Detection of Coliform and Escherichia coli in Spring Water by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR법을 이용한 옹달샘물의 대장균군 및 대장균 검출)

  • The polymerase chain reaction(PCR) of target lacZ and uidA genes were used to detect total coliform and Escherichia coli for determining water quality, respectively. Of 109 spring waters, coliform were detected from 38 spring waters by lacZ PCR method but 21 spring waters by culture method accepted by the Ministry of Environment for water quality monitoring. The lacz PCR method gave the results statistically equivalent to those of the culture method(kappa=0.62, McNemar=17.00). The uidA PCR method gave the same results to those of the culture method. The sensitivity and specificity of coliform and E. coli by PCR method were 100% and 80.7%, respectively. Therefore, PCR can be used for the rapid identification of Escherichia coli and coliform in potable water using uidA and lacZ.

  • This study was conducted to compare the hunting reaction of finger in the cold water. Finger skin temperature is measured the left middle finger tip immersion in cold water of 5℃ for 30 minutes and measurements were made on finger skin temperature(Ts), thermal comfort, and cold pain sensations during the experiment at the spring (March) and Winter(December). Results were follows. Is before immersion was at the highest in spring and at the lowest in winter and was closely related to the indoor temperature Ts during immersion and recovery. Mean of finger skin temperature(MST), the skin temperature at the first rise(TTR) and amplitude of finger skin temperature reaction during immersion(AT) were significant higher in spring than that in winter(P<.01). The lowest skin temperature(LST) during the cold water immersion were significantly higher in spring than that in winter (P<.05). The frequency of the appearance of cold-Induced vase dilation(CIVD) was higher in spring than that in winter. However, time for the first temperature(TTR) and recovery time(RT) had no seasonal variation. In addition, cold pains during immersion were felt more strongly in spring than in winter. Local thermal sensation, finger thermal sensation in dynamic state during hand immersion was different from that in the Winter. Spring was slowly cold in cold water immersion.

  • The Spring Festival is the most important traditional celebration in China, and it has the important value of condensing the national spirit and emotion, inheriting traditional culture and customs, and showing the development and changes of contemporary China. As a kind of TV performance art and cultural media carrier, The Spring Festival Gala of China Media Group (C.M.G) has been broadcast for 40 years and has exerted a great influence on the development of China's media industry. These days, China's TV performing arts and Chinese media that represented by The Spring Festival Gala, are not only the main front of domestic propaganda, but also shoulder the historical responsibility of building the image of a great country and exporting Chinese remarkable culture to the outside world. Therefore this study had summarizes The Spring Festival Gala change trend in the past 40 years focus on the theme of The Spring Celebration, the development of multimedia, and the interaction between society and culture in different periods of Chinese social background, and also analyzes the current problems of the Spring Festival by combining relevant data and specific cases. so as to make forward-looking suggestions for the and how the Chinese media industry can further develop towards globalization.

Yield and Storability of Spring Transplanted Onion Cultivars in the Middle Area of the Korean Peninsula (중부지방에서 플러그 육묘에 의한 춘파 양파 품종의 생육과 저장성)

  • Bulb onion cultivation area has been restricted in southern part of Korea to avoid blotting and bulb division. The traditional culture method is transplanting bare-rooted plantlet into the field at the end of summer and harvesting at the beginning of next summer. The hot weather and weak plantlets occasionally causes unstable supply of onions in autumn. In order to enlarge cultivation area and to reduce culture period, long nursery system using plug tray and spring transplanting was tried. Forty cultivars collected from Korea and Japan were nursed using 200-plug tray and transplanted to the field in spring. Marketable yield was not related to the seedling size but lodging time. Cultivar of 'Hamasodachi' was lodged early and resulted low marketable yield. Cultivar of 'Cheonjudaego' was not lodged and yielded high but not in accordance with storability. Generally early lodged cultivars showed low storability. In order to avoid rainy harvesting season, cultivars requires excessive long time for lodging is not recommended for spring culture. Using plug nursery and spring transplanting, we successfully produced marketable onions in 3 months. But immediate using of the harvested onion is recommended. The storability of produced onions showed different result among cultivars, storage of spring onion was not recommended.

