In this paper, the boost Power Factor Correction(PFC) technique for Direct Torque Control(DTC) of brushless DC motor drive in the constant torque region is implemented on a TMS320F2812DSP. Unlike conventional six-step PWM current control, by properly selecting the inverter voltage space vectors of the two-phase conduction mode from a simple look-up table at a predefined sampling time, the desired quasi-square wave current is obtained, therefore a much faster torque response is achieved compared to conventional current control. Furthermore, to eliminate the low-frequency torque oscillations caused by the non-ideal trapezoidal shape of the actual back-EMF waveform of the BLDC motor, a pre-stored back-EMF versus position look-up table is designed. The duty cycle of the boost converter is determined by a control algorithm based on the input voltage, output voltage which is the dc-link of the BLDC motor drive, and inductor current using average current control method with input voltage feed-forward compensation during each sampling period of the drive system. With the emergence of high-speed digital signal processors(DSPs), both PFC and simple DTC algorithms can be executed during a single sampling period of the BLDC motor drive. In the proposed method, since no PWM algorithm is required for DTC or BLDC motor drive, only one PWM output for the boost converter with 80 kHz switching frequency is used in a TMS320F2812 DSP. The validity and effectiveness of the proposed DTC of BLDC motor drive scheme with PFC are verified through the experimental results. The test results verify that the proposed PFC for DTC of BLDC motor drive improves power factor considerably from 0.77 to as close as 0.9997 with and without load conditions.
We describe a technique for automatically proving compiler optimizations sound, meaning that their transformations are always semantics-preserving. As is well known, IR (Intermediate Representation) optimization is an important step in a compiler backend. But unfortunately, it is difficult to detect and debug the IR optimization errors for compiler developers. So, we introduce a C level error check system for detecting the correctness of these IR transformation techniques. In our system, we first create an IR-to-C converter to translate IR to C code before and after each compiler optimization phase, respectively, since our technique is based on the Memory Comparison-based Clone(MeCC) detector which is a tool of detecting semantic equivalency in C level. MeCC accepts only C codes as its input and it uses a path-sensitive semantic-based static analyzer to estimate the memory states at exit point of each procedure, and compares memory states to determine whether the procedures are equal or not. But MeCC cannot guarantee two semantic-equivalency codes always have 100% similarity or two codes with different semantics does not get the result of 100% similarity. To increase the reliability of the results, we describe a technique which comprises how to generate C codes in IR-to-C transformation phase and how to send the optimization information to MeCC to avoid the occurrence of these unexpected problems. Our methodology is illustrated by three familiar optimizations, dead code elimination, instruction scheduling and common sub-expression elimination and our experimental results show that the C level error check system is highly reliable.

As attackers try to paralyze information security systems, many researchers have investigated security testing to analyze vulnerabilities of information security products. Penetration testing, a critical step in the development of any secure product, is the practice of testing a computer systems to find vulnerabilities that an attacker could exploit. Security testing like penetration testing includes gathering information about the target before the test, identifying possible entry points, attempting to break in and reporting back the findings. Therefore, to obtain maximum generality, re-usability and efficiency is very useful for efficient security testing and vulnerability hunting activities. In this paper, we propose a threat analysis based software security testing technique for evaluating that the security functionality of target products provides the properties of self-protection and non-bypassability in order to respond to attacks to incapacitate or bypass the security features of the target products. We conduct a security threat analysis to identify vulnerabilities and establish a testing strategy according to software modules and security features/functions of the target products after threat analysis to improve re-usability and efficiency of software security testing. The proposed technique consists of threat analysis and classification, selection of right strategy for security testing, and security testing. We demonstrate our technique can systematically evaluate the strength of security systems by analyzing case studies and performing security tests.

Purpose: In Asan Medical Center, Two parallel opposite beams are employed for total body irradiation. Patients are required to be in supine position where two arms are attached to mid axillary line. Normally, physical compensators are required to compensate the large dose difference for different parts of body due to the different thicknesses compared to the umbilicus separation. There was the maximum dose difference up to 30% in lung and chest wall compared to the prescription dose. In order to resolve the dose discrepancy occurring on different body regions, the feasibility of using Fieid-in-Field Technique is investigated in this study. Materials and Methods: CT scan was performed to The RANDO Phantom with fabricated two arms and sent to Eclipse treatment planning system (version 10.0, Varian, USA). Conventional plan with physical lead compensator and new plan using Field-in-Field Technique were established on TPS. AAA (Anisotropic Analytical Algorithm) dose calculation algorithm was employed for two parallel opposite beams attenuation. Results: The dose difference between two methods was compared with the prescription dose. The dose distribution of chest and anterior chest wall uncovered by patient arms was 114~124% for physical lead compensator while Field-in-Field Technique gave 106~107% of the dose distribution. In-vivo dosimetry result using TLD showed that the dose distribution to the same region was 110~117% for conventional physical compensator and 104~107% for Field-in-Field Technique. Conclusion: In this study, the feasibility of using FIF technique has been investigated with fabricated arms attached Rando phantom. The dose difference was up to 17% due to the attached arms. It is shown that the dose homogeneity is within ${\pm}10%$ with the CT based 3-dimensional 4 step FIF technique. The in-vivo dosimetry result using TLD was showed that 95~107% dose distribution compared to prescription dose. It is considered that CT based 3-dimensional Field-in-Field Technique for the total body irradiation gives much homogeneous dose distribution for different body parts than the conventional physical compensator method and might be useful to evaluate the dose on each part of patient body.
