증기처리가 양모섬유의 염색성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Steam Treatment on Dyeing Properties of Wool Fibers)

  • Merino wool top and fabric have been treated with steams such as superheated steam or high pressure steam. Moisture regain, water absorbency, water penetration, zeta potential, ESCA, SEM, and dyeing behavior were studied. Negative electric potential on the surface of wool fibers by steam treatment became higher than untreated. From the results of ESCA measurement, intensity of $O_{1s}$ was increased by steam treatment. Rate of dyeing and saturation dye exhaustion of wools increased by steam treatment, especially high pressure steam treatment. Moisture regain, water absorbency, water penetration, and surface appearances by SEM photographs of the steam-treated wools didn't change. There is no relationship between dyeing of the steam-treated wool and wettability to water. Therefore It seems likely that relaxation of adhesive filler in interscale of wool by steam treatment accelerate dye penetration into the fiber.

과열증기처리에 의한 Burley종 각초의 물리성 및 연기성분 변화에 관한 연구 (Effect of Super Heated Steam Treatment on Physical Property and Smoke Component of Burley Cut Tobacco)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effects of super heated steam on the physical and chemical changes of burley cut tobacco. Total sugar, total alkaloid, ether extracts, crude ash, total nitrogen and pH for leaf chemical constituents were analyzed. Filling power and fineness index for physical properties, and carbonyl compounds, phenol compounds, amonia, pH, hydrogen cyanide nicotine, carbon monoxide, total volatile base and tar for smoke components were also analyzed. The cut tobacco treated with super heated steam showed significant decrease in total sugar and total alkaloid. The filling power of the sample treated with the super heated steam system was increased abruptly when heated at over 250℃. The fineness index showed similar tendency to that of common toast method. Super heated steam treatment slightly decreased carbonyl compounds, phenol compounds, hydrogen cyanide, nicotine, carbon monoxide and tar in the tobacco. Especially the decrease of ammonia was the most remarkable. The pH of smoke was a little different compared with that in the common toast. The sensory test results showed that, compared to the common conveyer moving system, the tobacco treated with super heated steam system brought out more roasted flavor, lowered impact, irritation, and sting, further improved aftertaste, and lowered bitterness. The super heated steam treatment method used in the studies is expected to give better filling power, mild taste and toasted odor of tobacco than that of the common method for toast treatment. 사상체질처방과 훈증요법을 병행한 여드름 치험 6례 (Six Cases of Acne Vulgaris Treated by Sasang Constitutional Treatment with Herbal Steam Therapy)

  • Objectives : This study was to performed to investigate the effect of herbal steam therapy on acne vulgaris. Methods : 6 patients with acne vulgaris were treated with korean medicine therapy (herbal medicine and acupunture) including herbal steam therapy. We evaluated the effect by Korean Acne Grading System(KAGS) and Pictures. Results : After treatment, the KAGS Grade of all patients treated with korean medicine therapy including herbal steam therapy is 1. Based on this, we could find that korean medicine therapy including herbal steam therapy is effective and available to ameliorate for the symptoms of acne vulgaris. Conclusions : This clinical cases study shows us that korean medicine therapy including herbal steam therapy seem to be effective to improve symptoms of acne vulgaris. Further studies will be needed to identify herbal steam therapy is beneficial to acne vulgaris.

초급속 과열증기를 이용한 인삼의 품질 특성 (Quality Characteristics of Ginseng Treated by Hot Air Drying after Being Dried using Super-heated Steam)

  • 과열증기 건조처리 후 열풍 건조한 인삼의 건조율이 열풍 건조만으로 건조한 인삼에 비하여 약 40%의 빠른 건조율을 나타내었다. 일반성분의 함량에 있어서 조지방, 조단백질, 조섬유 및 회분 함량의 경우 두처리구간 큰 차이가 없었다. 무기질 및 유리당 함량의 경우에 있어서도 두 처리구간 큰 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 조사포닌 함량의 경우 과열증기 처리 후 열풍건조한 인삼분말의 조사포닌 함량은 5.43% 그리고 열풍건조만 한 인삼분말의 조사포닌 함량은 5.4%로 두시료간 큰 차이가 없었다. 색깔의 경우 적색도를 나타내는 a값에서 과열증기 건조 후 열풍건조 처리한 인삼분말이 열풍건조한 인삼분말에 비하여 약간 높은 결과를 나타내었다. 인삼분말의 미생물 수의 경우 과열증기 건조 후 열풍 건조한 인삼분말이 열풍건조한 인삼분말에 비하여 일반세균 및 효모곰팡이가 약 2 log 정도 감소하였고 대장균군의 경우는 약 1 log 정도 감소한 결과를 나타내었다.