A Study on Food Poisoning during the Joseon Dynasty using the Veritable Records of the Joseon Dynasty based data (조선왕조실록 분석을 통한 조선시대 식중독에 관한 연구)

  • This study analyzed food poisoning articles in the Joseonwangjosillok to acquire historical evidence. The study method used case studies from the textual content of the Joseonwangjosillok. In all, there were fifteen cases of food poisoning in spring (60%), four cases in summer (16%), five cases in fall (20%), and 1 case during winter (4%). Most cases of food poisoning occurred during spring, followed by fall, then summer, and the least during winter. Foods that caused poisoning were as follows: twelve cases of seafood (48%), three cases of vegetables (12%), two cases of meat (8%), and eight cases of poisonous food (32%). Maximum cases pertained to seafood poisoning, which also spiked during spring. This could be attributed to the increased number of planktons as the sea temperature rose during spring. Due to the increased plankton, shellfish absorbed more toxins. The consumption of increasingly toxic shellfish resulted in more cases of food poisoning. The food poisoning frequency was the most severe during the 18th century, followed sequentially by the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries, and was the least severe during the 19th century. Joseonwangjosillok showed that food poisoning cases happened most during social events where many guests or family members gathered to eat.

  • This study describes how Mishima Yukio applied various classical motifs in his novel, Spring Snow, to reproduce the world of "Miyabi" of the Heian era. First of all, the author's perception of Japanese culture, focusing on his various critiques and essays was studied. Based on Mishima's cultural theory, analysis revealed that Spring Snow was not based on specific works of the Heian era, but rather on the use of the story form from that era. The background of this novel was the early Taisho era. This period coincided with Japan's political transformation from military power to democracy, and miyabi, or elegance. Finally, the title of this work, "Spring Snow" is an expression found in Kinotsurayuki' Waka in Kokinshu. It represents not only the vanity possessed by the "Spring Snow" reflected in the novel, but also fascination with the beauty of Tsurayuki' Waka.

  • The Colony of Selaginella involvens (Sw.) Spring in Sanyang-myeon, Mungyeong-si, can be divided into five types, and in the past, it was said that Selaginella involvens (Sw.) Spring formed colonies throughout the colony and grew naturally, but now it remains only in some sections. It was found that the Selaginella involvens (Sw.) Spring colony was damaged by artificial and natural factors, and as an artificial factor, the Selaginella involvens (Sw.) Spring was proven to be effective for medicinal and cremation, and many people were damaging the Selaginella involvens (Sw.) Spring colony without permission. Naturally, vines thrive and Selaginella involvens (Sw.) Spring die, and the reality is that the entire colony of Selaginella involvens (Sw.) Spring is in danger of being damaged if maintenance is not performed. On the other hand, there are sections that reproduce with symbiosis with some herbaceous plants, so it is necessary to plan and implement conservation strategies. In order to preserve the Selaginella involvens (Sw.) Spring colony, CCTV is needed to prevent artificial damage, and on the contrary, install facilities such as fences can easily burn up and create worse scenery, so it can preserve the good environment, restore recoverable areas, and install supplementary buffer zones.

Population Dynamics and Injuries by Liriomyza trifolii(Burgess) in Chrysanthemum Field (국화에서 아메리카잎굴파리(Liriomyza trifolii)의 발생소장, 가해특성과 품종에 따른 피해)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the population changes of Liriomyza trijolii (Burgess) on chrysanthemum and its relationship to plant growth and damages. In spring culture of chrysanthemum, L. trifolii adults begun to be attracted by the yellow sticky trap from early May and maintained high population until the middle of July. Larval density increased gradually from late May and reached peak in early July. In autumn culture, the population density of adult was lower than that of spring culture but the number of adult was great in late September and the middle of October. This trend was similar to that of larval stage. Damaged leaves by larva could be found from 4 weeks after transplanting and its rate was low until 5 weeks but increased abruptly after 6 weeks and maintained 70% level until flowering stage in spring culture. Damaged leaves increased with plant growth in some varieties tested in this experiment.
