This paper focuses on the experimental study for investigating the performance for lap splice of hooked or headed reinforcement in beam with different depths. In the experiment, seven specimens, with its variables as the lap length of headed or hooked bar, the existence of stirrups, etc., was manufactured. Bending test was conducted. Lap strengths by test were compared with the theoretical model based on KCI2012. The result showed that the cracks at failure mode occurred along the axial direction to a headed bar. The initial stiffness and the stiffness after initial crack were similar for all specimens. For HS series specimens without stirrups, a 25% increase in lap length was increased 11.8~18.1% maximum strengths. For HH series specimens without stirrups, a increase in lap length did not affect the maximum strengths because of the pryout failure of headed bar. For HS series specimens, the theoretical lap strengths based on KCI2012 considering the B grade lap and the reduction factor for stirrup were evaluated. They are smaller than the test strengths and can ensure the safety in terms of strength capacity. For HH series specimens, the stirrups in the lap zone are needed to prevent the pryout behaviour of headed bar.
The ten standard roughness profiles suggested by Barton and Choubey (1977) were extended to make three-dimensional (3D) joint models whose profiles were identical at any cross section. Replicas of joint models were produced using plaster of Paris, and direct shear tests were performed to verify the joint roughness coefficients (JRC) of the standard roughness profiles. Joint shear strengths measured by direct shear tests were compared with those predicted by the shear failure criterion suggested by Barton (1973) based on JRC, joint compressive strength (JCS), and joint basic friction angle (𝜙b). Shear strengths measured from joints of the first and fourth standard roughness profiles were close to predicted values; however, shear strengths measured from the other joint models were lower than predicted, the differences increasing as the roughness of joints increased. Back calculated values for JRC, JCS, and from the results of the direct shear tests show measured shear strengths were lower than predicted shear strengths because of the JRC values. New JRC were back calculated from the measured shear strength and named JRCm. Values of JRCm were lower than the JRC for the standard roughness profiles but show a strong linear relationship to JRC. Corrected JRCm values for the standard roughness profiles are provided and revised relationships between JRCm and JRC, and new shear strength criterion are suggested.
Though there has been great advances in films' computer graphics both in technical and artistic side, there is still a big gap between computer graphics (a.k.a CG) studios in South Korea and major CG studios in US. Therefore, in this research, based on working experience at Disney Animation and information from working professionals in major CG studios, this paper analyzes strengths and weakness of character pipeline that major CG studios have by using examples and then suggest what CG studios in South Korea need. Steps of research process is to analyze what CG studios in South Korea developed, what are the strengths and weakness of Disney's character pipeline system and how these strengths can be applied to CG studios in South Korea.

This study focused on the ultimate behaviors(ultimate strength and fracture mode ) of single shear bolted connection with austenitic sainless steel(STS201) and curling effect on the ultimate strength using finite element analysis based on test results. Main variables are end distance in the parallel direction to loading and edge distance in the perpendicular direction to loading. The validation of finite element analysis procedures was verified through the comparisons of ultimate strength, fracture mode and curling(out-of-plane deformation) occurrence between test results and numerical predictions. Curling was observed in both test and analysis results and it reduced the ultimate strength of single- shear bolted connections with relatively long end distances. Strength reduction ratios caused by curling were estimated quantitatively by maximum 19%, 32%, respectively for specimens with edge distance, 48 mm and 60 mm compared with strengths of uncurled connections with restrained out-of-plane deformation. Finally, analysis strengths were compared with current design strengths and it is found that design block shear equations did not provide the accurate predictions for bolted connections with strength reduction by curling.
This study was designed for comparison of shear bond strengths and failure patterns of four experimental groups which combinated mesh-backed metal brackets and texture based ceramic brackets (Transcend series $2000^{(TM)}$) with chemically cured resin (Mono $Lok2^{(TM)}$) and visible light cured resin $(Transbond^{(TM)})$. Brackets were bonded on the extracted human bicuspids, after etching them by manufacturer's recommand, and the shear bond strengths were measured on the Instron machine after 24 hrs passed in the $37^{\circ}C$ water bath. The results were as follows. 1. Ceramic brackets, transcend series $2000^{(TM)}$, bonded with $MonoLok2^{(TM)}$ showed statistically higher shear bond strength than mesh-backed metal brackets bonded with $MonoLok2^{(TM)}$. 2. There was no significant difference in shear bond strengths between metal and ceramic brackets bonded with $(Transbond^{(TM)})$. 3. Ceramic brackets bonded with both $(Transbond^{(TM)})$) and $MonoLok2^{(TM)}$ showed primarily fractures between brackets adhesive interface. 4. Enamel crack was not found in anyone specimen.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of a single-session, positive psychology-based, strength-enhancing workshop for psychiatrists. The program is composed of lecture about positive psychology and workshop activities for identifying and utilizing character strengths. Methods : A total of 42 psychiatrists participated in this study. The program consisted of a lecture about positive psychology and workshop activities for identifying and utilizing character strengths. Results of a positive resources test, given before and after the session, were used to assess changes in the personal positive resources of the participants as a result of the program. Results : We noted significant increases in participants' satisfaction with life, positive affect, gratitude, acceptance, positive and cognitive emotion regulation, orientation of life, growth, spirit, autonomy, social support, and care factors after completion of the program. On additional analysis, spirit and care scores of female participants's were significantly increased than male participants's. Conclusion : The findings are meaningful in verifying the efficacy of a short-term intervention to improve psychiatrists's positive resources.
The main purpose of the current research was to examine the married women's "Family Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire I" which is a new strategy for developing the strength of family. The survey was conducted with three hundred married women who have a child or children attending elementary school, based upon relationship. The main results of the present study are as following. First, the level of the married women's "Family Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire I" tended to be relatively high and they were good at charismatic leadership among sub-dimension of "Family Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire I". Moreover, internal and external controllability and social support turned out to be most influential background variables. Second, the score for the strengths of family that is recognized by the married women appeared to be more than average. It seemed that internal and external controllability, social support, and monthly gross family income were the most influential variables. Indeed, the result of stepwise regression analysis showed that transformational leadership made a comparatively high contribution to the married women's strength of family. Therefore, it is important to keep in mind that married women's leadership development is a main source of maintaining healthy family.

