The purpose of this study was to evaluate the in vitro shear bond strengths to enamel and the failure sites of three ceramic brackets and one metal bracket in combination with light cured orthodontic adhesive. The brackets were divided into four groups. Each ceramic bracket group had different bonding mechanisms with adhesive. Group A; metal bracket with foil-mesh base (control group) Group B; ceramic bracket with micromechanical retention Group C; ceramic bracket with chemical bonding Group D; ceramic bracket with mechanical retention and chemical bonding. Forty extracted human lower first premolars were prepared for bonding and 10 brackets for each group were bonded to prepared enamel surfaces with $Transbond^{\circledR}$ light cured ortho dontic adhesive. Twenty four hours after bonding, the Instron universal testing machine was used to test the shear bond strength of brackets to enamel. After debonding, brackets and enamel surfaces were examined under stereoscopic microscope to determine the failure sites, Statistical analysis of the data was carried out with ANOVA test and $Scheff\acute{e}$ test using SPSS PC+. The results were as follows. 1 . There were statistically significant differences in mean shear bond strengths of three ceramic bracket groups (p < 0.05). Shear bond strengths of group C and D were significantly higher than that of group B and shear bond strength of group C was significantly higher than that of group D. 2. Group C and D both had significantly higher shear bond strengths than metal bracket (group A), but there were no significant differences in shear bond strengths between group A and B (p < 0.05). 3. The failure sites of four bracket groups were also different. Group C and D failed primarily at enamel-adhesive interface, but group A and B failed primarily at bracket base-adhesive interface. 4. Among all ceramic bracket groups, group B was very similar to metal bracket in the aspect of shear bond strength and failure site.
Material properties of geopolymer, whose the reaction is very complicated, have been influenced by chemical compositions and particle size distributions of fly ash, concentrations and types of alkali-activators and curing conditions such as temperatures and time. In this research, experiments with several variables such as curing temperatures, preset prior to the high temperature curing and high temperatures have been conducted in order to evaluate to investigate effects on the compressive strengths of geopolymer caused by curing condition. Experiment results were evaluated with compressive strengths and micro-structures such as SEM and MIP of geopolymer pastes. As a result, as higher curing temperature or longer preset time were applied to the pastes, higher compressive strengths were observed. However, compressive strengths of geopolymer pastes declined due to increases in macropores (>50 nm) under high temperatures elapsed after 24 hours. In this sense, it can be considered that strengths and microstructures of geopolymers depends on curing temperature and time.
This study had a focus on investigating technical validity of Two-Lift Concrete Pavements which had never been constructed in Korea in order to olve the problem of existing concrete pavements. This study found out the application of Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete (SFRC) which was one of ew techniques. Also, optimal steel fiber contents and pavement thickness were determined. This study also measured compressive strengths, lexural strengths, toughness indexes, tensile strengths and fatigue strengths to estimate the performance of SFRC of according to results of aboratory experiments, slumps and air contents of concrete specimens the standards satisfied and compressive strengths to open traffic. At bending ests, Toughness Index of SFRC increased but flexural strength didn’'t increase as compared with non-steel fiber concretes. And, energy absorption of SFRC was very good and SFRC showed improvement in freezing and thawing resistances. To complete this research, we will evaluate the pplication methods and performance of SFRC at field section.
Objective: With the introduction of third-generation light-emitting diodes (LEDs) in dental practice, it is necessary to compare their bracket-bonding effects, safety, and efficacy with those of the second-generation units. Methods: In this study, 80 extracted human premolars were randomly divided into eight groups of 10 samples each. Metal or polycrystalline ceramic brackets were bonded on the teeth using second- or third-generation LED light-curing units (LCUs), according to the manufacturers' instructions. The shear bond strengths were measured using the universal testing machine, and the adhesive remnant index (ARI) was scored by assessing the residual resin on the surfaces of debonded teeth using a scanning electron microscope. In addition, curing times were also measured. Results: The shear bond strengths in all experimental groups were higher than the acceptable clinical shear bond strengths, regardless of the curing unit used. In both LED LCU groups, all ceramic bracket groups showed significantly higher shear bond strengths than did the metal bracket groups except the plasma emulation group which showed no significant difference. When comparing units within the same bracket type, no differences in shear bond strength were observed between the second- and third-generation unit groups. Additionally, no significant differences were observed among the groups for the ARI. Conclusions: The bracket-bonding effects and ARIs of second- and third-generation LED LCUs showed few differences, and most were without statistical significance; however, the curing time was shorter for the second-generation unit.
PURPOSE. The bond strengths between resin denture teeth with various compositions and denture base resins including conventional and CAD/CAM purposed materials were evaluated to find influence of each material. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Cylindrical rods (6.0 mm diameter × 8.0 mm length) prepared from pre-polymerized CAD/CAM denture base resin blocks (PMMA Block-pink; Huge Dental Material, Vipi Block-Pink; Vipi Industria) were bonded to the basal surface of resin teeth from three different companies (VITA MFT®; VITA Zahnfabrik, Endura Posterio®; SHOFU Dental, Duracross Physio®; Nissin Dental Products Inc.) using resin cement (Super-Bond C&B; SUN MEDICAL). As a control group, rods from a conventional heat-polymerizing denture base resin (Vertex™ Rapid Simplified; Vertex-Dental B.V. Co.) were attached to the resin teeth using the conventional flasking and curing method. Furthermore, the effect of air abrasion was studied with the highly cross-linked resin teeth (VITA MFT®) groups. The shear bond strengths were measured, and then the fractured surfaces were examined to analyze the mode of failure. RESULTS. The shear bond strengths of the conventional heat-polymerizing PMMA denture resin group and the CAD/CAM denture base resin groups were similar. Air abrasion to VITA MFT® did not improve shear bond strengths. Interfacial failure was the dominant cause of failure for all specimens. CONCLUSION. Shear bond strengths of CAD/CAM denture base materials and resin denture teeth using resin cement are comparable to those of conventional methods.

