An understanding of the influence of MR (Magmatic Rock) thickness on the surrounding rock behaviors is essential for the prevention and management of dynamic disasters in coal mining. In this study, we used FLC3D to study the breaking and instability laws of surrounding rock with different MR thicknesses in terms of strata movement, stress and energy. The mechanism of dynamic disasters was revealed. The results show that the thicker the MR is, (1) the smaller the subsidence of the overlying strata is, but the subsidence span of the overlying strata become wider, and the corresponding displacement deformation value of the basin edge become smaller. (2) the slower the growth rate of abutment pressure in front of the working face is, but the peak value is smaller, and the influence range is larger. The peak value decreases rapidly after the breaking, and the stress concentration coefficient is maintained at about 1.31. (3) the slower the peak energy in front of coal wall, but the range of energy concentration increases (isoline "O" type energy circle). Finally, a case study was conducted to verify the disaster-causing mechanism. We anticipate that the research findings presented herein can assist in the control of dynamic hazards.
Due to top-coal and immediate roof as cushion layer connecting with support and overlying strata, it can make significant influence on strata behaviors in fully mechanical top-coal caving working face (TCCWF). Taking Qingdong 828 working face as engineering background, $FLAC^{3D}$ and $UDEC^{2D}$ were adopted to explore the influence of top-coal thickness (TCT), immediate roof thickness (IRT), top-coal elastic modulus (TCEM) and immediate roof elastic modulus (IREM) on the vertical stress and vertical subsidence of roof, caving distance, and support resistance. The results show that the maximum roof subsidence increases with the increase of TCT and IRT as well as the decrease of TCEM and IREM, which is totally opposite to vertical stress in roof-control distance. Moreover, although the increase of TCEM and IREM leading to the increase of peak value of abutment pressure, the position and distribution range have no significant change. Under the condition of initial weighting occurrence, support resistance has negative and positive relationship with physical parameters (e.g., TCT and IRT) and mechanical properties (e.g., TCEM and IREM), respectively.

To improve the understanding of infiltration characteristic of modified slurry and the support efficiency of filter cake in silty sand strata, the slurry infiltration (SI) and filter cake formation (FCF) were investigated in a laboratory apparatus. The water discharge and the excess pore pressure at different depths of silty sand strata were measured during SI. The relationship between permeability coefficient/thickness ratio of filter cake (kc/ΔL) and effective slurry pressure conversion rate of filter cake (η) were analyzed. Moreover, the SI and FCF process as well as the modification mechanism of CMC (carboxymethyl cellulose) were clarified. The experimental results indicate the formation of only external filter cake in the silty sand strata. The slurry particles obtain thicker water membrane after being modified by CMC, which blocks partial water path in filter cake and decreases the water discharge significantly. The silty sand excavated from tunnel face also contributes to the water discharge reduction. The kc of the external filter cake ranges from 3.83×10-8 cm/s to 7.44×10-8 cm/s. The η of the external filter cake is over 96%, which decreases with increasing kc/ΔL. A silty sand content within 10% is suggested during construction to ensure the uniformity of the filter cake.
A study of the evolution of overburden fractures under the solid-fluid coupling state was conducted based on the geological and mining characteristics of the coal seam depth, weak strata cementation, and high-intensity mining in the mining areas of West China. These mining characteristics are key to achieving water conservation during mining or establishing groundwater reservoirs in coal mines. Based on the engineering background of the Daliuta Coal Mine, a non-hydrophilic simulation material suitable for simulating the weakly cemented rock masses in this area was developed, and a physical simulation test was carried out using a water-sand gushing test system. The study explored the spatial distribution and dynamic evolution of the fractured zone in the mining overburden under the coupling of stress and seepage. The experimental results show that the mining overburden can be vertically divided into the overall migration zone, the fracture extension zone and the collapse zone; additionally, in the horizontal direction, the mining overburden can be divided into the primary fracture zone, periodic fracture zone, and stop-fracture zone. The scope of groundwater flow in the overburden gradually expands with the mining of coal seams. When a stable water inrush channel is formed, other areas no longer generate new channels, and the unstable water inrush channels gradually close. Finally, the primary fracture area becomes the main water inrush channel for coal mines. The numerical simulation results indicate that the overlying rock breaking above the middle of the mined-out area allows the formation of the water-conducting channel. The water body will flow into the fracture extension zone with the shortest path, resulting in the occurrence of water bursting accidents in the mining face. The experimental research results provide a theoretical basis for the implementation of water conservation mining or the establishment of groundwater reservoirs in western mining areas, and this theoretical basis has considerable application and promotion value.