비열 및 열처리에 따른 보리의 알코올발효 특성 (Properties of Alcohol Fermentation from Barley Treated with Non-steam and Steam)

  • 본 연구에서는 비열 및 열처리에 따른 5종류의 보리 품종별 알코올발효 특성을 조사하였다. 비열처리구에서 알코올 함량은 쌀보리, 찰쌀보리 및 흰찰쌀보리가 각각 1.7, 2.9 및 4.3%로 나타났으며 보리와 찰보리는 발효가 되지 않았다. 열처리구에서 비열처리구에 비해 전반적으로 골은 알코올생성능을 보였다. 당도는 비열처리구의 보리 및 찰보리가 $9.0\;^{\circ}Brix$ 전후의 높은 당도를 나타내었고 쌀보리, 찰쌀보리, 흰찰쌀보리가 $5.0\;^{\circ}Brix$ 전후의 당도로 나타났다. 열처리구의 당도는 알코올생성능과 반비례 경향이었으며 알코올발효 종료 후 쌀보리를 제외하고는 당함량이 50%이상 감소되었다. 비열처리구에서 산도는 흰찰쌀보리가 0.51%로 나타났으며 나머지 시료들은0.80%이상의 수치를 보여 산패의 가능성을 보였고, 열처리구에서는 모든 시료들이 0.3%이하의 수치로 나타났다. 유리당은 비열처리구의 보리와 찰보리가 알코올을 생성하지 않았으므로 유리당 총함량은 4,000.0 mg%전후로 높게 나타났고 쌀보리, 찰쌀보리 및 흰찰쌀보리는 300.0mg%전후의 함량으로 나타났다. 열처리구에서는 당도가 높을수록 유리당 총 함량이 높게 나타났으며 이상의 결과 보리는 열처리에 비해 비열처리 알코올 발효에는 적합하지 않았다.

참나무재의 약액함침 처리가 폭쇄 및 산소-알칼리펄프화에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Chemical Pretreatment on Steam Explosion and Oxygen-alkali Pulping of Oak Wood)

  • The potential of oxygen delignification is a powerful tool to reduce detrimental environmental effects. This study was performed to investigate the effect of steam explosion treatment of chemically treated oak wood on oxygen-alkali pulping. Pulp yield during steam explosion treatment by ${Na_2}{O_3}$-NaOH impregnation was higher than the other impregnation chemicals. Also, NaOH extraction at room temperature after steam explosion treatment improved the kappa number from 140~116 to 90~64. Oxygen-alkali pulping of chemical steam explosion treated woods affected to pulp yields. ${Na_2}{O_3}$-NaOH impregnation was very effective to higher carbohydrate yields at same delignification level. Its carbohydrate yield seemed to be highly related to the effluent pH. Oxygen-alkali pulping after steam explosion treatment of ${Na_2}{O_3}$-NaOH impregnated wood was shown that carbohydrate yield was very high because its effluent pH was increase from natural to mild alkali. Even if oxygen bleaching limit the delignification to 50% in order to avoid unacceptable yield and viscosity losses, oxygen-alkali pulping after steam explosion by ${Na_2}{O_3}$-NaOH impregnation was possible to extend the delignification more than 80%. Considering high pulp yield with lower lignin content from steam explosion treated wood, it might be profitable to end the cook at a high kappa number instead of a low kappa number, and continuously apply the oxygen delignification, in order to better quality pulp.

12개월 야외 내후성 시험에 의한 과열증기 열처리된 낙엽송재의 열화 평가 (Evaluation of Deterioration of Larix kaempferi Wood Heat-treated by Superheated Steam through Field Decay Test for 12 Months)