This paper presents estimation of average compressive strengths of three types of stiffened panels under lateral pressure and axial compression based on simplified formulas from CSRs and nonlinear FEAs. FEA scenarios are prepared based on the slenderness ratios of the stiffened panels used for in-service vessels. The seven step lateral pressures by 1bar increment are imposed on FE models assuming maximum 30m water height. The number of FEAs for FB-, AB-, and TB-stiffened panels is totally 189 times. FEA results show that existence of pressure can evolves significant reduction of ultimate strengths, meanwhile CSR formulas do not take into account the lateral pressure effect. Lateral pressure acting on the stiffened panel with higher column slenderness ratio more reduces the ultimate strengths than those with smaller column slenderness ratio. A new concept of relative average compressive strain energy instead of the ultimate strength is introduced in order to rationally compare the average compressive strength through complete compressive straining regime. The differences of the ultimate strengths between CSR formulas and FEA results are relatively small for FB- and AB-stiffened panels, but larger discrepancies of relative average compressive strain energies are shown.

For the purpose of comparing the shear bond strengths of pit and fissure sealants, and finding out the more efficient method of tooth surface treatment when the etched surface is contaminaed by saliva or moisture, an experiment was performed on 3 types of pit and fissure sealants. 120 extracted human molars were divided into 3 groups, each of which was composed of 40 specimens sealed with Helioseal, Teethmate-F and Fuji III respectively. And each groups was again divided into 4 subgroups according to tooth surface treatment. The shear bond strengths of each groups and subgroup was measured and statistically analyzed. The results obtained were as follows : 1. Shear bond strengths of nonfluoridated resin sealant, Helioseal were shown to be higher than those of fluoridated resin sealant, Teethmate-F, but, not significantly different. 2. Shear bond strengths of GI sealant, Fuji III were to be markedly lower than those of two resin sealants. 3. When there is moisture contamination, applying primer under sealant(Group IV) results in a significantly stronger bond strength of sealant to enamel than when using sealant alone(Group II) in case of all sealants. 4. When there is no moisture contamination, using primer under sealant (Group III) results in bond strength equivalent to bond strength on using sealant alone (Group I). 5. Based on the results above, it was demonstrated that the bond of sealant to tooth surface is greatly affected by saliva contamination and that the complete tooth isolation method should be fully emphasized. The application of primer is recommended when performing sealant under the environment very susceptible to saliva contamination.
This study was to examine the effectiveness of Strengths-Focused Group Program in Korea by using method of Meta-analysis. For the purpose of the study, master's theses, doctoral dissertations, and journal articles published in Korea up to August, 2016 were systematically reviewed. First, the average effect sizes for Strengths-Focused Group Program were ES=1.400 of Psychological Wellbeing, ES= 1.104 of School Adjustment, ES= 0.908 of Self-Esteem. Second, the moderate variables of the effect size for Strengths-Focused Group Program was 'age' of ' a characteristic of the program', and 'the major of group leader'. Based on the study results, the research and practice implications were discussed.
Purpose: There are some advantages of the acrylic resin denture base ; appropriate strength, volume safety, simple processing apparatus, and low cost. But, it have a weakness for fracture by intense pressure or shock. However, the repairs for resin denture base are possible using various materials and techniques. There is a few studies in repairs for resin denture base, but not clinical researches. And there is no studies in absorbed saliva into the region of fracture and bond strength. This study is to observe re-bond strength of resin denture base after repairing under saliva absorption. Methods: The samples were made of heat curing resin and the rectangular parallelepiped specimens which were 50mm long, 10mm wide and 3mm high. The four different groups immersed in the artificial saliva for 2 weeks were prepared, 1) no repaired control samples, 2) immediately repaired samples, 3) repaired samples after 1 day dry, and 4) repaired samples after 3 days dry. The prepared samples were repaired by two different curing materials, self curing resin and heat curing resin method. Each groups composed of 10 specimens were experimented with the three point bending tests for bonding strength measuring Results: There were under condition absorbed in the artificial saliva and repaired by self curing resin method, repaired specimens after 1 day and 3 days dry groups had higher values of bonding strengths than control group, and bonding strengths of immediately repaired samples were similar to those of control samples (p<0.05). There were under condition immersed in the artificial saliva and repaired by heat curing resin method, immediately repaired samples showed similar values to bonding strengths of control groups, and repaired samples after 1 day and 3 days dry groups were lower than those of control group (p>0.05). Conclusion: In this study, the repairs for resin denture base were remarkably high values of bonding strengths than those of the past, and showed that have stable bonding strengths independent of saliva absorption of denture base, so present repairs for resin denture base can be performed, regardless of saliva conditions.
