ARM Core(R)를 이용한 AMR-WB+ 오디오 부호화기의 실시간 구현 (Real-time Implementation of the AMR-WB+ Audio Coder using ARM Core(R))

  • 본 논문에서는 AMR Core(R)를 이용해서 AMR-WB+ 오디오 부호화기를 실시간 구현하였다. 구현 시 사용된 최적화 방법은 어셈블리어 단계에서 수행되었고, latency를 제거하고 32비트 레지스터를 사용하였다. 구현된 음성 부호화기는 평균 복잡도가 ARM9E 버전에서 인코더 160.76MHz, 디코더 33.05MHz으로 총 193.81MHz로 측정되었다. 사용된 ROM의 크기는 인코더 65.21Kbyte, 디코더 32.01Kbyte, 공통소스 279.81Kbyte이다. 구현된 AMR-WB+ 소스 코드는 3GPP에서 제공하는 테스트 벡터들을 CodeWarrior와 목표 PDA 상에서 모두 bit-exact하게 통과함을 보임으로써 검증되었다.

Clinical Results of Distal Femoral Osteotomy for Treatment of Grade 4 Medial Patella Luxation with Concurrent Distal Femoral Varus in Small Breeds Dogs: 13 Cases

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the outcome of distal femoral osteotomy for distal femoral varus and medial patellar luxation (MPL) grade 4 in small-breed dogs. Radiographs and medical records were reviewed to collect data and plan the surgery in small-breed dogs with MPL grade 4. Computed tomography (CT) imaging was also performed in cases of severe bone deformities. Signalment, weight, medial patellar luxation and lameness grade, radiographic bone union, complications, pre- and postoperative femoral varus angle, passive range of motion, static weight bearing distribution and visual analogue scale scores were recorded. Thirteen corrective distal femoral osteotomies were performed with ancillary and additional procedures in 9 dogs; 4 dogs had staged bilateral procedures; and four stifles were suspected to have partial or complete rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament. One stifle underwent patellar groove replacement. The mean ± SD pre- and postoperative femoral varus angles were 109.15°± 3.71° and 96.30°± 2.97°, respectively. Significant improvements in passive range of motion, thigh circumference and visual analogue scale (VAS) scores were observed. There was no reluxation of the patella. This study suggests that distal femoral osteotomy with traditional and additional procedures provided satisfactory outcomes in patient healing and functional recovery in small-breed dogs with excessive femoral varus angles.

  • 타이포그래피는 언어와 조형의 결합이다. 언어의 이해와 조형적 가치를 통한 인간 커뮤니케이션의 핵심적인 수단인 것이다. 가장 기본적인 역할인 정보의 전달과 공유에서 장애요소로 나타나는 '언어의 반작용' 현상을 극복하고자 여러 가지 기법을 도입한 연구가 시작되었고, 보다 가독성 있고 의미전달력에 있어서도 효과적인 움직이는 활자를 개발하여 보편화되기에 이르렀다. 그러나 그것은 컴퓨터 모니터나 영상화면, 그리고 휴대전화 액정 등의 영상 디지털 미디어에서는 실현이 용이하나, 전통적 정보전달 매체인 인쇄지면이나 주변 환경에서 흔히 접할 수 있는 빌보드, 사인보드 등에서는 사실상 표현이 어렵다. 이를 위한 하나의 해결 방법으로 메시지 전달력이나 가독성에서 기존의 정적인 타이포그래피보다 훨씬 강력한 소구력을 가지는 동적타이포그래피에서 표현의 핵심요소인 시 공간적 표현효과에 대응하는 시각적 의미전달 체계를 색채의 본질과 특성에서 접근하여 동적표현에 근접한 커뮤니케이션 효과를 창출하고자 한다.

정적서기 상태에서 지지면 회전 인지능력의 방향별 차이 (Direction Dependence of the Perception of the Support Rotation While Quiet Standing)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of direction (pitch and roll) on the perception of support surface rotation while standing. Thirty young healthy subjects participated in this study. Support surface was rotated at an unexpected instant in a very slow speed (0.2 deg/s). The direction of support surface rotation was randomly chosen among pitch (forward and backward) and roll (right and left) directions. The experiment was performed with eyes open and closed. Perception performance was evaluated by the perception threshold, defined as the rotation angle of the surface at the instant when a subject recognized that the support surface was moving. Results showed that the perception threshold was smaller for roll directions than pitch directions irrespective of vision and gender (p < 0.01). This indicates that the perception of support surface rotation is more sensitive in roll direction than in pitch direction. Among three sensory functions related to postural perception, the effect of vestibular and visual functions on the direction difference of the perception should be little because of the very slow surface rotation and independence on visual conditions. Therefore, the direction dependence of perception would have been affected mainly by the somatosensory function.

