  • This study presents a design of integrated management system for manufacturing company for the purpose of reducing operation cost and speeding up flow of processes. Since common commercial management package should be well customized to reflect inherent processes of each company with great deal of effort, this study chooses a manufacturing company that produces component parts of automobile as a target company and designs management system specified for that target company. System design focuses on the minimization of the indirect cost of manufacturing reflected on the manufacturing cost price for each functional modules consisting of entire system through adding a mechanism to reduce unnecessary occurrence of process transactions. In addition, this paper considers connectivity among the functional modules so that manufacturing situations can be influenced on the system to be implemented and includes the system design with monitoring modules and data flow between functional modules.

Effectiveness of Pavement Marking for Speed Reduction by Using Driving Simulator (시뮬레이터를 이용한 감속유도 노면표시의 효과 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to establish how drivers react on different pavement markings in a driving simulator for speed reduction. For this, forty one people between the ages of twenty and seventy took part in this experiment. A study analyzed which patterns are effective to reduce a speeding. As a results, 'Peripheral Transverse Lines II' were the most effective treatment for reducing driving speeds in the driving simulator. This study carries an important meaning when presenting the effectiveness of speed reduction for perceptual countermeasure based on the human factors. Further research will be required to determine the long term effectiveness of these countermeasures due to concerns over drivers becoming too accustomed to implemented markings. Also, the color contrasts (for example, dark asphalt with white markings) can be considered.

The Effects of Pavement Markings on High-risk Drivers' Speeds (사고위험성이 높은 운전자에 대한 노면표시 효과 연구)

  • PURPOSES: Speeding is often the primary contributor to fatal crashes. Surprisingly, driving behaviors are indirectly affected by personal factors such as law-abidance, risk sensitivity, and situational adaptability. This research aims to verify the effectiveness of pavement markings at reducing the speeds of high-risk drivers. The purpose of this study is to establish how drivers (including law-abiding or law-breaking, high-risk or low-risk) react to different pavement markings in a driving simulator. METHODS: The five different pavement markings were selected from markings used in other nations. The forty-two drivers were then surveyed, via questionnaires, and placed into the corresponding groups. Finally, statistical analysis was conducted to determine the extent of speed reduction for each pavement marking. RESULTS: Higher speeds were linked to the high-risk drivers. Furthermore, after analysis of the mean difference of average speeds by pavement marking, it was determined that Dragon's Teeth had the greatest speed reducing effect on these drivers. CONCLUSIONS: Perceptual countermeasures are unlikely to strongly affect high-risk drivers' perception of speed on the curves. This statistically demonstrates that Dragon's Teeth have a subtle effect on reducing speeds in the driving simulator. This study's significance lies in the improved understanding of high-risk drivers in terms of road facilities. It approaches the effects of various patterns of pavement markings for high-risk drivers.

Probable Effect of Rumble Strips on Reduction of Traffic Accidents (노면요철포장으로 인한 사고감소 효과)

  • There have been research and studies on rumble strip effectiveness in terms of accident reduction since rumble strips were first installed in 1950's. Research has shown that rumble strips reduce accidents from drowsy and inattentive driving. The present research statistically analyze the accident reduction effect of rumble strips based on accident reports obtained from rumble strip installed 377 places of nation wide freeway lines. Based on the results, rumble strips are effective in reducing accident frequencies 32.3%. The probable various factors inducing accidents are identified. These include drowsiness, speeding, inattentiveness, vehicle defectiveness, and short headways. It was found that rumble strips are effective in reducing A, B, C leveled accidents, and in reducing clear, cloudy, and rainy weather accidents. The results may make clear and expand probable types of accidents that rumble strips would reduce, then reduce the total accidents on freeway lines.

An Efficient Management Model of Security Policy in the Unified Threat Management System (통합 보안 시스템에서의 효율적인 보안 정책 관리 모델)

  • This paper showed that the integrated system to fortify security was much more efficient than the respective system through the analysis of problems from Firewall and IPS system in the existing security systems. The results of problem analysis revealed that there were the delay of processing time and lack of efficiency in the existing security systems. Accordingly, their performance was evaluated by using the separated Firewall, IPS system, and the integrated system. The result of evaluation shows that the integrated security system this paper suggested is five times faster than the existing one in terms of processing speed of response. This paper demonstrated the excellence of the proposed security system is also more than fivefold in session handling per second and six times process speeding in the CPU processing performance. In addition, several security policies are applied, and it provided a fact that it gave an excellent performance when it comes to protecting from harmful traffic attacks. In conclusion, this paper emphasized that fortifying the integrated security system was more efficient than fortifying the existing one considering in various respects such as cost, management, time, space and so on.

