Physicochemical Properties of Endosperm Starch and Breadmaking Quality of Rice Cultivars (쌀 품종의 배유 이화학적 특성에 따른 제빵 적성 비교)

  • The physicochemical properties of rice endosperm from five rice varieties and effects of milling on baking bread properties of rice flour were investigated. Five rice varieties exhibited different level of amylose content. The ratio of longer amylopectin chain length to the distribution of endosperm starches was the highest in Goami3. According to the RVA measurement of rice flours, the pasting temperatures of Seolgaengbyeo and Goamibyeo were lower than those of the other rice varieties. There were differences in the changes of swelling power of rice flour under increasing temperature. Each rice flour sample for bread-making was processed into two different particle size by using an air-classification mill, and significant differences were observed among cultivars in the average particle size and damaged starch content of rice flours. Rice flour of Seolgaengbyeo with fine particle size showed the highest value in specific volume after baking.

  • In the past era, acquisition and utilization of useful information was the main origin of competition. Nowadays, unlike that era, is the era of knowledge information(management) in which we should create a new knowledge on the basis of information and apply it to the field of practice. And more acquisition of information is no more the competitive power of any person, any company and any nation because in such the era of knowledge management, anyone can access and get the information he needs, utilizing internet-based searching system. Such demands of the times of knowledge management change rapidly in each field through knowledge management system and researches about knowledge management are actively processed in various academic branches. However, in our field of design, researches about those demands(knowledge management) still remain on the level of one-dimensional searching service for general data about design. Therefore, in this study, we developed building database of researches on form, color, aesthetical elements, preference image word, satisfaction etc. about CI/BI of home electronics goods, living goods, apparels, and food goods companies, also suggesting searching system through which you can obtain useful data and information helpful for designers to process CI/BI works of new product by using that database. Especially, in case of developing specific CI/BI, various search results through help of suggested system will supply a useful design concept. And more, cross table which is the result of analysis two-dimensional categorical data about existing design factors(such as form, color, aesthetical elements, preference image word, and satisfaction) will make contribution for designers to create a new design knowledge.

Development of a Groundwater Sampler and Test in a Well Affected by Seawater Intrusion (지하수 샘플러 개발 및 해수침투 관측정에서의 평가)

  • A new ground water sampler was developed and evaluated for target depth sampling under most rigorous field conditions. This new concept sampler comprises an air-cylinder, a hypodermic needle and a sampling bottle. Pressurized air or nitrogen gas can be used as a mechanical power source to operate the sampler. The air-cylinder is used to jab the hypodermic needle into the rubber cap of the sampling bottle. The hypodermic needle functions as a pathway to inject groundwater into the sampling bottle. Field test was conducted in a seawater intrusion monitoring well located at Handong district of Jeju Island. Water qualities in this well are periodically changed from the effects of sea water. Water sampling fir the same target depth in this well were tried at various times, and variations in electrical conductivity and pressure at the inside and outside of the sampler were measured using CTD divers. We found that the device could collect water samples only when it was actuated, and the pattern and range of variations in electrical conductivities and pressures measured at the inside and outside of the sampler were nearly identical. These results indicate that water samples using the sampler presented in this study represent correctly water qualities in which the samplings were made at a specific target depth in a well.

Introduction to Chang'e-3 and Analysis of Estimated Mission Trajectory (창어 3호 개요 및 임무궤적 추정결과 분석)

  • Chang'e-3 consisting of a lunar lander and exploration rover was launched on December 1, 2013 aboard a Long March 3B rocket flying from Xichang space launch center. Chang'e-3 was inserted into the lunar orbit after about a 5-day transit to the Moon and landed on the targeted landing site after orbiting around the Moon for 8 days. The successful landing of the Chang'e-3 gives a lot of help to analyze the future needs of the subsystem technologies and to figure out the trajectory from launch to lunar landing as well as operation sequences in the development of Korean lunar exploration is scheduled. Therefore, the configuration and analysis of overall mission of Chang'e-3 is performed based on the public information from the press and website. As a result, overall mission trajectory is reconstructed by solving boundary condition and then estimating control variable. Visibility status and eclipse status also analyzes so communication and power charge condition is as good as to operate lunar lander. Mass budget of the lander is derived using ${\Delta}V$ according to specific impulse.

