The Source Identification of Spilled Oil by Pristane/Phytane Ratio

  • 잠재오염원에서 누출된 유류의 기원을 확인하기 위해서 표준연료와 환경시료중의 유류 구성성분의 농도를 분석하였다. pristane/phytane의 비는 환경시료 중 같은 휘발성을 가지고 있기 때문에 실질적으로 변하지 않는다. 이것은 미생물분해와 풍화의 영향을 평가하고 유류의 오염원을 확인하는데 유용하였다. L과 S 주유소에서 백등유, 보일러등유, JP-8, 경유의 pristane/phytane 비를 측정하였다. L-백등유와 JP-8에서 pristane/phytane 비는 각각 3.10$\pm$0.03, 1.77$\pm$0.01였으며, 유류와 물을 분배시킨 후 물층에서 pristane/phytane 비는 백등유 2.97$\pm$0.02, JP-8 1.65$\pm$0.02였다. pristane/phytane 비는 백등유와 JP-8을 구분하는 유효하였으며, 또한 관측정에서 수집된 자유상유류와 지하수시료에서 유종을 확인하는데 유용하였다.

  • This study was carried out to check the contingency planning methods under the analysis of oil spill potential and make a guide line to apply the results to the port of Busan. The expected spilled oil drift patterns are considered with the most probable scenarios under the base of the oil spill potential. The results obtained from this study are as follows: (1) Analysis method of oil spill potent was proposed and the applicability was proved by the application example to the port of Busan to make the contingency plan. (2) Responsible oil spill contingency planning methods / flow are suggested considered environmental factors and the oil spill potential. (3) The coastal waters of Busan was consist of rocky flat, man-made solid shore and beach shore. Marine traffic have high density of oil tanker and cargo ship. Also, oil tanker ship are examined in the small ships to be less than 3000t to supply oil to the ship moored / anchored as well as the large amount of oil tank / basin are located along the coast of Busan port. These systems are introduced to make in put data to the analysis of oil spill potential. (4) According to the analysis of historical records of oil spill accident in Busan, the frequency of accidents by cargo ship rank highest and 45% of accidents is caused by carelessness. about 65% of total accidents shows a small spill accident of less than $10k{\ell}$.

허베이 스피리트호 유류유출사고 지역주민의 급성건강영향 (Acute Health Effects of the Hebei Oil Spill on the Residents of Taean, Korea)

  • Objectives: On December 7, 2007, the Hebei Spirit oil tanker spilled out 12,547 kl of crude oil on the Yellow Sea 10 km away from the cost of Taean Province, Korea. As the coastline has been contaminated, local residents have been exposed to crude oil. Because the residents were showing many symptoms, we investigated the acute health effects of this oil spill on them. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study consisting of the heavy and moderately oil soaked area in Taean and the lightly oil soaked area in Seocheon. Ten seashore villages were selected from each area, and 10 male and female adults were selected from each village. We interviewed the subjects using a structured questionnaire on the characteristics of residents, the cleanup activities, the perception of oil hazard, depression and anxiety, and the physical symptoms. The odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals were analyzed using logistic regression analysis. The logistic regression model was adjusted for age, gender, education, smoking, the perception of oil hazard and anxiousness. Results: The more highly contaminated the area, the more likely it was for residents to be engaged in cleanup activities and have a greater chance of exposure to oil. The indexes of anxiety and depression were higher in the heavy and moderately oil soaked areas. The increased risks of headache, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, tingling of limb, hot flushing, sore throat, cough, runny nose, shortness of breath, itchy skin, rash, and sore eyes were significant. Conclusions: The results suggest that exposure to crude oil is associated with various acute physical symptoms. Long-term investigation is required to monitor the residents' health.

  • 허베이스피리트호의 원유유출로부터 오염된 해안이 어떻게 변화되어 가는지를 조사하는 것을 목적으로 하여, 태안군 이원면 만대(가로림만)로부터 소원면 파도리 해변까지 11개 정점에서 현장조사를 실시한 결과, 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1년이 경과한 시점에서 관측한 결과 관측지점 10개 정점 모두에서 잔존유는 발견되지 않았으나, 구름포 해변의 경우 아직도 토양중에 잔존유가 존재하고 있는 것으로 파악되었다. 오염된 태안 해안의 조속한 복원은 100만이 넘는 자원봉사자와 지역주민의 방제노력이 이루어낸 성과라고 판단되며, 또한 파도의 반복적인 작용에 의해서 조간대에 표착한 표착유가 제거되었으리라 판단된다. 조간대에 표착해 있던 원유의 일부는 물리화학적 그리고 생물학적 풍화작용으로 분해되었고, 나머지 기름은 모래입자나 미세토립자(minerals)와 부착되어 기름과 미세토립자의 합체물(OMA)의 형태로 조간대나 조하대에 분산되었으리라 판단된다.

