  • As the workflow systems are becoming complex and obscure, there are discrepancies between actual workflow process and designed process. Therefore, we have developed techniques for discovering workflow models. The starting point for such techniques is a so-called 'workflow log' containing information about the workflow process as it is actually being executed. This paper presents an algorithm of workflow process mining based on heuristic approach from the workflow log, which can be happen to business process system.

  • In Europe, London, Edinbergh, Copenhagen has adopted the traffic congestion charge system, and now the Stockholm City Council started the implementation of a similar system of its own. According to the Swedish National Road Administration, the system implementation starts in 2004 and will be completed by 2005, and so starting 2006, this charge system will be running as planned. Unlike the system of London, that of Stockholm charges the drivers differently depending on when to pass a control point, and not only that, the City Council has a plan to adopt the emerging RFID technology. Following is the summary of both technical and policy-wise considerations of the traffic congestion charge system in Stockholm, Sweden.

A FILLED FUNCTION METHOD FOR BOX CONSTRAINED NONLINEAR INTEGER PROGRAMMING

  • A new filled function method is presented in this paper to solve box-constrained nonlinear integer programming problems. It is shown that for a given non-global local minimizer, a better local minimizer can be obtained by local search starting from an improved initial point which is obtained by locally solving a box-constrained integer programming problem. Several illustrative numerical examples are reported to show the efficiency of the present method.

  • MNIST dataset is a database containing images of handwritten digits, with each image labeled by an integer from 0 to 9. It is used to benchmark the performance of machine learning algorithms. Neural networks for MNIST are regarded as the starting point of the studying machine learning algorithms. However it is not easy to start the actual programming. In this expository article, we will give a step-by-step instruction to build neural networks for MNIST dataset using MATLAB.

  • Rated frequency of inverter driven induction motor for a traction system can be chosen lower or higher. Traction motor with higher rated frequency can be lighter than the lower. But the maximum torque must be checked, because it is very important for starting and acceleration and it should be reduced with high frequency operation. In the paper, two motors with different rated frequency are designed and compared.

  • This paper proposes assessment of quality management activities based on cost of quality. Cost of quality is considered prevention cost, appraisal cost, internal failure cost, external failure cost in this paper. This paper shows quality cost magement system in thermal power site devision according to activity analysis. Cost of quality in power industries provides a valuable method of both proving the need for improvement and giving a starting point for projects.

The Transverse Dynamic Stability of Hard-chine Planing Craft

  • A method to predict the dynamic roll stability of hard-chine planing craft is presented. Starting with the equation of motion, an equation governing small roll perturbations is developed. The roll restoring moment acting on the hull is evaluated by considering “static”and dynamic contributions. The contribution of rudders and skegs, which is significant for this type of craft, is also determined. A worked example is presented to show how the method can be used to find the maximum center of gravity height for transverse stability.

Nonrelativistic Solutions of Morse Potential from Relativistic Klein-Gordon Equation

  • Recently it is suggested that it may be possible to obtain the approximate or exact bound state solutions of nonrelativistic Schr$\ddot{o}$dinger equation from relativistic Klein-Gordon equation, which seems to be counter-intuitive. But the suggestion is further elaborated to propose a more detailed method for obtaining nonrelativistic solutions from relativistic solutions. We demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method with the Morse potential as an example. This work shows that exact relativistic solutions can be a good starting point for obtaining nonrelativistic solutions even though a rigorous algebraic method is not found yet.
