This study examines the effects of failure experience, re-startup's motivation, government support business and education for re-startup on the performance of re-startup firms after failure. In addition, we analyzed how the above factors affect the performance of re-startup firms by the condition of debt and credit problems. As a result of the analysis, the failure experience had no significant effect on the re-startup performance regardless of the credit problem, while re-startup's motivation, government support business and education for re-startup had a significant effect on re-startup firms' performance. In the re-startup group with the credit problem, the re-startup's motivation and the failure experience had a significant influence on the re-startup firms' performance. On the other hand, in the group that did not solve the credit problem, the re-startup's motivation and the failure experience had no significant effect on the re-startup performance, but the government support business and education for re-startup had a significant effect on re-startup performance. The results of this study are as follows: First, it shows that the characteristics of re-startups and the determinants of re-startups are different according to credit problems. Second, this study shows that it takes 56 months on average from the close of business to the re-start, and it may take more than 7 years due to the credit problems and bankruptcy. This suggests the necessity to consider re-startup in the concept of obsolete in consideration of time, when studying the direct/indirect influence of failure experience and re-startup, and establishing policy.

This paper presents a wideband Colpitts voltage controlled oscillator(VCO) with nanosecond startup time and a center frequency of 8.35 GHz for a new bubble-type motion detector that has a bubble-layer detection zone at the specific distance from itself. The VCO circuit consists of two parts; one is a negative resistance part with a HEMT device and Colpitts feedback structure and the other is a resonator part with a varactor diode and shorted shunt microstrip line. The shorted shunt microstrip line and series capacitor are utilized to compensate for the input reactance of the packaged HEMT that changes from capacitive values to inductive values at 8.1 GHz due to parasitic package inductance. By tuning the feedback capacitors which determine negative resistance values, this paper also investigates startup time improvement with the negative resistance variation and tuning bandwidth improvement with the reactance slope variation of the negative resistance part. The VCO measurement shows the tuning bandwidth of 2.3 GHz(28 %), the output power of 4.1~7.5 dBm and the startup time of less than 2 nsec.

More people travel oversea as the economic size of Korea is getting larger and more new jobs are requested to be created by the society. To respond to these trend and request, Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) is about to expand its processing capability with a new terminal; 54 million passengers to 72 million. IIAC is also introducing new strategies such as open innovation (OI) and creating shared value (CSV). With these changes, IIAC faces new challenges of restructuring its business and organization with new ideas. Most organizations including IIAC are becoming more dependent on external resources to keep their competitive advantages under the turbulence of global business environmental changes. Therefore, they focus on the OI paradigm which is reported as a convincing strategy to improve competitiveness in terms of budget and time-to-market. OI is to quickly react to the rapidly changing business environment and is adopted to support startup incubation. In the previous research with IIAC, three major tasks were defined; utilizing the IIAC brand power for external vendors, building a technology road-map, and introducing a collaboration support system. This paper deals with the collaboration system as proposed in the previous research. We focused on the collaboration process for startup incubation. Cases were studied; the K-startup model by the government, a university model to explore youth startups, and a R&D institute model to study professional startups. Based on the case studies, we defined an IIAC model and proposed issues to take care of. The model is distinguished from the other studied models since IIAC is a prospective customer of new technology.
Here we demonstrate complex transient behavior of viscoelastic liquid described numerically with the Leonov model in straight and contraction channel flow domains. Finite element and implicit Euler time integration methods are employed for spatial discretization and time marching. In order to stabilize the computational procedure, the tensor-logarithmic formulation of the constitutive equation with SUPG and DEVSS algorithms is implemented. For completeness of numerical formulation, the so called traction boundaries are assigned for flow inlet and outlet boundaries. At the inlet, finite traction force in the flow direction with stress free condition is allocated whereas the traction free boundary is assigned at the outlet. The numerical result has illustrated severe forward-backward fluctuations of overall flow rate in inertial straight channel flow ultimately followed by steady state of forward flow. When the flow reversal occurs, the flow patterns exhibit quite complicated time variation of streamlines. In the inertialess flow, it takes much more time to reach the steady state in the contraction flow than in the straight pipe flow. Even in the inertialess case during startup contraction flow, quite distinctly altering flow patterns with the lapse of time have been observed such as appearing and vanishing of lip vortices, coexistence of multiple vortices at the contraction comer and their merging into one.
Startups are undergoing a change throughout the growth process of startups that appear in existing studies as they move away from the existing B2B or B2C frame and expand their target customer groups to O2O, C2C. In this regard, a new type of startup known as unicorns, a unicorn which has grown rapidly in a short period of time, is being created by successfully attracting government support and external investment in recognition of the potential value of the startup. This study examined the relationship between investment attraction and growth after founding for five representative unicorns in the U.S. and Korea. As a result, it was found that private investment in Korea is passive and defensive, and is attracted after the Series A stage, compared to the U.S., where the growth potential of the startup ecosystem is positively evaluated. In addition, it found that government's support policy throughout the startup's growth process is an abstract and comprehensive policy focusing on initial funding for startups. Therefore, it was suggested that the scope of government policies should be expanded to forster startups as unicorns, and that it is necessary to establish and implement differentiated support policies for each growth of the scale-up of startups. This study is significant in that it presented the criteria for the growth stage and support of startups as well as policy support for scale-up through practical case analysis of unicorns.

