  • In this study, water resource topics, infrastructure, water supply, users, and economic indicators based on statistical annual standards for evaluating water welfare were selected by examining domestic and foreign water resource-related indicators. The level of water welfare was evaluated relative to 23 cities and counties in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do using data from the Statistical yearbook, and places with high value of indicators urbanization and large populations were excellent in the infrastructure field, but overall analysis showed that small and medium-sized cities had higher levels. It is judged that it is necessary to develop continuous research and indicators that can evaluate and quantify the level of physical welfare that the people can feel by utilizing the results of this study. In future studies, it is necessary to systematically evaluate the level of water welfare by local governments in Korea through more diverse evaluation items and detailed indicators for each item so that it can be used as basic data for realizing water welfare.

  • This study was conducted to propose a new "Statistical Indicators of Libraries for the Disabled (SILD)" to collect objective and reliable data from such libraries. The previous researches and related literature were reviewed to compare current national statistical indicators. The draft of a new SILD, which was based on the current SILD, was made by deriving from countable factors at the library. These were selected from various parts of the library sectors, such as the library-related laws, library standards, evaluation indices of library service for the disabled, and statistical indicators of libraries for the disabled from IFLA, ISO, and other major countries. The draft was compared to the current SILD. The draft was then reviewed by five librarians and on-site experts working at the library for the disabled to see if they have any comments on each item of the draft. The new SILD is composed of 26 items in seven categories, and it can be used in understanding the present situation of libraries for the disabled.

  • Objectives This study was designed to investigate the correlation between the gait analysis indices and Lumbar X-ray indicators. Methods 21 cases of patients who received treatment from October 2013 to February 2017 for abnormal posture were analyzed. Three indicators were measured in the lumbar spine X-ray. These indicators include Ferguson's angle, Lumbar lordotic angle, L4-5 IVD angle. Gait analysis indices were estimated by Treadmill Gait Analysis system. The data were analyzed to find out correlation between the gait analysis indices and Lumbar X-ray indicators. Spearman correlation was used. Results Ferguson's angle and Difference of gait balance of front and rear had a negative linear relationship, but there was no statistical significance. Lumbar lordotic angle and Difference of gait balance of front and rear had a negative linear relationship, but there was no statistical significance. L4-5 IVD angle and Difference of gait balance of right and left had a negative linear relationship, but there was no statistical significance. Conclusions Difference of gait balance of front and rear had strong level of a negative linear relationship with Ferguson's angle and Lumbar lordotic angle.

  • As small libraries are now considered as public libraries, it is time to discuss a policy decision for institutional complement, supporting policy frame, and activating management of small libraries. There is a need to improve statistical indicators of small libraries, as an effort to improve library statistics as a whole. Small libraries in National Library Statistics have been using an altered version of 2008 library statistiscal frame, which was solely designed for public libraries. However, due to the inadequacy of indicators, results show 91.3% of missing values and high rates of errors in collected data. This research select the key statistical indicators for small libraries by analyzing 4 researches of present states and 7 researches of measuring indicators. The research, therefore, proposed an improved version of statistical indicators, by advising of the professional groups in the small library statistics and estimation and investigating of 108 small libraries in GyeongGi-Do Area. There are 7 categories and 37 items in the proposed statistics.

  • This study aims to explore variables using machine learning and provide analysis techniques suitable for predicting pharmacy sales whether government statistical indicators built to create an industrial ecosystem based on data, network, and artificial intelligence affect pharmacy sales. Therefore, this study explored predictive variables and performance through machine learning techniques such as Random Forest, XGBoost, LightGBM, and CatBoost using analysis data from January 2016 to December 2021 for 28 government statistical indicators and pharmacies in the retail sector. As a result of the analysis, economic sentiment index, economic accompanying index circulation change, and consumer sentiment index, which are economic indicators, were found to be important variables affecting pharmacy sales. As a result of examining the indicators MAE, MSE, and RMSE for regression performance, random forests showed the best performance than XGBoost, LightGBM, and CatBoost. Therefore, this study presented variables and optimal machine learning techniques that affect pharmacy sales based on machine learning results, and proposed several implications and follow-up studies.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the statistical indicators of OECD and Korea for student health among Korea's approval statistics. Methods: Searching for health indicators by using Health at a Glance 2009, Society at a Glance 2009, and Education at a Glance 2009 through the formal OECD web site in 2010, and investigating the approval statistics through the Korean formal organizational web sites and published data in 2012. Results: Among OECD indicators, indicators for adolescent health were smoking and alcohol consumption, nutrition, physical activity, overweight and obesity, bullying, risk behaviors, and poverty children. However, most of Korea student health indicators were missing except poverty children and life satisfaction, because OECD has taken chiefly data from Health Behavior in School-aged Children survey (HBSC), international study, which has not been carried out in Korea. The Ministry Of Education, Science And Technology (MEST) and the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and National Youth Policy Institute in Korea have produced the major statistics for student health which was only 11 (1.3%) among 858 approval statistics. Conclusion: Identifying a current Korea school health is essential through participating actively to OECD whose statistic indicators are internationally comparable with Students Physical Development Survey, MEST's approval statistics, using Korea Student Health Examination. It was also suggested that quantitative and qualitative expansions for Korea student health statistics by the activation of approval statistics including processed statistics, and by researchers' easy expanded access to a raw data.

  • There is a close relationship between indicators of statistics and performance measurement in international standards, working sections and the data items similarity in academic libraries. However, this co-relationship between statistics and measuring performance in the Korean academic library is not related to each other in terms of designing or usage. In order to prove this, the co-relationship between indicators of statistics and performance measurement has been researched based on applications of international standards and data. The international result shows 45% of overlapping in statistical and measuring performance indicators. However, there is only 14 to 26% of the co-relationship in existing statistics and performance measurement in Korea. A considerable improvement of the co-relationship between the indicators has newly been found. Therefore, in developing online system of academic library statistics, it is essential to provideinclusive information between indications of statistics and performance measurements.

  • University ranking models, though they consider multiple indicators to evaluate universities, determine the overall score of each university based on their own normalization and aggregation methods. Thus, the rankings provided by such models primarily depend on actual scores of evaluation indicators, but they are also significantly affected by the normalization and aggregation methods. We examine the normalization methods of four university ranking models used in South Korea, China, and United Kingdom. We discuss a possible unintended consequence of these methods, i.e., some universities who want to improve their rankings may focus on unnecessary indicators, contrary to the evaluator's intension, due to the normalization methods. We suggest a new normalization method based on the statistical characteristics of the distribution of each evaluation indicator so that the new method can motivate the universities to move into the desirable directions intended by the evaluator.
