Purpose: This study aimed to measure the bilateral differences of facial lines in spherical coordinates from faces within a normal range of asymmetry utilizing cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: CBCT scans from 22 females with normal symmetric-looking faces (mean age 24 years and 8 months) were selected for the study. The average menton deviation was $1.01{\pm}0.66$ mm. The spherical coordinates, length, and midsagittal and coronal inclination angles of the ramal and mandibular lines were calculated from CBCT. The bilateral differences in the facial lines were determined. Results: All of the study subjects had minimal bilateral differences of facial lines. The normal range of facial asymmetry of the ramal and mandibular lines was obtained in spherical coordinates. Conclusion: The normal range of facial asymmetry in the spherical coordinate system in this study should be useful as a reference for diagnosing facial asymmetry.

To improve the accuracy of products and improve the product quality, we need to enhance the machining accuracy of the machine tools. To this point of view, measurement and inspection of finished part as well as error analysis of machine tools has been studied for last several decades. OMM(On the Machine Measurement) has been issued to alternate with CMM, pointing out disadvantages of high expenses and lots of setting time in CMM. In this paper, we study 1) the spherical surface manufacturing by volumetric error compensation of machine tool, 2) the system development of OMM without detaching work piece from a bed of machine tool after working. 3) the generation of the finished part profile by On the machine measurement. Furthermore, the output of OMM is compared with that of CMM, and verified the feasibility of the measurement system.
We present a new code for solving non-LTE radiative transfer problems in a general grid (RIG). RIG develops from RATRAN code (Hogerheijde & van der Tak 2000) using the Accelerated Monte-Carlo method, and it can cope with line overlap effect among multiple molecular and atomic species. In this algorithm we make grids in arbitrary coordinates adequate to the problem, but, on the other hand, photons propagate in the Cartesian coordinates. For spherical, cylindrical and other well defined coordinate, the problem of tracing photon's path reduces to solving simple quadratic equations. For example, the outflow in the star formation have high dynamic range in scales from a few AU to ~ 0.1 pc and have also cylindrical symmetry. So, we have used (r, ${\alpha}$) coordinate system, where r is the distance from the origin and ${\alpha}$ is z/ R2 in the cylindrical coordinate of (R,z). The (r, ${\alpha}$) coordinate realizes the density - power function of r - and temperature distributions of the problems with smaller numbers of grid than the cylindrical coordinate does, and the former consumes less time to solve the problems than the latter.

Free surface fluid oscillation in prolate spheroidal tanks has been investigated analytically in this study. This paper aims is to investigate the sloshing frequencies in spheroidal prolate tanks and compare them with conventional cylindrical and spherical containers to select the best tank geometry for use in space launch vehicles in which the volume of fuel is very high. Based on this, the analytical method (Fourier series expansion) and potential fluid theory in the spheroidal coordinate system are used to extract and analyze the governing differential equations of motion. Then, according to different aspect ratios and other parameters such as filling levels, the fluid sloshing frequencies in the spheroidal prolate tank are determined and evaluated based on various parameters. The natural frequencies obtained for a particular tank are compared with other literature and show a good agreement with these results. In addition, spheroidal prolate tank frequencies have been compared with sloshing frequencies in cylindrical and spherical containers in different modes. Results show that when the prolate spheroidal tank is nearly full and in the worst case when the tank is half full and the free fluid surface is the highest, the prolate spheroidal natural frequencies are higher than of spherical and cylindrical tanks. Therefore, the use of spheroidal tanks in heavy space launch vehicles, in addition to the optimal use of placement space, significantly reduces the destructive effects of sloshing.
This paper proposes an omni-directional image generation algorithm with parametric image compensation. The algorithm generates an omni-directional image by transforming each planar image to the spherical image on spherical coordinate. Parametric image compensation method is presented in order to compensate vignetting and illumination distortions caused by properties of a camera system and lighting condition. The proposed algorithm can generates realistic and seamless omni-directional video and synthesize any point of view from the stitched omni-directional image on the spherical image. Experimental results show that the proposed omni-directional system with vignetting and illumination compensation is approximately $1{\sim}4dB$ better than that which does not consider the said effects.
In this paper, we propose an image analysis system based on omnidirectional image and object tracking image display using super wide angle camera. In order to generate spherical images, the projection process of converting from two wide-angle images to the equirectangular panoramic image was performed and the spherical image was expressed by converting rectangular to spherical coordinate system. Object tracking was performed by selecting the desired object initially, and KCF(Kernelized Correlation Filter) algorithm was used so that robust object tracking can be performed even when the object's shape is changed. In the initial dialog, the file and mode are selected, and then the result is displayed in the new dialog. If the object tracking mode is selected, the ROI is set by dragging the desired area in the new window.

In the three dimensional Cartesian Coordinate System such as the satellite geodesy the relationship of the geoid and the reference ellipsoid must be known. Therefore, the determination of geoidal heights is regarded as one of the most important problem in geodesy. This paper deals with determination of astro-geodetic geoid by the spherical surface polynomials interpolation method. The data that astronomical deflection of the vertical was published by National Geography Institute is applied. The map of geoidal heights is drawn out. This shows that Tokyo Datum have influenced on Korea.
Previous image processing techniques based on plane-to-plane transformations cannot be utilized for spherical panoramic images. In this paper, we propose a new method to inpaint a spherical panoramic image using exemplar, which is deformed by the location of the patch. Our proposed method makes the deformed exemplar patch by latitude and uses it as the reference patch to restore the damaged area. The exemplar-based inpainting method is based on the planar image coordinate system and thus the classical method cannot be applied to the spherical panoramic image. The merit of our proposed method is the fact that it is not dependent on the location of the damaged area. From the experimental results, we proved that our proposed method satisfies the original purpose of the exemplar-based inpainting technique for the spherical panoramic image.

For copyright protection of digital contents, we employ watermarking techniques to embed watermark signals into digital host data. In this paper we propose an adaptive watermarking algorithm for three-dimensional (3-D) mesh models. Watermark signals are inserted into vertex coordinates adaptively according to changes of their position values. While we embed strong watermarks in the areas of large variations, watermarks are weakly inserted in other areas. After we generate triangle strips by traversing the 3-D model and convert the Cartesian coordinates to the spherical coordinate system, we calculate variations of vertex positions along the traversed strips. Then, we insert watermark signals into the vertex coordinates adaptively according to the calculated variations. We demonstrate that imperceptibility of the inserted watermark is significantly improved and show the bit error rate (BER) for robustness.
Panorama image is a single image obtained by combining images taken at several viewpoints through matching of corresponding points. Existing panoramic image generation methods that find the corresponding points are extracting local invariant feature points in each image to create descriptors and using descriptor matching algorithm. In the case of video sequence, frames may be a lot, so therefore it may costs significant amount of time to generate a panoramic image by the existing method and it may has done unnecessary calculations. In this paper, we propose a method to quickly create a single panoramic image from a video sequence. By assuming that there is no significant changes between frames of the video such as in locally, we use the FAST algorithm that has good repeatability and high-speed calculation to extract feature points and the Lucas-Kanade algorithm as each feature point to track for find the corresponding points in surrounding neighborhood instead of existing descriptor matching algorithms. When homographies are calculated for all images, homography is changed around the center image of video sequence to warp images and obtain a planar panoramic image. Finally, the spherical panoramic image is obtained by performing inverse transformation of the spherical coordinate system. The proposed method was confirmed through the experiments generating panorama image efficiently and more faster than the existing methods.
