  • Speed and torque controls of permanent magnet synchronous motors are usually attained by the application of position and speed sensors. However, speed and position sensors require the additional mounting space, reduce the reliability in harsh environments and increase the cost of a motor. Therefore, many studies have been peformed for the elimination of speed and position sensors. This paper investigates a novel speed sensorless control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The proposed control strategy is based on the MRAS(Model Reference Adaptive System) using the state observer model with the current error feedback and the magnet flux model as two models for the back-emf estimation. The proposed algorithm is verified through the simulation and experiment.

  • Recently sensorless PMSM is much studied for the industrial applications and home appliances. Most of sensorless algorithm are based on the motor equations of which coefficients are motor parameters. However, uncertainty of motor parameter effects the accuracy of speed estimation of PMSM. This paper investigates the robust speed control of sensorless PMSM which has robustness to parameter uncertainty or variation. The parameter compensation is performed through PI control of the speed error between the estimated speed and the real speed obtained from the measured current. The proposed algorithm is verified through the experiment.

  • A new BWIM(bridge weigh-in-motion) algorithm using both measured strain and acceleration data is proposed. To consider the effects of bridge vibration on the estimation of moving loads, the dynamic governing equation is applied with the known stiffness and mass properties but damping is ignored. Dynamic displacements are computed indirectly from the measured strains using the beam theory and accelerations are measured directly by accelerometers. To convert a unit moving load to its equivalent nodal force, a transformation matrix is determined. The incompleteness in the measured responses is considered in developing the algorithm. To examine the proposed BWIM algorithm, simulation studies, laboratory experiments and field tests were carried. In the simulation study, effects of measurement noise and estimation error in the vehicle speed on the results were investigated.

  • The major source of errors in high-speed networks such as Broadband ISDN(B-lSDN) is buffer overflow during congested conditions. These congestion errors are the dominant sources of errors in 1high-speed networks and result in cell losses. Conventional communication protocols use error detection and retransmission to deal with lost packets and transmission errors. However, these conventional ARQ(Automatic Repeat Request) methods are not suitable for the high-speed networks since the transmission delay due to retransmissions becomes significantly large. As an alternative, we have presented a method to recover consecutive cell losses using forward error correction(FEC) in ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode)networks to reduce the problem. The performance estimation based on the cell discard process model has showed our method can reduce the cell loss rate substantially. Also, the performance estimations in ATM networks by interleaving and IP multicast service are discussed.

  • In this paper, we propose a fast motion estimation algorithm which is important in video encoding. So many fast motion estimation algorithms have been published for improving prediction quality and computational reduction. In the paper, we propose an algorithm that reduces unnecessary computation, while almost keeping prediction quality compared with the full search algorithm. The proposed algorithm calculates the sum of partial block matching error for each candidate, selects the candidates for the next step, compares the stability of optimal candidates with minimum error, and finds optimal motion vectors by determining the progress of the next step. By doing that, we can find the minimum error point as soon as possible and obtain fast computational speed by reducing unnecessary computations. Additionally, the proposed algorithm can be used with conventional fast motion estimation algorithms and prove it in the experimental results.

  • In this paper, we propose a fast motion estimation algorithm which is important in performance of video encoding. Even though so many fast algorithms for motion estimation have been published due to tremendous computational amount of full search algorithm, efforts for reducing computations of motion estimation still remain. In the paper, we propose an algorithm that reduces unnecessary computations only, while keeping prediction quality the same as that of the full search. The proposed algorithm does not calculate block matching error for each candidate directly to find motion vectors but divides the calculation procedure into several steps and calculates partial sum of block errors for candidates with high priority. By doing that, we can find the minimum error point early and get the enhancement of calculation speed by reducing unnecessary computations. The proposed algorithm uses smaller computations than conventional fast search algorithms with the same prediction quality as the full search algorithm.

  • This research was done to prove the optimal position to detect a train reader when using a multiple fusion sensor. The experiment was done using four Train installed RFID Readers located on the train. These readers were read by sensors installed at intervals of 50 meters on the up and down sections of the Line 8, from Amsa station to Moran station. We analyze errors in the recognition range according to the Tag's number of recognition due to RFID of train speed, and propose a method of estimation for an accurate estimation of the position of train At this the Least-Squares Method is applied to judge the position of train accurately from the error because of Tag's number of recognition and RFID of train speed. also It is verified through simulation.

  • Linear motor is able to produce line movement without rotary-to-line converter at the system required line moving. Thus Linear motor has no gear, screw, belt for line movement. Therefore it has some advantage which decrease friction loss, noise, vibration, maintenance effort and prevent decay of control performance due to backlash. This paper proposes the estimation method of unknown parameters from the BLDC Linear motor and determine the PI controller gain through this estimation. Each control movement that is current, speed, position control, and PWM wave generation is performed on Processor, which is DSP(Digital Signal Processor), having high speed performance. PI theory is adopted to each for controller for control behavior More fast convergence to command position is accomplished by applying the new velocity locus which derived from position error.

  • In this paper the robust vector control method of induction motor for the purpose of improving the system performance deterioration caused by parameter variations is proposed. The estimations of the stator current and the rotor flux are obtained by the full order state observer with corrective prediction error feedback. and the adaptive scheme is constructed to estimate the rotor speed with the error signal between real and estimation value of the stator current. Adaptive sliding observer based on the variable structure control is applied to parameter identification. Consequently predictive current control and speed sensorless vector control can be obtained simultaneously regardless of the parameter variations.

  • In order to estimation the optimum PID parameter of the turbine speed controller, the response cure of the object plant was compared with the reference pattern and then the magnitude peak value error and peak time error was calculated. With the calculated errors as input into the Fuzzy inference Method was introduced to propose the tuning method for each parameter. And the computer simulation was performed with the above Fuzzy inference method in which the Chunju hydro power plant turbine governor system was used as a model. This Study also aims to develop the exclusive tuner for govenor using industrial computer.
