In this paper, a method for detection of forged signatures based on spectral analysis of directional gradient density function and a weighted fuzzy classifier is proposed. The well defined outline of an incoming signature image is extracted in a preprocessing stage which includes noise reduction, automatic thresholding, image restoration and erosion process. The directional gradient density function derived from extracted signature outline is highly related to the overall shape of signature image, and thus its frequency spectrum is used as a feature set. With this spectral feature set, having a property to be invariant in size, shift, and rotation, a weighted fuzzy classifier is evaluated for the verification of freehand and random forgeries. Experiments show that less than 5% averaged error rate can be achieved on a database of 500 signature samples.

In this paper, some new results on minimum-bandwidth system are presented. First, we state sufficient condition for the existance of a existance of a power spectral null at the zero frequency and Nyquist frequency. Second, eye boundary functions and eyewidth are obtained for minimum-bandwidth systems of arbitrary numbers of transmitted symbol levels. Third, for linear minimum-bandwidth systems usually known as PR systems, we derived formulars for evaluating DSVs and ASVs in terms of the coefficients of the system polynomials and using formulars, we obtain DSVs and ASVs of various PR systems. Last, the relations among DSV, ASV, power spectral nulls, system polynomial nulls, and the minimum-bandwidth property are summarized.
The sub-Nyquist nonuniform sampling (SNNS) and the perfect reconstruction (PR) formula are proposed for the development of a systematic method to obtain minimal representation of a speech signal. In the proposed method, the instantaneous sampling frequency (ISF) varies, depending on the least upper boundary of spectral support of a speech signal in time-frequency domain (TFD). The definition of the instantaneous bandwidth (IB), which determines the ISF and is used for generating the set of samples that represent continuous-time signals perfectly, is given. Also, the spectral characteristics of the sampled data generated by the sub-Nyquist nonuniform sampling method is analyzed. The proposed method doesn't generate the redundant samples due to the time-varying property of the instantaneous bandwidth of a speech signal.
Modal analysis method (MAM) is introduced for the fully coupled structural dynamic problems. In this paper, the beam with active constrained layered damping (ACLD) treatment is considered as a representative problem. The ACLD beam consists of a viscoelastic layer that is sandwiched between the base beam structure and an active piezoelectric layer. The exact damped natural modes are spectrally formulated from a set of fully coupled dynamic equations of motion. The orthogonality property of the exact damped natural modes is then derived in a closed form to complete the modal analysis method. The accuracy of the present MAM is evaluated through some illustrative examples: the dynamic characteristics obtained by the present MAM are compared with the results by spectral element method (SEM) and finite element method (FEM). It is numerically proved that MAM solutions become identical to the accurate SEM solutions as the number of exact natural used in MAM is increased.

In this paper, the authors applied the method of hydrogen chloride gettering oxidation to fabricate the low noise bipolar transistor. The results of measurements of the effect of guttering on the variation of flicker noise spectral intensity for variable HCI concentrations indicate that flicker noise in bipolar than-sistor is dependent on the surface condition and that the gettering in a mixture of 2% HCI in oxidation produced the optimal results in the fabrication of the low noise device. In addition, it was also noted that the PSG layer formed by the emitter source (phosphorus) did not have so much guttering effect as in the process with HCl getterinng.
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing or OFDM is a form of multi-carrier modulation technique. High spectral efficiency, robustness to channel fading, immunity to impulse interference, uniform average spectral density, capability of handling very strong echoes and less on linear distortion are among the favorite properties of OFDM. Even though there are many advantages of OFDM, t has two main drawbacks: high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) and frequency of offset. In this paper, the issue of PAPR in OFDM is discussed. A new algorithm is proposed to reduce PAPR by selecting the input sequences property using a lookup table.
Hyperspectral image divides VNIR region to over 200 bands which can show continuous spectrum with 10 nm spectral resolution. This property is useful in geology where a spectral feature which is decided by chemical compositions and crystalline structures is recorded well. While this field has been studied variously in foreign countries, the studies are in the early stage in Korea. In this study, characteristic materials associated with AMD were classified by using EO-1 HYPERION data which is a spaceborne hyperspectral image and topographical map and DEM and geochemical map were analyzed in conjunction with the image in order to examine that classified minerals are secondary minerals by AMD.

We report parameters that allow the dielectric functions ${\varepsilon}={\varepsilon}_1+i{\varepsilon}_2$ of $AlAs_xSb_{1-x}$ alloys to be calculated analytically over the entire composition range $0{\leq}x{\leq}1$ in the spectral energy range from 0.74 to 6.0 eV by using the dielectric function parametric model (DFPM). The ${\varepsilon}$ spectra were obtained previously by spectroscopic ellipsometry for x = 0, 0.119, 0.288, 0.681, 0.829, and 1. The ${\varepsilon}$ data are successfully reconstructed and parameterized by six polynomials in excellent agreement with the data. We can determine ${\varepsilon}$ as a continuous function of As composition and energy over the ranges given above, and ${\varepsilon}$ can be converted to complex refractive indices using a simple relationship. We expect these results to be useful for the design of optoelectronic devices and also for in situ monitoring of AlAsSb film growth.

In order to detect climate changes using satellite imagery, the GCOS (Global Climate Observing System) defines requirements such as spatio-temporal resolution, stability by the time change, and uncertainty. Due to limitation of GK-2A sensor performance, the level-2 products can not satisfy the requirement, especially for spatial resolution. In this paper, we found the optimal pan-sharpening algorithm for GK-2A products. The six pan-sharpening methods included in CS (Component Substitution), MRA (Multi-Resolution Analysis), VO (Variational Optimization), and DL (Deep Learning) were used. In the case of DL, the synthesis property based method was used to generate training dataset. The process of synthesis property is that pan-sharpening model is applied with Pan (Panchromatic) and MS (Multispectral) images with reduced spatial resolution, and fused image is compared with the original MS image. In the synthesis property based method, fused image with desire level for user can be produced only when the geometric characteristics between the PAN with reduced spatial resolution and MS image are similar. However, since the dissimilarity exists, RD (Random Down-sampling) was additionally used as a way to minimize it. Among the pan-sharpening methods, PSGAN was applied with RD (PSGAN_RD). The fused images are qualitatively and quantitatively validated with consistency property and the synthesis property. As validation result, the GSA algorithm performs well in the evaluation index representing spatial characteristics. In the case of spectral characteristics, the PSGAN_RD has the best accuracy with the original MS image. Therefore, in consideration of spatial and spectral characteristics of fused image, we found that PSGAN_RD is suitable for GK-2A products.
Accurate cloud discrimination in satellite images strongly affects accuracy of remotely sensed parameter produced using it. Especially, cloud contaminated pixel over ocean is one of the major error factors such as Sea Surface Temperature (SST), ocean color, and chlorophyll-a retrievals,so accurate cloud detection is essential process and it can lead to understand ocean circulation. However, static threshold method using real-time algorithm such as Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) can't fully explained reflectance variability over ocean as a function of relative positions between the sun - sea surface - satellite. In this paper, we assembled a reflectance spectral library as a function of Solar Zenith Angle (SZA) and Viewing Zenith Angle (VZA) from ocean surface reflectance with clear sky condition of Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) identified by NOAA's cloud products and spectral library is used for applying the Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) to detect cloud pixels. We compared qualitatively between AHI cloud property and our results and it showed that AHI cloud property had general tendency toward overestimation and wrongly detected clear as unknown at high SZA. We validated by visual inspection with coincident imagery and it is generally appropriate.