  • 본 연구에서는 과열증기를 이용하여 열처리한 낙엽송재의 야외 내후성 시험을 통해 부후균과 해충에 대한 저항성을 평가하였다. 12개월간 진행된 야외 내후성 시험 결과, 무처리재는 흰개미에 의한 피해가 두드러지게 나타났지만 방부목재와 과열증기 열처리재에서는 육안으로 관찰되는 피해는 발견되지 않았다. 무처리재와 방부목재는 약 5%의 질량 감소를 보였으며, 과열증기 열처리재는 약 1%의 질량 감소를 보였다. 야외 내후성 시험이 진행된 후 방부목재에 남아있는 방부약제의 함량이 야외 내후성 시험 전보다 감소한 것으로 보아 야외 내후성 시험이 진행되는 동안 방부약제가 일부 용출된 것으로 보이며, 이에 따라 방부목재의 질량 감소가 무처리재와 유사한 수준으로 나타난 것으로 생각되었다. 과열증기를 이용한 열처리는 방부약제 주입과 같은 화학적인 처리 없이 친환경적으로 목재의 부후균과 해충에 대한 저항성을 개선시킬 수 있는 가능성이 확인되었으며, 이를 위하여 장기적인 관찰이 추가적으로 필요할 것이라 생각된다.

Anaerobic Fermentation of Woody Biomass Treated by Various Methods

  • Anaerobic fermentation was attempted to produce methane from the wood chip (Eucalyptus globulus). By the pretreatment of the wood chip using hot water with high temperature, NaOH, and steam explosion, the production of methane gas was enhanced. The pretreatment using Steam explosion resulted in more amount of methane gas produced than the treatment using either hot water or 1% (w/w) NaOH with high temperature, and the steam explosion at a steam pressure of 25 atm and a steaming time of 3 min was the most effective for the methane production. The amount of methane gas produced depended on the ratio of weight of Klason lignin, a high molecular weight lignin, in the treated wood chip.

훈증요법을 병행한 기침환자 28명에 대한 임상적 평가 (Clinical Assessment of 28 Patients with Cough Treated with Herbal Steam Therapy)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical effects of herbal steam therapy on cough. Twenty-eight patients with cough who had treated with herbal steam therapy(chungsang, chungpae) between 3rd of January and 30th of April, 2013 were analyzed. The effects were evaluated the severity and frequency of cough as the modified questionnaire, severity of discomfort using visual analogue scale(VAS), and the patients' subjective satisfaction. Eighteen patients who had been treated herbal steam therapy over 3 times were analyzed improvements before and after therapy. Chungsang and Chungpae steam therapies significantly decreased the severity and frequency of cough. VAS scores also decreased from $7.78{\pm}0.878$ to $4.39{\pm}2.033$. Patients were satisfied with herbal steam therapy. Chungsang and Chungpae steam therapies seem to be effective in the treatment of cough. Further studies with a large number of cases will be needed in the future.

국우(菊芋) 증자가 혈당강하작용에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of steam heat processing of Helianthus tuberosi Rhizoma on Blood glucose lowering)

  • Objective : This study was designed to evaluate the hypoglycemic effects of Helianthus tuberosi Rhizoma extracts and its optimum Heat processing conditions Methods : We investigated the Salivary ${\alpha}$-amylase, pancreas ${\alpha}$-amylase and ${\alpha}$-glucosidase inhibitory activities of extracts from Steam Heated Helianthus tuberosi Rhizoma Ext. The inhibitory activities of a 50% EtOH extract of Steam Heated Helianthus tuberosi Rhizoma Ext against ${\alpha}$-glucosidases were evaluated in this study. Inhibiting these enzymes involved in the absorption of disaccharides significantly decreases the postprandial increase in blood glucose level after a mixed carbohydrate diet. Furthermore, the postprandial blood glucose lowering effect of Steam Heated Helianthus tuberosi Rhizoma Ext. was compared to a known type 2 diabetes drug(Acarbose(R)) in a mice model. Steam Heated Helianthus tuberosus L. Ext significantly reduced the blood glucose increase after glucose loading. Results : The results were confirmed by real-time PCR that after treated with Streptozotocin in L6 cells, induced expression of GLUT4, after the steamed Helianthus tuberosus L. Ext. treated, observed its expression was increased. Steam Heated Helianthus tuberosus L Ext treated 4 hours in L6 cells, cytotoxicity was measured in MTT assay. Its toxicity were 5.7%, 9% and 11.3% at the treatment concentration $12.5{\mu}g/m{\ell}$, $25{\mu}g/m{\ell}$, the $50{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ respectively. Conclusions : Overall, the results of this study indicate that Hypoglycemic effect of Helianthus tuberosi Rhizoma caused by the Steam heat treatment, the optimum Heat processing condition is steamming at $121^{\circ}C$ for 30 min, and it will provide the basis for developing a useful dietary supplement for controlling postprandial hyperglycemia.
