersible drilling rig structure for the verification of the usage of two methods and the sensitivity study has been performed using the simplified method. The result from the spectral analysis give a more realistic picture of the fatigue life of the offshore structure considered here.

  • In this paper the characteristics of vibration induced by subway trains running on track is discussed. The quantitative prediction of the vibration level and the countermeasure for reduction of necessary, is of importance for the better environment. It was made the constructed Bundang line as first step with the modified Young-Dan type to basis on the Japanese Young-Dan type. In this paper it was measured and analyzed to two region (①Susuh-Bokjung, ②Chorim-Suhyun region) of this, at present operational Bundang line when averaging velocity of train is 60(㎞/h). As the response characteristics of frequency induced by subway operation, it was confirmed that frequency band of neighborhood of 30∼80Hz in generally dominant. Also to assess the quantitative vibration as response level to be measured for each point of two region in subway operation, the vibrational response level was measured at the state to be not subway operation. And the level was approximately 1/5∼1/10 level comparing to subway operation.

  • The research of the computer-aided analysis and design of steel structures has continuously evolved. Despite the importance of connection in steel structures, the design process of connections is inefficient in present. The purpose of this study is to help engineer in connection design process. In this paper, prototype of automatic connection design module in integrated system for steel structures is proposed. The main methodology is based on bottom-up approach to simplify and formalize product model. Expert system is used to help engineer for selecting steel connection type. Object-oriented analysis and modeling will improve the expansion of knowledge-base. The design for connection was done according to the design specifications of connections of AISC

  • As economic rapid growth, large structures are damaged by defects from design and construction process of the formation and environments. Therefore, safety diagnosis and monitoring skills are bringing importance into relief and legislate for safety diagnosis of large structures. However, the existing monitoring systems are difficult by using wire cable because of cost, error of date, location, revise. In this paper, wireless sensor network which are accelerator, temperature sensor system using ubiquitous had been field test on Sea-Hea Grand bridge. We compare accelerator, temperature sensor system with wire and wireless sensor network.

  • This paper provides recommendations for setting performance requirements for the seismic design of building structures in Hong Kong. Fundamental issues relating to the required level of structural safety will be addressed, which is then followed with a recommended seismic action model for structural design purposes in Hong Kong. The choice of suitable performance criteria of structures and the return period of the design seismic actions are first discussed. The development of the seismic hazard model for Hong Kong is then reviewed. The determination of the design response spectrum and the choice of design parameters for structures of different importance classes will also be presented.

  • Despite the importance of Creating Shared Value(CSV), few research has been conducted to understand it. Filling in this existing void, this study was an attempt to provide a clear understanding about what triggers airline customers' decisions according to the airline company's CSV activities. Through this study, we investigated the relationship among CSV, trust, image, and loyalty. An online survey was used as a method to collect data. Through the CFA, we confirmed the adequate level of reliability and validity of the measures. The structural model was found to include an acceptable fit to the collected data. The findings from the structural analysis revealed that CSV exerted and immense on trust and image. Also, trust was significantly associated with image and loyalty while the image was highly associated with loyalty. Based on the findings presented above, implications for practitioners and researchers are stated.

  • Japanese activities on fusion structural materials R&D have been well organized under the coordination of university programs and JAERI/NIMS programs more than two decades. Where, two categories of structural materials have been studied, those are; reduced activation martensitic/ferritic steels (RAFs) as reference material and vanadium alloys and SiC/SiC composite materials as advanced materials. The R&D histories of these candidate materials and the present status in Japan are reviewed with the emphasis on materials behavior under radiation damage. The importance of IFMIF and technology development for blanket R&D including ITER-TBRG activity is emphasized and the current status of those activities in Japan is also presented.

  • Even though structural performance evaluation techniques for reinforced concrete structures have been improved, there are still many problems in the evaluation of structural performance for underground structures which interacts with surrounding soils. Since experimental evaluation of underground RC structures considering the interaction with the surrounding soil medium is quite difficult to be simulated, the evaluation for underground RC structures using an analytical method can be applied very usefully, For underground structures interacted with surrounding soils, it is important to consider path-dependent RC constitutive model, soil constitutive model, and interface model between structure and soil, simultaneously. In this paper, an elastoplastic interface model which consider thickness was proposed and importance of interface model is discussed. The effects of stiffness of structures to entire underground RC system are investigated through numerical experiment for underground RC structure for different reinforcement ratios and thickness of interfaces.
