Background and objective: Recreation or activities in forest are regarded as therapy. Many forest therapy programs have been developed and assessed in the domestic. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of the forest therapy program on academic and job-seeking stress in college students. Methods: Thirty five subjects were selected as the experimental group and 25 as the control group, and 29 subjects in the experimental group and 11 in the control group participated in the follow-up test to verify the persistence of stress reduction effects. The forest therapy program was carried out once a week for 2 hours each from September 4 to December 4, 2018, adding up to total eight sessions. Results: The experimental group showed statistically significant reduction in both academic stress and job-seeking stress, whereas the control group did not. For the persistence of the forest therapy program, the experimental group did not show a statistically significant difference between the posttest and the follow-up test, and thus the stress reduction effect was maintained. Conclusion: This study proved the reduction of academic and job-seeking stress in forest therapy programs and the persistence of the stress reduction effect of the forest therapy program. The result is consistent with the Stress Recovery Theory (SRT) that shows the stress reduction effect of nature. In addition, it has significance in that it has verified that the program using the forest on campus can reduce stress of most college students.
Objectives : The objective of the study is to examine what effects the Mindfulness-based stress reduction program can have on Hwa-byung patients. Methods : Ten Hwa-byung patients have participated in this 8-week Mindfulness-based stress reduction program for Hwa-byung. In addition, participants were interviewed regarding the experiences from the changes during meditation or everyday life. Data were collected though a consumer panel and individual interviews. Responses were coded using Consensual Qualitative Research (CQR) methodology. Results : The experiences were categorized into 7 domains and divided to 23 categories. Results showed the psychotherapeutic effects of Mindfulness-based stress reduction program, specifically, positive cognitive changes, emotional stability, and changes in attitude. Also, all participants reported improvement of anger management skill and feeling of tranquility. This means that the Mindfulness-based stress reduction program can relieve the symptoms of Hwa-byung. Conclusions : Mindfulness-based stress reduction program makes changes about emotion, physical symptoms, cognition and personal relationship. This program can be applied to psychotherapy for Hwa-byung.
The SRP program(stress reduction program) is reported has a good effect to patient to escape from anxiety. To reduce several symptoms due to anxiety, we performed some SRP programs to our patient who had suffered anxiety disorder. The measurement tools of patient's improvement we used are Heart Rate Variability and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Through this programs, symptoms and feeling of anxiety were decreased than first time and Autonomic nerve system balance was much improved. this is caused by effort of self-control meditation, mindfullness, breathing instruction and muscle relaxation program.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of meditation programs for stress reduction in the elderly. Meditation program for elderly stress reduction were made based on K-MBSR program and kriya yoga. Study was to examined the effectiveness of meditation on stress reduction in the elderly. The program measured the effectiveness of the stress reduction techniques on stress response, depression, anxiety, and quality of life throughout pre-post testing in both the meditation group and the control group. The result indicated that. Stress, depression and anxiety decreased and QOL increased in meditation group. The results of study 1 indicate that meditation program for elderly stress reduction effects on reducing stress and increasing quality of life. These results discussed in connection with cure mechanism for further research.
Purpose: This study applied the Korean Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (K-MBSR) program for mothers of children and adolescents with mental illnesses, and verified its effectiveness on perceived stress and depression based on the Middle-range theory of caregiver stress. Methods: A quasi-experimental, non-equivalent control group pre-post test design was used. The K-MBSR program was reconstructed with experts' advice to adjust subjects' characters. Using a group approach, sessions were conducted once a week for six weeks, and each session took 2.5 hours. Results: The experimental group did not show a significant decrease in perceived stress than the control group. However, the experimental group showed a significant decrease in depression than the control group. Conclusion: The K-MBSR program was effective for depression. Future studies on high-stress groups or with an extended program are necessary to clarify the effects of the K-MBSR program on perceived stress. These results are consistent with the middle-range theory of caregiver stress, the theoretical framework of this study. When caregivers have similar inputs, proper intervention can change the control process. Further, it can be assumed that this change positively affects the output.
The objective of this study was to develop the stress coping program for pregnant adolescent to alleviate the stress levels and symptoms, and to cope with the stress adequately. The program of this study was based on the cognitive-behavioral theory and the stress management. The program was done twice a week totally 8 times and preview meeting was done 1 week before the program and follow-up was formed 4 weeks after finishing the program. one-group pretest-posttest design was held and the group was 13. In case of qualitative research, the content of discussion in the course of group process, investigation, and the materials which were made from the group members were classified and analysed to the objects of program. first, the common change of members was reduction of stress levels by attending stress management program. Second, the coping skills for stress were verified and improved. More than one new coping skills were acquired such as positive re-evaluation, persuasion, self-talk, I-message communication method, assertive self-expression, and problem settlement. Third, the group members admitted their irrational beliefs and partially had a change of it. The implications for the future practice are discussed.
