  • One of the most important factors on the performance of the distributed systems is the effective distribution of the software components, There have been a lot of researches on partitioning and allocating the task-based system, while the studies on the allocating the objects of the object-oriented system into the distributed object environments are very little relatively. In this paper. we defines the graph model for partitioning the existing C++ application and allocating the C++ objects into CORBA-base distributed system, In addition, we propose a distributed object allocation algorithm based on this graph model. The performance of distributed systems is determined by the concurrency between objects, the load balance among the processors and the communication cost on the networks. To search for the solutions optimizing the above three factors simultaneously, the object allocation algorithm of this paper is based on the Niched Pareto Genetic Algorithm (NPGA). We performed the experiment on the typical C++ application and CORBA system to prove the effectiveness of our graph model and our object allocation algorithm.

  • The video surveillance system is adopted in many places due to its efficiency and constancy in monitoring a specific area over a long period of time. However, many surveillance systems composed of a single static camera often produce unsatisfactory results due to their lack of field of view. In this paper, we present a video surveillance system based on wide baseline stereo cameras to overcome the limitation. We adopt the codebook algorithm and mathematical morphology to robustly model the foreground pixels of the moving object in the scene and calculate the trajectory of the moving object via 3D reconstruction. The experimental results show that the proposed system detects a moving object and generates a top view trajectory successfully to track the location of the object in the world coordinates.

  • In this paper we proposed an object tracking system that detects the abandoned and removed objects, which is to be used in the intelligent surveillance applications. After the GMM based background subtraction and by using histogram method, the static region is identified to detect abandoned and removed objects. Since the system is implemented on DSP chip, it operates in realtime and is programmable. The input videos used in the experiment contain various indoor and outdoor scenes, and they are categorized into three different complexities; low, midium and high. By 10 times of experiment, we obtained high detection ratio at low and medium complexity sequences. On the high complexity video, successful detection ratio was relatively low because the scene contains crowdedness and repeated occlusion. In the future work, these complicated situation should be solved.

  • In this paper, we propose an object tracking system which can be convinced of moving area shaped on objects through color sequential images, decided moving directions of foot messengers or vehicles of image sequences. In static camera, we suggests a new evaluating method extracting co-occurrence matrix with feature vectors of RGB after analyzing and blocking difference images, which is accessed to field of camera view for motion. They are energy, entropy, contrast, maximum probability, inverse difference moment, and correlation of RGB color vectors. we describe how to analyze and compute corresponding relations of objects between adjacent frames. In the clustering, we apply an algorithm of FCM(fuzzy c means) to analyze matching and clustering problems of adjacent frames of the featured vectors, energy and entropy, gotten from previous phase. In the matching phase, we also propose a method to know correspondence relation that can track motion each objects by clustering with similar area, compute object centers and cluster around them in case of same objects based on membership function of motion area of adjacent frames.

  • In the general multiple video object coder, more interested objects such as speaker or moving object is consistently coded with higher priority. Since the priority of each object may not be fixed in the whole sequence and be variable on frame basis, it must be adjusted in a frame. In this paper, we analyze the independent rate control algorithm and global algorithm that the QP value is controled by the static parameters, object importance or priority, target PSNR, weighted distortion. The priority among static parameters is analyzed and adjusted into dynamic parameters according to the visual interests or importance obtained by camera interface. Target PSNR and weighted distortion are proportionally derived by using magnitude, motion, and distortion. We apply those parameters for the weighted distortion control and the priority-based control resulting in the efficient bit-rate distribution. As results of this paper, we achieved that fewer bits are allocated for video objects which has less importance and more bits for those which has higher visual importance. The duration of stability in the visual quality is reduced to less than 15 frames of the coded sequence. In the aspect of PSNR, the proposed scheme shows higher quality of more than 2d13 against the conventional schemes. Thus the coding scheme interfaced to human- eye proves an efficient video coder dealing with the multiple number of video objects.

  • Designing a multilevel database application is a complex process, and the entities and their associated security levels must be represented using an appropriate model unambiguously. It is also important to capture the semantics of a multilevel databse application as accurate and complete as possible. Owing to the focus of the IDEA Methodology for designing the non-secure database applications on the data-intensive systems, the Object Model describes the static structure of the objects in an application and their relationships. That is, the Object Model in the IDEA Methodology is an extended Entity-Relationship model giving a static description of objects. The IDEA Methodology has not been developed the multilevel secure database applications, but by using an existing methodology we could take advantage of the various techniques that have already been developed for that methodology. That is, this way is easier to design the multilevel secure schema than to develop a new model from scratch. This paper adds the security features 새? Object Model in the IDEA Methodology, and presents the transformation from this model to a multilevel secure object oriented schema. This schema will be the preliminary work which can be the general scheme for the automatic mapping to the various commercial multilevel secure database management system such as Informix-Online/Secure, Trusted ORACLE, and Sybase Secure SQL Server.

  • Moving objects in a mobile environment to change their position based on the change of time require a query with their position as a basis. Efficient Regional Decision for Continuous Skyline Queries requires objectively pre-calculating the OSR(Optimal Skyline Region) regardless of the speed and direction of the moving objects. It proposes techniques to reduce the frequency of continuous queries by choosing a VCircle(Validity Circle) as safe location which has radius of the distance to the closest region with position on the moving object at center. But, a VCircle's area varies based on the Moving object's position from first marked time of continuous query. Therefore, the frequency of its continuous query is variable and also when the object moves inside of OSR, query can re-occur frequently In this paper, we suggest a technique of selecting an IVCircle(Interior Validity Circle) in a Skyline Region as the static Safe Region using the characteristics of the OSR. An Interior IVCircle can be calculated in advance when the OSR is decided. Our experiment shows that the frequency of using IVcircle as safe region reduced than that of using VCircle as safe region by 52.55%.

  • Among anti-seismic technologies, base isolation is a very effective means of mitigating damage to structural and nonstructural components, such as equipment. However, most seismic isolation systems are designed for mitigating only horizontal seismic responses because the realization of a vertical isolation system (VIS) is difficult. The difficulty is primarily due to conflicting isolation stiffness demands in the static and dynamic states for a VIS, which requires sufficient rigidity to support the self-weight of the isolated object in the static state, but sufficient flexibility to lengthen the isolation period and uncouple the ground motion in the dynamic state. To overcome this problem, a semi-active VIS, called the piezoelectric inertia-type vertical isolation system (PIVIS), is proposed in this study. PIVIS is composed of a piezoelectric friction damper (PFD) and a leverage mechanism with a counterweight. The counterweight provides an uplifting force in the static state and an extra inertial force in the dynamic state; therefore, the effective vertical stiffness of PIVIS is higher in the static state and lower in the dynamic state. The PFD provides a controllable friction force for PIVIS to further prevent its excessive displacement. For experimental verification, a shaking table test was conducted on a prototype PIVIS controlled by a simple controller. The experimental results well agree with the theoretical results. To further investigate the isolation performance of PIVIS, the seismic responses of PIVIS were simulated numerically by considering 14 vertical ground motions with different characteristics. The responses of PIVIS were compared with those of a traditional VIS and a passive system (PIVIS without control). The numerical results demonstrate that compared with the traditional and passive systems, PIVIS can effectively suppress isolation displacement in all kinds of earthquake with various peak ground accelerations and frequency content while maintaining its isolation efficiency. The proposed system is particularly effective for near-fault earthquakes with long-period components, for which it prevents resonant-like motion.