동적 시뮬레이션에 의한 도시가로경관 관리지표의 허용범위 연구 - 건축물 형태 및 배치를 중심으로 - (A Study on a Permissible Range of the Indicators to Manage Streetscapes by Dynamic Simulation - Focusing on Shape and Layout of Buildings -)

  • As urban residents' standard of living has recently risen, efforts to improve urban landscapes have increased. It is very important to manage streetscapes to improve the urban landscape because they are one of the essential elements in city construction and urban landscaping. This study focuses on the indicators that manage streetscapes more accurately and realistically. To achieve this purpose, this study used dynamic simulations considering shape and layout of buildings, the primary factors in streetscapes. This study can be summarized as follows: 1. Two indicators to manage streetscape were investigated in previous studies: one to increase visual openness and the other to reduce visual overstimulation. These indicators had high correlation with scenic beauty. Therefore, increasing openness and reducing overstimulation are essential to improve streetscapes. 2. Two household tower type buildings should be arranged along roadsides to increase openness and scenic beauty. However, low tower buildings with two household are not suitable along roadsides because they create monotony and intervals are needed between buildings. 3. To increase openness, the angled arrangement of buildings is suggested $75^{\circ}{\sim}90^{\circ}(105^{\circ}{\sim}135^{\circ})$ for low buildings, $30^{\circ}{\sim}45^{\circ}(135^{\circ}{\sim}150^{\circ})$ for mid-sized buildings, and $75^{\circ}{\sim}90^{\circ}(105^{\circ}{\sim}135^{\circ})$ for high buildings. 4. To reduce overstimulation, the height and setback control regulations should be at an angle of less than $45^{\circ}$. This study suggests more accurate management guidelines by organizing the indicators that could effectively manage streetscapes and by overcoming limitations of reality shown in a static simulation.

장갑의 적합성 향상을 위한 손부의 2차원 및 3차원 계측정보 DB구축에 관한 연구 -손의 유형분석 및 3차원 입체형상 분석을 중심으로- (The Database Development of 2-D and 3-D Hands Measurement for Improving Fitness of Gloves - Focused on the Classification of Hand Type and Analysis of 3-D Hand Shape -)

  • The aim of this study was to provide the 2 and 3 dimensional statistics requisite in the sizing system and design of gloves. The 64 2-dimensional static measurements were selected to provide information about hands. Participants in the study were 824 adults, aged between 18 and 64. To summarize the information from the measurement values, a Factor Analysis and a Cluster Analysis among multivariate analyses were performed. 3-D scanner was used for visual results of hand shape of each cluster. The results were as follows. Twenty-two items were used for the factor and cluster analysis in order to classify the adult hand shape. The variable quantities that are explained by a total of 3 factors amounted to under 79.37% of the variable quantities. The definition results of the factors related to the hands are as follows: Factor 1 is the horizontal dimension, the thickness of hand factor; Factor 2 is the height of the crotch; and Factor 3 is the vertical dimension of the hand. The adults' group hand was divided into 2 clusters according to a cluster analysis using factor scores. The characteristics according to hand type were as follows: Cluster 1 referred to high horizontal dimensions and thickness, rather small vertical dimensions and crotch height; and Cluster 2 represented the rather smaller horizontal dimensions and thickness but longer hand length than Type 1. To provide specific shape data of each cluster, 3-D scanner measurement was performed. 3-dimensional data base was developed for each cluster type and visual information was provided.