The aim of this study is to examine effects of a yoga program for children on school stress of the elementary school children. To achieve this goal, total 10 students out of 231 in 6 classes among the third graders in M elementary school in B city were selected as subjects for this study. After regular school hours, they participated in a children's yoga program for 16 times for 45 minutes per session in the course of 8 weeks. An ethnographic interview was conducted to identify the effects of the program. During the initial stage of the children's yoga program, the participants were interviewed preliminarily. An analysis of areas and an analysis of classifications were made based on the initial interview results, and an area classification table was drawn on the school stress perceived by the elementary school children. After the yoga program ended, a follow up interview was made to apply an analysis of components by comparing changes in the school stress level due to a yoga effect. A research report was written through a cycle of addition and supplement in which the previous data analysis was complemented and corrected by new findings of the study. As a result of the ethnographic interview to analyze the school stress perceived by the elementary school children, and an examination of the changes in the school stress level, the children's yoga program proved to be significantly effective in reducing the school stress. However there were limitations to a certain degree in stress reduction. Details of such findings in each sub-category are as follow. First, as a result of the initial interview analysis, the school stress was classified broadly into 4 categories of study stress, friendship stress, teacher stress, and school environment stress. Second, the study stress as the first category of the school stress was classified into 3 sub-categories of homework, class, and exam stresses. In spite of minor differences among 3 sub-categories, the stress was reduced in general. Third, the friendship stress as the second category of the school stress was also classified into 3 sub-categories of bullying, alienation, and performing one's duty. There were minor differences among sub-categories, however stress reduction also appeared with the exception of the performing one's duty category which had relatively little effect from the yoga program. Fourth, regarding the teacher stress as the third school stress, a classification was made into 3 sub-categories of preference, penalty, and teaching method. Minor differences among the 3 sub-categories notwithstanding, stress reduction appeared with the exception of the teaching method stress which had relatively little effect from the yoga program. Fifth, the school environment stress as the fourth category of the school stress was classified into 2 sub-categories of school meals and facilities. Minor differences between the 2 categories notwithstanding, stress reduction appeared with the facilities stress having relatively little effect.
The purpose of the study were to investigate the effect of the neuro-feedback program which improves brain function and stress reduction effect. The research design is one group pretest-posttest survey. 121 nursing students of a college in the Busan region took part in the study. Training involving the neuro-feedback program was conducted twice a week, 30 minutes per session, for a total of 10 weeks. The collected data was encoded and analyzed using SPSS 12.0 Version. The brain function and stress levels of the subjects were analyzed through the before-and-after results of the training were analyzed using a paired t-test. The results of the study showed that the BQ and SQ were enhanced as a result of the neuro-feedback. In particular, there were significant increases in the SRQ, ATQ, ACQ, and EQ of the BQ. SQ is correlated with the prevalence rate and resistance to disease, meaning not only psychological anxiety, uneasiness and excitement, but also physical anxiety and response to disease. Based on the study, by using the neuro-feedback training as a program for stress reduction, it is expected that nursing students will receive less stress from internal and external factors, and their ability to cope with stress will be enhanced.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of regular physical activity program on young children's basic motor skills and daily stress. The outdoor physical activity program was conducted with 40 participants who were divided into two groups(experimental group and control group) for 10 weeks twice a week. Results of the study were as following. The outdoor physical activity program improved young children's basic motor skills in the experiment group compared to the control group. Also it had positive effects on the reduction of daily stress in the experimental group compared to the control group. This result suggests that the physical activity program have positive effects on the development of young children's basic motor skills and the reduction of daily stress.
Objective : In this study, the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program was applied to patients presenting with depression and anxiety after surgery from spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) and the effects were assessed. Methods : The subjects were patients admitted for cerebral aneurysm rupture and treated by means of surgery from March to December, 2007. More than 6 months had passed after surgery, without any special lesions showing up on computed tomography (CT), and the Glasgow outcome scale (GOS) was 5 points. Among patients with anxiety and depression symptoms, 11 patients completed the program. The MBSR program was conducted once a week, 2.5 hours each, for 8 weeks. The evaluation criteria were : 1) the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI): it measures the type and level of depression, 2) the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory : the anxiety state of normal adults without mental disorder, and 3) Heart Rate Variability (HRV) : the influence of the autonomous nervous system on the sinoarterial node varies continuously in response to the change of the internal/external environment. Results : The BDI value was decreased from 18.5 ${\pm}$ 10.9 to 9.5 ${\pm}$ 7.1 (p = 0.013) : it was statistically significant, and the depression level of patients was lowered. The state anxiety was decreased from 51.3 ${\pm}$ 13.9 to 42.3 ${\pm}$ 15.2; the trait anxiety was reduced from 50.9 ${\pm}$ 12.3 to 41.3 ${\pm}$ 12.8, and a borderline significant difference was shown (p = 0.091, p = 0.056). In other words, after the treatment, although it was not statistically significant, a decreased tendency in anxiety was shown. In the HRV measurement, standard deviation normal to normal (SDNN), square root of the square root of the mean sum of squared differences between adjacent normal to normal intervals (RMSSD), and total power (TP) showed significant increase, Physical Stress Index (PSI) showed a significant reduction, and thus an improvement in the homeostatic control mechanism of the autonomic nervous system was ween. Conclusion : The MBSR program was applied to the patients showing anxiety and depression reaction after SAH treatment, and a reduction in depression symptoms and physiological reactions were observed. The application of the MBSR program may be considered as a new tool in improving the quality of life for patients after surgery.
