  • Purpose : This study investigated the effects of air stacking exercise on respiratory ability of patients with cervical cord injury. Methods : The subjects of this study were 30 patients with cervical cord injury were randomly placed in an experimental group(n=15) and a control group(n=15), respectively. Basic therapeutic exercise(ROM exercise, stretching exercise, strengthening exercise) were conducted twice a day for 30 minutes each time in all subjects and air stacking exercise was additionally conducted on the experimently group only. Air stacking exercise was conducted for 4 weeks, twice a day, 5 times a week and repeated 10 to 15 times each time. Lung capacity, MIC and, peak cough flow were measured and evaluated. Results : The results showed that FEV1, FVC, MIC, UPCF and APCF were significantly increased(p<.05), but FEV1/FVC didn't show the significant differences in an experimental group. In a control group, the findings showed that FEV1, FVC were increased significantly(p<.05) while FEV1/FVC, MIC, UPCF, and APCF didn't show the significant differences. There were significant differences in FEV1, FVC, MIC, and APCF between a experimental group and a control group in the results of Pulmonary Function Test after conducting the pulmonary rehabilitation. However, no significant differences were found in FEV1/FVC, and UPCF between a experimental and a control group(p>.05). Conclusion : air stacking exercise has positive effects on the improvements of cough functions and that of pulmonary functions such as lung volume, lung elasticity in patients with cervical cord injury.

  • The 3-dimensional (3D) chip stacking technology is a leading technology to realize a high density and high performance system in package (SiP). There are several kinds of methods for chip stacking, but the stacking and interconnection through Cu filled through-hole via is considered to be one of the most advanced stacking technologies. Therefore, we studied the optimum process of through-hole via formation and Cu filling process for Si wafer stacking. Through-hole via was formed with DRIE (Deep Reactive ion Etching) and Cu filling was realized with the electroplating method. The optimized conditions for the via formation were RE coil power of 200 W, etch/passivation cycle time of 6.5 : 6 s and SF6 : C4F8 gas flow rate of 260 : 100 sccm. The reverse pulsed current of 1.5 A/dm2 was the most favorable condition for the Cu electroplating in the via. The Cu filled Si wafer was chemically and mechanically polished (CMP) for the following flip chip bumping technology.

  • The aim of the current work is to characterise a piecewisely-integrated composite bumper beam based on the IIHS bumper crash protocol. IIHS bumper crash FE analysis for an aluminium type bumper beam was carried out to get the information about the dominant loading types at several regions in the bumper beam during crash. In the meantime, robust stacking sequences against tension and compression have been searched for using FE analysis of a coupon type model. After determining most effective stacking sequences for tension and compression, three-point bending simulation was preliminarily carried out to investigate the combination performance of them. Finally, IIHS bumper crash FE analysis for the piecewisely-integrated composite bumper beam, which consisted of the combination of tension effective stacking sequence and compression efficacious stacking sequence, was conducted and the result was compared with other types of composite bumper beams. It was found that the newly suggested piecewisely-integrated composite bumper beam showed superior crashworthy behaviour to those of uni-modal stacking sequence composite bumper beams.

  • Fracture behavior and martensite substructure of Ni-36.5at.%Al alloy were investigated with the addition of vanadium which is known as scavenging element of grain boundary. The fracture surfaces were examined by scanning electron microscopy and the EDX spectrometer was applied for composition analysis of fracture surfaces. The substructure of martensite was studied by transmission electron microscopy. By addition of vanadium, fracture surfaces show mixed modes of intergranular and transgranular fracture and more Al content is found on the grain boundaries. For Ni-36.5at.%Al alloy, the planar faults observed in the martensite plates are the internal twins. By increasing the vanadium content, the modulated structure with stacking faults and dislocations dominates while the twinned martensite disappears. The stacking fault is determined to be extrinsic due to the substitution of V for Al. It is concluded that the segregation of sulfur on the high-energy state stacking fault area suppresses the intergranular fracture.

  • This study investigates the bending stress, shear stress and deformation energy happening at the inner fiber structure when the bending moment is applied to he specimen with flat shape composed of carbon fiber. As CFRP is composed of innumerable fibers with multi-axes, the stress under bending condition can be effectively distributed. Theses stresses is shown to increase again at the starting point as this angle of $60^{\circ}$. Therefore, the condition at the stacking angle of $60^{\circ}$ is seen to become most adequate under the state where the bending stress happens. On the basis of this study result, the damage property by the bending at the plate due to stacking angle was examined through the analytic approach. it is thought that this study can be devoted to the safe design for damage prevention and durabilty improvement. Also, the esthetic sense can be shown as the designed factor of shape with flat plate is grafted onto the convergence technique.

  • The logistics industry is converging with digital technology and growing into various logistics automation systems. However, inspection and loading/unloading, which are mainly performed in logistics work, depend on human resources, and the workforce is shrinking due to the decline in the productive population due to the low birth rate and aging. Although much research is being conducted on the development of automated logistics systems to solve these problems, there is a lack of research and development on load stacking stability, which has the potential to cause significant accidents. In this study, loading boxes with various sizes and positions of the center of gravity were set up, and a method for stacking that with high stability is presented. The size of the loading box is measured using a depth camera. The loading box's weight and center of gravity are measured and estimated by a developed device with four loadcells. The measurement error is measured through various repeated experiments and is corrected using the least squares method. The robot arm performs load stacking by determining the target position so that the centers of gravity of the loading boxes with unbalanced masses with a random sequence are transported in alignment. All processes were automated, and the results were verified by experimentally confirming load stacking stability.

  • In container terminals, stacking yard is the place where import and export containers are temporarily stored before being loaded onto or after being discharged from a ship. Since all the containers go through the stacking yard in their logistic flow, the productivity of the terminal critically depends on efficient operation of stacking yard, which again depends on how well the stacking locations of the incoming containers are determined. However, a good location for stacking an incoming container later can turn out to be a bad one when that container is to be fetched out of the stacking yard, especially if some rehandling is required. This means that good locations for the containers are changing over time. Therefore, in most container terminals, the so-called remarshaling is done to move the containers from bad location to good locations. Although there are many previous works on remarshaling, they all assume that the remarshaling can be done separately from the main jobs when the cranes are idle for rather a long period of time. However, in reality, cranes are hardly available for a period long enough for remarshaling. This paper proposes a crane dispatching strategy that allows remarshaling jobs to be mixed together with the main jobs whenever an opportunity is detected. Experimental results by simulation reveals that the proposed method effectively contributes to the improvement of terminal productivity.