내러티브 구조 관점에서 본 게임 캐릭터의 퀘스트 플레이에 대한 인터랙션 사전 시각화 (Pre-visualization of Interaction on Game Character's Quest Play : Towards of Narrative Structure)

  • 게임기획자는 내러티브를 기반으로 퀘스트의 초기 설계를 한다. 이러한 게임의 정적 컨텐트 수립에 있어 게임캐릭터의 플레이경험을 사전 예측하는 것은 중요하다. 본 논문은 게임캐릭터가 고유한 스테이터스를 바탕으로 퀘스트 플레이를 수행함에 있어 캐릭터간 구별되는 정서적 인터랙션을 시각화 할 수 있는 방법에 대해 다루고 있다. 이를 위해 첫째, 기존 영상매체에서 내러티브 구조의 시각화에 대한 연구를 바탕으로 둘째, 퀘스트플레이 경험과 플레이어 인지행동을 구체화하였다. 셋째, 사례분석을 통해 캐릭터별 퀘스트플레이 과정에서의 차이를 QUG(Quest Unit Graph)로 시각화하여 직관적인 확인이 가능하도록 하였다. 기존 연구가 캐릭터별 성취(achievement)관점에서의 수치적 밸런스 대한 것에 반해, 본 논문은 내러티브 구조 관점에서 퀘스트플레이 인터랙션에 대한 시각화 모델을 제안함으로써 기획자의 퀘스트 경험설계를 사전 예측해 볼 수 있다.

  • 공학적인 관점에서 Interactive Art와 디자인은 하나의 지능형 시스템으로 해석할 수 있다. 인간과 제작물 간의 원활한 소통, 즉 인터랙티브 반응을 주고받기 위해 센서, 카메라 등으로 입력 받은 후 이 정보들을 실시간으로 처리, 분석하여 그 결과를 영상, 그래픽, 음향 등의 다양한 매체로 표현하기 때문이다. 이러한 인터랙티브를 활용한 영상은 다양한 예술 디자인 분야에서 그 영역을 넓혀가며 점차 발전되고 있다. 예술 형태의 Interactive Art에 환경에 대한 정보성을 융합하여 시민들에서 자연스럽게 정보를 접할 수 있도록 하며 주변환경을 느낄 수 있는 시스템으로 연구하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 Interactive Art가 공간자체에 활기찬 분위기를 조성하며 직접 체험할 수 있는 공공예술로 활용된다. 기존의 정지된 설치의 개념에서 보다 발달된 동적인 형태로 인간과 자연스럽게 조화되어 정보를 습득하게 되는 참여 형태의 경험을 제공할 수 있다. 따라서 공공디자인의 활용에 Interactive Art에 대한 연구의 필요성이 절실하다.

  • The Haptic Exploration Laboratory at The Johns Hopkins University is currently exploring many problems related to haptics (force and tactile information) in human-machine systems. We divide our work into two main areas: virtual environments and robot-assisted manipulation systems. Our interest in virtual environments focuses on reality-based modeling, in which measurements of the static and dynamic properties of actual objects are taken in order to produce realistic virtual environments. Thus, we must develop methods for acquiring data from real objects and populating pre-defined models. We also seek to create systems that can provide active manipulation assistance to the operator through haptic, visual, and audio cues. These systems may be teleoperated systems, which allow human users to operate in environments that would normally be inaccessible due to hazards, distance, or scale. Alternatively, cooperative manipulation systems allow a user and a robot to share a tool, allowing the user to guide or override the robot directly if necessary. Haptics in human-machine systems can have many applications, such as undersea and space operations, training for pilots and surgeons, and manufacturing. We focus much of our work on medical applications.

도시기상 관측을 위한 메타데이터의 표준화 (Standardization of Metadata for Urban Meteorological Observations)

  • The metadata for urban meteorological observation is standardized through comparison with those established at the World Meteorological Organization and the Korea Meteorological Administration to understand the surrounding environment around the sites exactly and maintain the networks and sites efficiently. It categorizes into metadata for an observational network and observational sites. The latter is again divided into the metadata for station general information, local scale information, micro scale information, and visual information in order to explain urban environment in detail. The metadata also contains the static information such as urban structure, surface cover, metabolism, communication, building density, roof type, moisture/heat sources, and traffic as well as the update information on the environment change, maintenance, replacement, and/or calibration of sensors. The standardized metadata for urban meteorological observation is applied to the Weather Information Service Engine (WISE) integrated meteorological sensor network and sites installed at Incheon area. It will be very useful for site manager as well as researchers in fields of urban meteorology, radiation, surface energy balance, anthropogenic heat, turbulence, heat storage, and boundary layer processes.
