A Study on the Improvement in Statistical Indicators of Libraries for the Disabled

장애인도서관 통계지표 개선에 관한 연구

Abstract

This study was conducted to propose a new "Statistical Indicators of Libraries for the Disabled (SILD)" to collect objective and reliable data from such libraries. The previous researches and related literature were reviewed to compare current national statistical indicators. The draft of a new SILD, which was based on the current SILD, was made by deriving from countable factors at the library. These were selected from various parts of the library sectors, such as the library-related laws, library standards, evaluation indices of library service for the disabled, and statistical indicators of libraries for the disabled from IFLA, ISO, and other major countries. The draft was compared to the current SILD. The draft was then reviewed by five librarians and on-site experts working at the library for the disabled to see if they have any comments on each item of the draft. The new SILD is composed of 26 items in seven categories, and it can be used in understanding the present situation of libraries for the disabled.

이 연구는 장애인도서관 관련 실태를 정확히 파악하고, 객관적이고 신뢰할 수 있는 데이터의 수집을 위하여 장애인도서관의 현장 상황을 반영한 '장애인도서관 통계지표'를 제안하였다. 이를 위해 선행연구 및 관련 문헌을 조사 분석하고, 현행 장애인도서관 통계지표를 관련 법률, 도서관기준, 장애인도서관서비스 평가지표, 국제도서관통계지표, 그리고 해외 주요국가 장애인도서관 통계지표와 비교 분석하여 장애인도서관 통계지표(안)을 작성하였다. 작성된 장애인도서관 통계지표(안)의 검증을 위해 장애인도서관 현장 전문가의 의견을 수렴하여 최종적으로 총 7개 영역 26개 항목으로 구성된 '장애인도서관 통계지표'가 설정하였다. 새롭게 제안된 '장애인도서관 통계지표'는 장애인도서관의 현황을 파악할 수 있는 기초 자료의 작성에 활용 가능할 것으로 사료된다.