The purpose of this study was to compare the histomorphological change of curved root canal preparation using GT rotary File, Profile .04 taper and stainless steel K-file. 45 mesial canals(over 20 degree) of extracted human mandibular first molars were mounted in resin using a modified Bramante muffle system and divided into three groups. The roots were cross-sectioned at 2.5mm 5mm and 8mm levels from apical foramen. Tracings of the canals were made from preinstrumentation pictures of the cross section. The canals were prepared using a step-back technique with stainless steel K file(group 1), Profile .04 taper rotary file(group 2) and GT rotary file(group 3). Tracings of the prepared canals were made from postinstrumentation picture. Canal centring ratio. amount of transportation, area of dentin removed and shape of canal were measured and statistically were evaluated with Student-Newman-Keuls test using Sigma Stat(Jandel Scientific Software, USA). The results were as followings : 1 Amount of transportation of group 2 was the lowest at apical part, but there was no statistical difference. The direction of transportation was the outside of curvature at apical part. 2. Centering ratio at the apical part of group 1 was the highest, and there was statistical differences between apical and middle part, apical and coronal part(p<0.05). Centering ratio at the middle part of group 3 was the lowest, and there was statistical difference between apical and middle part(p<0.05). Centering ratio of group 2 was the lowest at apical part, but there was no statistical difference. 3. Amount of dentin removed of group 1 was the highest at coronal, middle and apical part among three groups, and there was statistical difference(p<0.05). 4. The majority of the cross-sectioned canal shape after instrumentation were irregular at coronal, middle and apical part. But there are more number of round shaped canals at group 3 than other group.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the sealing ability of five obturation methods in conjunction with sealer. Fifty extracted upper and lower anterior teeth were selected and the access cavities were prepared lingually with a round bur. The working length was determined with a #15K file, and the root canals were instrumented with a #40K file 1mm short of the apical foramen. The apical third of root canal was flared by step-back technique and the coronal two thirds of root canal using #2 - 3 Gates Glidden drills. And then, the teeth were randomly assigned to five groups of 10 teeth each. A thin coat of Tubliseal was placed into the canal into the canal using the # 35 reamer and the canals were filled by lateral condensation, vertical condensation, ultrasonic activated lateral condensation, ULTRAFIL injecting, and McSpadden compaction methods. All teeth were stored in 100 % relative humidity at 31c for 48 hours. The roots were suspended in 2 % methylene blue solution for 48 hours, left to dry for 24 hours and then, half side of root was removed longitudinally using the fissure bur. A Boley gauge wes used to measure the distance, to the nearest 0.1mm, from the apical foramen to the most coronal level of dye penetration. The measurement of dye penetration was statistically compared by Duncan's multiple range test The results were as follows 1. Ultrasonic group showed the best sealing ability among the all experimental groups, but there were statistically no significant difference in the sealing ability between ultrasonic group and vertical condensation group. 2. There were no statistically significant difference in the sealing ability among the lateral, vertical, and ultrasonic groups. 3. McSpadden group showed the worst sealing ability among the all exprimental groups.
