A discrete controller is designed for low power dc-dc switched mode power supplies. The approach is based on time domain and the control loop continuously and concurrently tunes the compensator parameters to meet the converter specifications. A digital state feedback control combined with the load estimator provides a complete compensation, which further improves the dynamic performance of the closed loop system. Simulation of digitally controlled Buck converter is performed with MATLAB/Simulink. Experimental results are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the controller using LabVIEW with a data acquisition card (model DAQ Pad - 6009).
In this paper we investigate the application to the motion control of n-link robotic manipulators of recently developed stable factorization approach to tracking and disturbance rejection. Given control scheme consists of an approximate "Computed Torque" based upon a simplified model together with additional state feedback and feedforward compensation, and then, nonlinear control gain has more useful than constant control gain to guarantee robustness to parameter uncertainty and external disturbance. At this stage, we design high gain nonlinear state feedback controller and simulate this controller at the SCARA type robot manipulator of two joint.
An equilibrium point of a WIP (Wheeled Inverted Pendulum) with changing its center of gravity is derived and validated by various numerical simulations. Generally, the WIP has two equilibrium points which are unstable and stable one. The unstable one is interested in this study. To keep the WIP over the unstable equilibrium point, the WIP is consistently being adjusted. A state feedback controller for the WIP needs a control reference for the equilibrium point. The control reference can be obtained by studying an equilibrium point of the WIP based on statics. By using Lagrange method, this study is deriving dynamic equations of the WIP both with and without changing its center of gravity. Various numerical simulations are carried out to show the validation of the equilibrium point.
This paper presents a multirate state feedback control (MRSFC) method for systems sensitive to disturbance and noise based on the multirate estimator design using the current estimator. MRSFC updates the controller output slower than the measurement sampling frequency of system output by a lifting factor R=T$\sub$c//T$\sub$s/. The closed-loop MRSFC system is less sensitive to disturbance and noise due to filtering effect than the conventional single-rate control system. The multirate estimator gain is obtained from solving a conventional pole placement problem such that MRSFC has the same spectrum of eigenvalues in the s-plane as the single-rate control. We applied the proposed multirate state feedback controller to a galvanometer servo system. Simulation and experimental results show that settling and tracking performances are improved compared with a conventional single-rate pole placement control (PPC).
In the industrial motor drive system which is composed of a motor and load connected with a flexible shaft, a torsional vibration is often generated because of the elastic elements in torque transmission. To solve this problem, the two degrees of freedom $H_{\infty}$ controller was designed. But it is difficult to realize that controller. In this paper, $H_{\infty}$ control of 2-mass system using partial state feedback and resonance ratio control is proposed. Proposed controller has simple structure but satisfies the attenuation of disturbances and vibrations.
Fuzzy System which are based on membership functions and rules can control nonlinear uncertain complex systems well. However Fuzzy logic controller(FLC) has problems; It is difficult to design the stable FLC and FLC depends mainly on individual experience. Although FLC can be designed using the error back-propagation algorithm it takes long time to converge into global optimal parameters. Well-developed linear system theory should not be replaced by FLC but instead it should be suitably used with FLC. A new methodology is introduced for designing THEN-PART membership functions of FLC based on its well-tuned state feedback controller. A example of inverted pendulum is given for demonstration of the robustness of proposed methodology.
Loading/Unloading task in the real industry is performed by crane, but most of the loading/unloading task with the weight of 5kg∼30kg is done by human workers and this kind of work causes industrial disaster of workers. Therefore it is necessary to develop low cost loading/unloading manipulator system to prevent this kind of industrial accidents. This paper is concerned with the design and fabrication of 2 axis pneumatic manipulators using on/off solenoid valves and accurate position control without respect to the external load and low damping in the pneumatic rotary actuator. To overcome the change of external load, switching of control parameter using LVQNN (Learning Vector Quantization Neural Network) is newly applied, which estimates the external loads in the pneumatic cylinder. As an underlying controller, a state feedback controller using position, velocity and acceleration is applied to the switching control system. The effectiveness of the proposed control algorithms are demonstrated through experiments of pneumatic cylinder with various loads.
The sliding-mode control technique could make a system unstable which external disturbance and uncertainty exists in. This paper suggests a robust sliding-mode control algorithm which can be applied to a linear system with parameter uncertainties. To reduce the chattering effect, the whole system is comprised of using a state variable in which the state's estimated value is added. The condition of estimated state results from state observer. The proposed control algorithm uses the optimal feedback controller following the dynamic system equation which consists of a state variable resulting from its own state variable, controller input, estimated state variable. Through comparison with the time optimal control algorithm using simulation, the suggested algorithm shows the improved stability and robustness while it manifests the fast tracking characteristics.
In the industrial motor drive system, a shaft torsional vibration is often generated when a motor and a load are connected with a flexible shaft. This paper treats the vibration suppression control of such a system. Recently, there are new methods which estimate unknown state variables by using a reduced order observer and feedback these state variables by using a pole placement design method. But there is a trade-off between the fast command following property and the attenuation of disturbances and vibrations in these design methods. In this paper, the vibration suppression control of a two-mass system using a reference model is proposed. Because of using a reference model, the proposed control satisfy the fast command following property and the attenuation of disturbances and vibrations. Control parameter can be changed to maintain high system performance in control using a reference model. Experimental results show the validity of the proposed state feedback control using a reference model, and this controller is compared with the state feedback controller.
