An Empirical Study on the Quality Reliability of the Start-up performance of the Fixed Wing Aircraft at low temperature (고정익 항공기 저온 시동 성능의 품질 신뢰성 향상에 관한 실증적 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze low-temperature starting performance of the light attacker and to search and improve the aircraft system including battery and Battery Charge and Control Unit(BCCU). Methods: In order to improve the starting up performance of the light attacker at low-temp, various deficiency cause were derived and analyzed using Fault Tree Analysis method. As a result, it was confirmed there were drawbacks in the charging and discharging mechanism of the battery. The inactivation of the battery's electrolyte at low-temp and the premature termination of the battery charge were the main cause. After long error and trial, we improved these problems by improving performance of battery and optimizing the charging algorithm of BCCU. Results: It was confirmed that the problems of starting up failures were solved through the combined performance test of the battery and BCCU, the ground test using the aircraft system and the operation test conducted by Korea Airforce operating unit for 3 months in winter. Conclusion: This study showed that the improvement of quality reliability was achieved and thus the start-up performance issue of the light attacker has been resolved at low temperature. And it is expected that the design methodologies of temperature-affected electrical system of aircraft will contribute to the development of the aircraft industry in the future.

Design of PI-PD Controllers to Improve a Response Characteristic in Position Control System (위치제어계에서 응답특성 개선을 위한 PI-PD제어기의 설계)

  • In many control fields high position performance is essentially required in reducing the over-shoot phenomena which is produced by improving the quick response in starting and in minimizing the variation of the response characteristic on disturbance and load variation In this paper, the design method for a position control is suggested for constructing the PI-PD controllers by using an internal PD feedback loop in PI and PD control system. Applying this method to the position control system used a DC servo motor as a driver, the transfer PI and PD controllers are designed simultaneously and the coefficients of these controllers are determined by using the transfer function of a plant and a proportional coefficient from mathematical technique. From the result of computer simulation in PI-PD control system by applying this control technique, we can verify the usefulness of this method in rejecting of over-shoot of starting, compensating of response variation on the load variation, and shorting the settling time.

  • The real time unmanned monitoring system of an equipment's internal parts and condition requires the monitoring device to be able to stop at a set location on the rail. However, due to the slip between the driving surface and the roller, an error occurs between the actual position and the command position. In this paper, a method to compensate the position error due to the roller slip is proposed. A proximity sensor located at both ends of the rail detects the starting point and the maximum position pulse, linearly compensating the error between the angular position of the motor and the mechanically fixed starting and maximum position pulse of the rail in forward and reverse direction. Moreover, unlike the existing servo position controller, the motor adopts the position detection method of Hall sensor in BLDC (Brushless DC) and applies an algorithm for low-speed driving so that a stable position control is possible. The proposed rail guided unmanned monitoring system with driving slip compensator was tested to verify the effectiveness.

  • This paper describes the field test results of IGBT VVVF inverter for the railway propulsion system. The 1,650kVA IGBT VVVF inverter has been developed. Therefore, the field test is performed in SMG 6 Line to confirm its the reliability and performance. The train consists of 4M4T and the electrical equipment for field test are as follows : VVVF inverter 4 sets, 16 traction motors and 2 SIVs. The propulsion system is composed with 1C4M(1-Controller 4-Motors). The results of propulsion system which have the excellent acceleration/deceleration and the jerk characteristics as well as starting ability on slope are taken through the field test.

  • In Europe, London, Edinbergh, Copenhagen has adopted the traffic congestion charge system, and now the Stockholm City Council started the implementation of a similar system of its own. According to the Swedish National Road Administration, the system implementation starts in 2004 and will be completed by 2005, and so starting 2006, this charge system will be running as planned. Unlike the system of London, that of Stockholm charges the drivers differently depending on when to pass a control point, and not only that, the City Council has a plan to adopt the emerging RFID technology. Following is the summary of both technical and policy-wise considerations of the traffic congestion charge system in Stockholm, Sweden.

  • We studied about the adopted system to POSCO facility which is very complexity and various as an example for studying a facility diagnosis and management system that is starting to be distinguished in the nowadays.   • The wound induction motor can provide high starting torque and reduced starting current simultaneously by inserting large resistor externally when starting. And this technique is one of the well known methods among the induction motor starting methods and generally used for heavy load starting such as crane and cement factories. The conventional PI controller has been widely used in industrial application due to the simple control algorithm and is generally used for control of current torque, position, and speed for the wound induction motor drive system. However, the conventional control system for wound induction motor may result in poor performance because sensors have to be used but are often limited by the environmental condition. Recently, to overcome these problems, many sensorless vector control methods for the wound induction motor have been studied. This paper presents a MRAS method for sensorless vector control of the wound induction motor drive. In the conventional MRAS method, in low frequency, the stator resistance variation may result in poor performance. Therefore, this paper presents a MRAS method with stator and rotor resistance tuning for sensorless vector control of the wound induction motor to overcome several shortages of the conventional MRAS caused by parameter variation and to enhance the robustness of the sensorless vector control. The validity and effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through digital simulation.

  • Line starting using contactors is a conventional method for escalator system Recently, comsumer's requirements for energy saving and variable functions are increasing To satisfy this demands, LG Industrial Systems Co., Ltd. has developed an escalator which is driven by inverter system. In this paper, technical schemes of the developed escalator are introduced and the performance of the proposed system is proved by experiment.

  • This paper deals with a scheduling problem with the objective of maximizing the throughput rate in flexible manufacturing system with shop type. Manufacturing system is consisted of multi-stage in series. All kinds of parts are processed in same in processing time. No buffer space is allowed between stages, and no part waiting is allowed in each stage. Part flow control method for determining the optimal production sequence of all parts and the production starting time of each part is proposed.

  • Two main characteristics of VBR MPEG video traffic are different statistics according to different picture types and the periodic traffic pattern due to GOP structure. Especially, the I-pictures at the beginning of each GOP generate $$\mu$h more traffic than other pictures. When several VBR Mpeg video sources are superposed, the I-picture starting times of these sources may significantly affect the cell loss characteristics of ATM $$\mu$tiplexers. In this paper, we propse a performance model for ATM $$\mu$tiplexers with VBR MPEG video sources whose starting times are arbitrary given. For analysis, both single and superposed source traffic are modeled as NDPPs (non-deterministic periodic processes), and the ATM $$\mu$tiplexer is modeled as a U-state NDPPD/D/1/B queueing system. It is hown that the numerical results are very close to the si$$\mu$ation results. From the relationships between the starting tiem distributions and the corresponding $$\mu$tiplexer performances, some considerations for designing a scheduling policy in order to obtain the maxi$$\mu$ $$\mu$tiplexing gain are presented.