Stereo cameras are the most widely used sensing systems for automated machines including robots to interact with their three-dimensional(3D) working environments. The position of a target point in the 3D world coordinates can be measured by the use of stereo cameras and the camera calibration is an important preliminary step for the task. Existing camera calibration techniques can be classified into two large categories - linear and nonlinear techniques. While linear techniques are simple but somewhat inaccurate, the nonlinear ones require a modeling process to compensate for the lens distortion and a rather complicated procedure to solve the nonlinear equations. In this paper, a method employing a neural network for the calibration problem is described for tackling the problems arisen when existing techniques are applied and the results are reported. Particularly, it is shown experimentally that by utilizing the function approximation capability of multi-layer neural networks trained by the back-propagation(BP) algorithm to learn the error pattern of a linear technique, the measurement accuracy can be simply and efficiently increased.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the adaptation of root canal filling material to the dentinal wall of root canal and to compare the sealing ability of the root canal filling materials using ultrasonic endodontic instrument with injection-molded thermoplasticized gutta-percha filling method and lateral condensation method. Fifty fresh human single root exlracted for orthodontic treatment, were randomly selected, and instrumented by step-back technique. And then, the teeth were divided into 5 groups according to each root canal filling methods. In the experimental group 1 and group 2, the root canals were filled with gutta perdia cases using ultrasonic instrument with and without sealer. In the experimental group 3 and 4, using jection-moldeed thermoplasticized gutta-percha method by obtul$^{(R)}$ canals were filled with and without sealer. In the control group, the canals were filled with sealer by lateral candensation. And then, 5 teeth of each group were immersed in black Indian ink, decalcified and cleared. The depth of dye penetration into the root canal were evaluated with stereoscope (Reichert Ltd., USA). Among the 5 teeth remaining in each group, the single longituding grooves were made on the labial and lingual root surfaces and then immersed in the liquid nitrogen to fracture the teeth spontaneously without any distortions of gutta-percha. Each specimens were examined with X-650 Scanning Electron Microscope(Hitachi ltd, Japan) to show the adaptation to the canal wall, void, homogenicity of filling material and location of gutta-percha or sealer in the dentinal tubules of the root canal. The observations were as follows : 1. The experimental group 1 showed smaller mean dye penetration than control group, and showed the penetraton of sealer in the dentinal tubules of apical third of the root canal. 2. The experimental group 2 and group 4 showed the penetration of gutta-percha in the dentinal tubules of root canals. 3. The experimental group 1 and group 3 showed less mean dye penetration than the experimental group 2 and group 4. 4. The experimental group 1 and group 2 showed better adaptation of filling materials than control group.
The aim of this study was to determine the shaping ability of stainless-steel K file (S-S K file), nickel-titanium K file (Ni-Ti K file) and engine driven nickel-titanium file (Quantec file) in resin simulated root canal. Computed tomography was used to evaluate the change of the root canal morphology. Thirty nine resin simulated root canal were divided into four groups (A:12, B:12, C:12, D:3). Resin simulated canals were scanned by computed tomography before instrumentation (1st C-T scan). Canals were instrumented using step back preparation technique with S-S K file in group A and Ni-Ti K file in group B. Group C was prepared with engine driven Ni-Ti file. Group D was uninstrumented to compare the 1st C-T scan images with 2nd C-T scan images of root canal. Instrumented canals were again scanned using computed tomography (2nd C-T scan), and reformated images of the uninstrumented canals were compared with images of the instrumented canals. In the sections of 2mm and 6mm from the apex, Quantec file caused significantly less canal transportation than S-S K file and Ni-Ti K file (p<0.05). Quantec file produced more centered than S-S K file and Ni-Ti K file in the sections of 2mm and 4mm from the apex (p<0.05). There was no significant difference in the removed volume of canals among the each groups (p>0.05). However the removed canal volume from the apex to 5mm were significantly higher than them from 5mm to 1mm (p<0.05) in each groups. Under the conditions of this study, preparation with Quantec file was more effective and produce more appropriate canal shapes than S-S K file and Ni-Ti K file.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of moisture on apical sealing properties of root canal. Fifty five single rooted human teeth were selected from maxillary and mandibular teeth. After removing crown portion at the cemento-enamel junction, all teeth were routinely prepared with step-back method. And then, the canals were dried with paper point and the teeth were randomly divided into 3 groups of 15 teeth each, and remaining 10 teeth were used as positive and negative control teeth : Group 1 were irrigated with 1ml of 95% alcohol and dried with air and paper point. Group 2 and 3 were intentionally contaminated with 0.05ml of 3.5% NaOCl or saliva, respectively. All the teeth were obturated with sealapex and gutta percha cone by lateral condensation technique, and covered with two coat of nail varnish after 48 hours of obturation. The teeth were immersed in india ink for 1 week and cleaned with methyl salicylate and then the degree of dye penetration were measured with stereomicroscope. The data were analyzed statistically by one-way ANOVA. The results were as follows : 1. All experimental groups showed varying degrees of dye penetration, and the mean degree of dye penetration was 0.1mm to 0.7mm. 2. Saliva contamination group(group 3) showed the highest amount of dye penetration, followed by NaOCl contamination group, then alcohol dried group, but there was no significant difference among three experimental groups. * This results suggest that there was no significant differences of apical leakage after canal obturation between alcohol dried canal and moisture present canals and the use of alcohol instead of paper point is unnecessary to dry the canals prior to canal filling. But other factors such as bacterial contamination and sealer discoloration by moisture must be considered in application of this results to clinical practice.