This study attempted to analyze the impact of individual entrepreneurial capabilities on entrepreneurial intention targeting small and medium-sized business employees, and sought to confirm the mediating effect of entrepreneurial efficacy and entrepreneurial mentoring between entrepreneurial capabilities and entrepreneurial intention. The sub-variables of entrepreneurship competency were analyzed separately into creativity, problem solving, communication, and marketing. 368 questionnaires collected from employees at small and medium-sized manufacturing companies located across the country were used for empirical analysis. A parallel dual mediation model with no causal relationship between parameters was used for empirical analysis using SPSS v26.0 and PROCESS macro v4.2. As a result of the analysis, first, among the start-up competencies, creativity, communication, and marketing were confirmed to have a significant positive (+) effect on start-up efficacy. Second, among the start-up competencies, creativity, communication, and marketing were tested to have a significant positive influence on start-up mentoring. Third, both startup efficacy and startup mentoring were found to have a significant positive influence on startup intention. Fourth, among start-up capabilities, creativity and marketing were confirmed to have a significant positive (+) effect on start-up intention. Fifth, startup efficacy and startup mentoring were found to have a mediating effect on startup intention except for problem solving among startup competencies. As a result, it was confirmed that in order to strengthen the intention to start a business among small and medium-sized business employees, start-up efficacy and start-up mentoring are important factors, and that marketing and creativity have an important influence among individual start-up capabilities, so education and prior preparation for these are necessary. As follow-up research, it will be necessary to apply multivariate models, analyze time series data, research considering external environmental factors, and test the difference between start-up capabilities and performance considering detailed population characteristics.

When a liquid rocket engine is started the oxidizer and fuel must be flowed into combustion chamber and gas generator with time differences. The wrong time difference between propellants or malfunction of ignition device can occur the explosion of combustion chamber due to detonation by energized premixed-propellants. Therefore it is important to observe the transient characteristic of propellants or to measure the inflow time of propellants into combustion chamber and gas generator. The measurement of static pressure is not enough to observe the propellants inflow time into combustion chamber and gas generator. By measuring dynamic pressure of main flow passage of propellants the accurate propellants inflow time could be investigated.

The importance of startups and ventures in the Korean economy is growing. This study measured whether the start-up and venture ecosystem is growing, including the growth of startups and ventures. The startup and venture ecosystem consists of startups and ventures, investors, and government, which are the main actors of the 'ecosystem', and their movements were measured with 25 quantitative indicators. Based on the original data of the time series from 2010 to 2020, the startup and venture ecosystem index was calculated by applying weights through the comprehensive stock index method and AHP. In 2020, the startup and venture ecosystem grew 2.9 times compared to 2010, and the increase in the government index had a significant impact on growth. Also, the individual indicators that make up each index in 2020, the corporate index had the greatest impact on the growth of the number of 100-billion ventures, while the investment index had a recovery amount and the government index had a significant impact. Based on the original data, the startup and venture ecosystem index was analyzed by dividing it into ecosystems (startup ecosystem and venture ecosystem), industry by industry (all industries and manufacturing industry), and region (Korea and Busan). As a result, the growth of the startup ecosystem over the past decade has been slightly larger than that of the venture ecosystem. The manufacturing was lower than that of all industries, and Busan was lower than that of the nation. This study was intended to use it for the establishment and implementation of support policies by developing, measuring, and monitoring the startup and venture ecosystem index. This index has the advantage of being able to research the interrelationships between major actors, and anyone can calculate the index using the results of official statistical surveys. In the future, it is necessary to continuously update this content to understand how economic and social events or policy support have affected the startup and venture ecosystem.

Most of the DC loads have had the sensitive characteristics electrically for input voltage. In this system, power converter is operated after connecting with DC loads to minimize the overshoot of the control voltage that may occur during connection of the loads. But whenever starting the power converter, parameters in circuit are different because power converter has been connected with diverse load types at each startup time. This is cause of a disadvantage to PI controller design of power converter. In this paper, the novel voltage control method using sliding mode control theory has proposed. This control method minimizes the overshoot of control voltage at startup of power converter. Despite the variations of the system parameters, the proposed voltage controller has fast response and robustness characteristics such as PI and sliding mode controllers. The proposed controller was applied to the three-phase AC/DC converter and each performance of controller was verified.