Food away from home consumption pattern difference among 20 different social strata has been observed in order to make judgement how much food away from home expenditure should be included in the 2 tiered poverty line. It was found that it was reasonable to include food away from home expenditure in the minimum living cost. And as social class rose expenditure amount and percentage of consumption compared to total food expenditure increased and income elasticity and margial propensity decreased. Percentage of consumption compared to total expenditure increased up to middle class however from 14/20 and up strata decreased as social strata rose. For 4 members city wage earner family suggested monthly poverty line is 16, 977 and suggested monthly relative poverty line is 60, 651.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of 'strata-fossils' STEAM program with questions on the academic achievement, creative problem-solving ability and scientific interests of elementary students. For this purpose, the STEAM program with questions was developed and applied to the third and fourth graders in elementary school. As a result, the academic achievement, creative problem-solving ability and scientific interests of the group applying the program showed a significant improvement in the post-test than the pre-test. The result of learner satisfaction survey of the STEAM program was also high. This means that the STEAM program class with questions for 'strata-fossils' could be meaningful works to encourage students' academic achievement as well as their creative problem-solving ability and scientific interests. Therefore, it seems necessary to apply for other themes in elementary science continuously.

To calculate proper seismic design load and seismic design category, the exact site class for construction site is required. At present, the average shear-wave velocity for multi-layer soil deposits is calculated by the sum of shear-wave velocities without considering of vertical relationship of the strata. In this study, the transfer function for the multi-layered soil deposits was reviewed on the basis of the wave propagation theory. Also, the transfer function was accurately verified by the finite element model and the eigenvalue analysis. Three methods for site period estimation were evaluated. The sum of shear-wave velocities underestimated the average shear-wave velocities of 526 strata with large deviations. The equation of Mexican code overestimated the average shear-wave velocities. The equation of Japanese code well estimated the average shear-wave velocities with small deviation.
A comprehensive, nonsteady state, computer simulation program for the environmental conditions in advancing tunnels (the HEADSIM simulation program) is constructed and successfully validated with heat balance amongst all heat sources, and with mass conservation amongst various airflows including the leakage air from ducts, under timedependent variations of inlet air conditions. which include sudden, diurnal and seasonal changes. Heat conduction in the wall strata and face strata is simulated with most complicated boundary conditions using the finite difference method, and the climatic conditions in roadway sections which contain air ducts, booster fan, spray cooler, compressed air pipes, cold water pipes, return water pipes, machinery and broken rock are simulated taking into account the variations of face operation and the heat storage mechanism in the strata. The limitations of simulation time steps and roadway section lengths are defined according to the stability criteria satisfying the principles of thermodynamics. Variations of heat transfer coefficients, which are newly set, and those of wetness factors are taken into account according to the variations of other parameters and the stepwise advance of the face. Newly-derived formulae are used for computing the air duct leakage and the pressure inside of the duct. A new concept of an 'imaginary duct' is introduced to simulate the climatic conditions in tunnels during holiday periods, which directly affect conditions on subsequent working days under the consideration of natural convection. A subsidiary program (the WALLSIM simulation program) is made to compute the dimensionless tunnel surface temperatures and to compare the results with those from analytical approaches, and to demonstrate the stability, convergence and accuracy of the strata heat conduction simulation, adopting the finite difference method. The WALLSIM also has wide applications, including those for the computation of age coefficients.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the geothermal anomaly based on the relationship between heat flow values and geologic settings in South Korea. For this, a total of 247 heat flow data was constructed to spatial database and the spatial database was overlaid with 1 : 1,000,000-scale digital geologic map using GIS. As the result, the average of heat flow is 64$\pm$14mW$m^{-2}$in South Korea. In the lithological aspect, the area of sedimentary rock shows high heat flow of 74mW$m^{-2}$, sedimentary/volcanic rock area 62mW$m^{-2}$, plutonic rock area 63mW$m^{-2}$ and metamorphic rock area 61mW$m^{-2}$. In the geologic time sequence, the Cenozoic strata has 91mW$m^{-2}$, the Mesozoic and Paleozoic strata 65mW$m^{-2}$, the Proterozoic strata 55mW$m^{-2}$ and the Archean strata 61mW$m^{-2}$.
In clinical trials, patients should be randomly allocated to treatment and control groups that consider the balance of their prognostic factors(covariates). There are many randomization methods and stratification is popular in Korea. In stratification, patients are divided into strata based on covariates and then the patients are randomly assigned to the arms of each strata. If the number of covariates increases then the number of strata increases rapidly and the results may not be reliable when the patients are inadequate in each strata. To complement this problem Pocock and Simon (1975) suggested a new randomization method that called for minimization focusing on the balance of covariates. In this study, we compare the advantages and disadvantages, the imbalance of covariates, the power of minimization, and other randomization methods by simulation.