The quality of high performance concrete largely depends on water cement ratio, porosity, material composition and mix methods. The uniformity of color, texture and compressive strengths are quality indicators commonly used to assess the overall characteristics of concrete mixes. The homogeneity and share of coarse aggregates play a key role in concrete quality and must be analyzed in a microscopic point of view. This research studies the quality of high performance concrete by taking drilled cores in both horizontal and vertical directions from a 1.0 $m^3$ specimen. The coarse aggregate, expressed in digitized $100{\times}116$ dpi resolution images are processed based on brightness in colors through commercial software converted into text files. With the image converting to text format, the share of coarse aggregate is quantified leading to a satisfactory assessment of homogeneity - a quality index of high performance concrete. The compressive strengths of concrete and the shares of coarse aggregate of the samples are also compared in this research study to illustrate its correlation in concrete quality. It is concluded that a higher homogeneity of aggregate exists in the vertical plane than that of the horizontal planes of the high performance concrete. In addition, the concrete specimen showing denser particle packing has relatively higher compressive strengths. The research methodology provides an easy-to-use, direct measurement of high performance concrete when conducting quality assessment in the construction site.

This pioneer study investigates the size effect on the compressive and tensile strengths of fiber-reinforced self-compacting concrete (FR-SCC) with different specimens, before and after exposure to elevated temperatures. 432 self-compacting concrete (SCC) specimens with two concrete grades (50 and 80MPa) and three steel fiber ratios (0%, 0.5% and 1%) were prepared and tested. Moreover, based on the experimental results, new formulations were proposed to predict the residual strengths for different specimens. A parametric study was also carried out to investigate the accuracy of proposed formulations. Residual strength results showed that the cylinder specimen with dimensions of $100{\times}200mm$ was the most affected, while the cube with a size of 100 mm maintained a constant difference with the standard cylinder ($150{\times}300mm$). Temperature effect on the cube specimen (150 mm) was the least in comparison to other specimen sizes and types. In general, provision of steel fibers in SCC mixtures resulted in a reduction in temperature effect on the variance of a conversion factor. Parametric study results confirm that the proposed numerical models are safe to be used for all types of SCC specimens.
In order to deeply reveal the working mechanism of ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) filled steel tubular columns (UHPCFSTs) under cyclic loading, a three-dimension (3D) macro-mesoscale finite element (FE) model was established considering the randomness of steel fibers and the damage of UHPC. Model correctness and reliability were verified based on the experimental results. Next, the whole failure process of UHPC reinforced with steel fibers, passive confinement effect and internal force distribution laws were comprehensively analyzed and discussed. Finally, a simplified and practical method was proposed for predicting the ultimate bending strengths of UHPCFSTs. It was found that the non-uniform confinement effect of steel tube occurred when the drift ratio exceeded 0.5%, while the confining stress increased then decreased afterwards. There was preferable synergy between the steel tube and UHPC until failure. Compared with experimental results, the ultimate bending strengths of UHPCFSTs were undervalued by the current code provisions such as AISC360-10, EC4 and GB50936 with computed mean values (MVs) of 0.855, 0.880 and 0.836, respectively. The proposed practical method was highly accurate, as evidenced by a mean value of 1.058.