파랑 중 오일붐 성능 예측을 위한 2차원 입자법 시뮬레이션 (2-Dimensional Moving Particle Simulation for Prediction of Oil Boom Performance in Waves)

  • Oil booms are one of the most widely used types of equipment for the protection of coastal areas against oil spills. In some situations, however, there are several types of oil leaks from the oil boom. Important factors regarding these phenomena include the surrounding ocean environment, such as waves, the density and viscosity of oil, the length of the oil boom skirt, etc. To estimate the performance of the oil boom, it is necessary to predict the behavior of the spilled oil and oil boom. In the present study, the prediction of oil boom performance in waves was carried out using the Pusan-National-University-modified Moving Particle Semi-implicit (PNU-MPS) method, which is an improved version of the original MPS proposed by Koshizuka and Oka (1996). The governing equations, which consist of continuity and Navier-Stokes equations, are solved by Lagrangian moving particles, and all terms expressed by differential operators in the governing equations are replaced by the particle interaction models based on a kernel function. The simulation results were validated through a comparison with the results of Violeau et al. (2007)..

해양오염제거용 천연분말상 유흉착재의 흡착 특성에 관한 연구 (Adsorption Characteristics of Natural Powdered Oil Absorbent for Marine Oil Pollution)

  • The amount of petroleum consumption has been Increased according to the industrialization and It leads to the increase of the possibility of marine oil pollution. In Korea, some countermeasures including oil skimmer, gelling agent and herding agent of oil have been used for the remediation of the pollution. However, most of them have lets of shortcomings in the application under in-situ condition, because they are sensitive to the situation such as geographical feature, the wind and the tide. In reported literature, the natural powdered oil absorbent which is made of peat moss is an effective mean to clean spilled oil from lake or coast. However, the peat moss is a natural resource which is only Produced from a specific cold weather are like Canada. This indicates that the alternative materials which is readily obtained from everywhere are needed for powdered oil absorbent. Therefore. in the study, same natural materials including pine leaves and straw are tested as the alternative materials for the absorbent. The raw materials were dried and treated by heat at various temperature during several Periods and then. shattered by a grain cracking machine. The oil sorption capacity of the prepared materials was compared according to the methods of heat treatment and their sizes. The proportion of hydrogen cyanide to combustion of the absorbents was measured to confirm their final disposal methods. The biodegradability test of the absorbents was carried our to evaluate possibility of a side pollution in the coast. In was found that the heat treatment of pine leaves enhanced the capacity of oil sorption and decreased the water sorption. The maximum oil sorption was observed for the material treated at 18$0^{\circ}C$for 60 min. The amount of hydrogen cyanide from the combustion were 0.09ml/g, 0.07ml/g for pine leaves and straw respectively meaning that the final disposal by combustion might be feasible. The amount or organic carbon extracted from pine leaves during 7 days was up to 0.015g organic carbon from one gram of pine leaves. but the degradation was as fast as for glucose. It is concluded that the pine leaves can be served as a good raw material for the powdered oil absorbent like peat moss.

  • 일반적으로, 고체로켓모타에 대한 지상연소시험을 실시할 경우, 연소관 내부의 압력을 계측하기 위해 압력 계측용 배관에 기름을 채우고 그 끝에 압력센서를 연결하여 사용한다. 통상적으로 사용되어지는 이 방법은 지상연소시험을 실시할 경우에는 특별한 문제가 되지 않으나, 고고도 환경에서 점화되는 고체로켓모타의 압력계측은 배관 기름의 누출로 인한 점화성능 저하가 문제시된다. 이는 배관의 부착 위치가 통상적으로 전방 점화기 부위인 것에 기인한 것이며, 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 기름을 사용하지 않는 압력배관을 어떻게 설계하고 검증하였는지에 대해 기술하도록 하겠다.

미생물에 의한 폐기름 탄화수소의 분해 (Microbial Degradation of Hydrocarbons in the Waste Oil)

  • 폐기름 유출지역에서 분리 동정된 미생물 Xl, X2, X3은 폐유나 그 주성분인 난분해성 물질들을 유일 탄소원으로 자랄 수 있었다. Naphthalene과 2-methyl naphthalene은 7일만에 약 80$\%$ 분해되었다. Hexane과 hexadecane은 거의 대부분 분해되며 60$\%$의 분해가 폐유에서 관찰되었다. 합성 계면활성제인 Triton X-100와 Tween 20은 세포의 성장과 분해에 오히려 저해함을 보였다. Xl, X2은 그람 음성을 X3은 그람 양성을 보이며 항생제 ampicillin에 저항성을 가진다. Xl의 30kb plasmid을 E.coli에 transform하여 유전공학적 활용 가능성을 보였다.

해상누유의 초기확산 예측모델 및 수치추정 (Prediction Model and Numerical Simulation of the Initial Diffusion of Spilled Oil on the Sea Surface)

  • 연안해역에서의 해상 운송량이 늘어남과 함께 유조선의 충돌 및 좌초 등의 해난사고에 의해 해양환경에 막대한 피해를 끼치는 원유 유출사고도 대폭 증가하고 있다. 누유의 효율적인 수거와 환경피해를 최소화 하기 위해서는 oil map 즉, 누유오염지역의 시간영역에서 정확한 예측이 매우 중요하다. 이러한 예측은 정수면위 누유의 초기확산과 조류, 바람 파도에 기인한 표층류에 의한 이동이라는 중요한 두가지 과정을 고려하여 이루어진다. 본 논문에서는 초기확산만을 고려하였다. 누유의 초기확산 추정을 위해 새로운 수치모델과 기법이 제안되었다. 본 모델의 타당성을 검증하기 위해 간단한 실험이 이루어졌다. 또한, 가상누유사고에 대해 수치 시뮬레이션을 수행하였는데 본 모델로 부터 기름층두께를 포함하는 매우 현실적인 oil map을 얻을 수 있었다.