  • The government has recently come up with a policy to tighten regulations on air pollutant emissions due to public concerns over the emission of pollutants such as fine dust. The coal-fired power plant is speeding up the improvement of the performance of environmental facilities, and this paper deals with the cases of performance improvement by adding a catalyst to the 500 MW standard coal-fired power DeNox system, and examines the change in the performance factors according to the addition of catalysts and the efficiency of NOx removal. The DeNOx efficiency before and after improvement increased from 80% to 88%, and the conversion rate of SO2/SO3, ammonia slip which are performance factors satisfied the design assurance value, but exceeded the design assurance value for differential pressure. At the same time, the ammonia slip concentration and differential pressure items increased as the NOx removal efficiency increased, resulting in the need for management and improvement.

  • The section speed enforcement system measures the starting instantaneous speed, the The section speed enforcement system measures the starting instantaneous speed, the ending instantaneous speed, and the section average speed, and imposes fines only for the portion that has been speeding the most. However, according to the Road Traffic Act, most of the systems are installed on highways, so existing research has been conducted on highway sections. In this study, it is expected that the installation of section speed enforcement systems on general national roads will be expanded according to the revision of related laws. ITS collection and operation data targeting the section speed enforcement system installed on National Road 3 Seongnam Icheon-ro was used to analyze traffic speed, standard deviation of traffic speed, and reduction in traffic accidents by dividing it into before installation, trial operation period, and after crackdown. As a result of the analysis, the traffic speed, standard deviation, and traffic accidents decreased by 13%, 25%, and 70%, respectively, after installation, confirming that the installation of the section speed enforcement system greatly contributed to the reduction of accidents.

  • Recently, speeding up real time calculation using the specialized hardware accelerator is often used in the various engineering and science area, and the accelerators are required to include PCI express interconnection between FPGA and a host computer. The implementation of the high speed PCIe for the multi-giga bytes per second transmission is one of the most difficult issue in the development of the accelerators. There are several commercialized IP solutions and research results in the literature, but these solutions are required extra cost and design period to analyze the detailed implementation method. For the hardware accelerator on Xilinx FPGA, utilizing Xilinx's XDMA PCIe IP, which is provided without extra charge, can be the best solution in terms of the development period and cost. Consequently, this paper presents the evaluation system on Zynq-7000 FPGA and Windows 10 host computer, and analyze the performance of the PCIe IP with various configuration parameters.

  • Efficiency is one of the most important factors in cryptographic systems. Cheon et al. proposed a new exponent form for speeding up the exponentiation operation in discrete logarithm based cryptosystems. It is called split exponent with the form $e_1+{\alpha}e_2$ for a fixed element ${\alpha}$ and two elements $e_1$, $e_2$ with low Hamming weight representations. They chose $e_1$, $e_2$ in two unbalanced subsets $S_1$, $S_2$ of $Z_p$, respectively. We achieve efficiency improvement making $S_1$, $S_2$ balanced subsets of $Z_p$. As a result, speedup for exponentiations on binary fields is 9.1% and speedup for scalar multiplications on Koblitz Curves is 12.1%.

  • Reverse engineering involves examining a system or component so as to comprehend its structure, functionality, and operation. Creation of a system model in reverse engineering can serve several purposes: test generation, change impact analysis, and the creation of a new or modified system. When attempting to reverse engineering a system, often the most readily accessible information is the system description, which does not readily lend itself to use in Model Based System Engineering (MBSE). Therefore, it is necessary to be able to transform this description into a diagram, which clearly depicts the behavior of the system as well as the interaction between components. This study demonstrates how sequence diagrams can be extracted from the systems description. Using MBSE software, the sequence diagrams for the Engineered Safety Features Component Control System (ESF-CCS) of the Nuclear Power Plant are created. Sequence diagrams are chosen because they are a means of representing the systems behavior and the interaction between components. In addition, from these diagrams, the system's functional requirements can be elicited. These diagrams then serve as the baseline of the reverse engineering process and multiple system views are subsequently be created from them, thus speeding up the development process. In addition, the use of MBSE ensures that any additional information obtained from auxiliary sources can then be input into the system model, ensuring data consistency.