  • Regarding climate change, the most significant challenge the world faces is achieving the goal of stabilizing the global concentration of greenhouse gases. However, this cannot be accomplished by greenhouse gas reduction efforts of developed countries alone. In this context, a "sectoral approach" has been brought up as a way to overcome the limit of the Kyoto Protocol and induce the participation of developing countries. This paper focuses on the different types of sectoral approaches that have been suggested so far, and their criteria, scope and effectiveness. It therefore explores the potential each approach has as a policy alternative under the post-2012 scheme. On top of that, with the possibility of these sectoral approaches becoming strong future policy alternatives in mind, this paper also analyzes their applicability to the Korean industry. For the steel, petrochemical and oil industries - in which energy efficiency exceeds the world average- a technology-based approach is proposed as an alternative. For the cement, paper and power generation industries - in which energy efficiency is about the same as the global average - a sectoral crediting mechanism or an index-based approach or a sector-wide transnational approach are proposed as alternatives. Lastly, this paper suggests a future research direction for their adoption and implementation.

Physical Properties and Cleaning Ability of New Cleaning Agents Based on 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (TFEA) (2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (TFEA)를 기초로한 세정제의 물성 및 세정성 영향 연구)

  • Non-aqueous cleaning agents were formulated with 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (TFEA) and hydrofluoroether (HFE), and their physical properties and cleaning abilities were examined. TFEA-based aqueous cleaning agents were also formulated with nonionic surfactants, hydrotropes and builders, and their cleaning abilities were compared. Possibilities of these cleaning agents as substitutes for CFC-113 and 1,1,1-TCE were finally evaluated. In this work, fluxes, cutting oils, greases, and fluoric oils were selected as model contaminants for cleaning experiments. These contaminants have different properties of water-solubility or hydrophilicity, and fat-solubility or lypophilicity. Cleaning abilities of TFEA-based cleaning agents were analyzed and compared through the measurement of contaminant weight changes as a function of cleaning time, and their possibilities as alternative cleaning agents were evaluated. As a result, it was shown that TFEA and HFE-based non-aqueous cleaning agents have quite a good cleaning power for fluxes and fluorine soils but low one for greases. And TFEA-based agueous cleaning agents which consisted of nonionic surfactants, hydrotrope, and builders were very effective for cleaning fluxes and greases under certain formulation conditions. Thus, it was revealed that the TFEA-based cleaning agents were very effective for cleaning specific contaminants and can be used as substitutes for CFC-113 and 1,1,1-TCE in some industrial applications.

Effects of Strawberry Powders on the Quality Characteristics of Yellow Layer Cake (딸기 분말의 첨가가 옐로우 레이어 케이크의 품질특성에 미치는 영향)

  • In order to determine the effects of strawberry powder on the baking quality of cakes, yellow layer cakes were prepared with four freeze-dried strawberry powders substitutes, at levels of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% and 5%. Then, the physical properties, baking properties and sensory characteristics of the finished cakes were assessed. The cakes were stored for 6 days at $22^{\circ}C$ and the change in hardness during storage was evaluated. The Viscosity of the doughs, as well as the specific gravity, increased as the amount of strawberry powder in the flour increased. The volume indices of the strawberry powder cakes were less than that of control, but the other indices did not differ from those of the controls. The crust color of the strawberry cakes evidenced a reduction in L. a and b values. The crumb color also evidenced a reduction in the L and b values, but the a values increased. Sensory characteristics were evaluated by 60 students from the Dept. of Food and Biotechnology. Crust color, crumb color, moistness, softness, taste and overall acceptance were measured via a 5-scale acceptance test. The crust color of cakes containing more than 3% strawberry powders and the crumb color of all strawberry cakes evidenced lower scores than the controls. Cakes containing 5% strawberry powders were least acceptable in terms of overall characteristics. Although cakes prepared with flour containing up to 4% strawberry powder were less acceptable than the controls, general sensory scores ranged in an average${\sim}$like range. The incorporation of strawberry power into cakes was shown to increase the overall hardness.

  • The current status of Korean social work can be summarized as multiple complexities and ambiguities not only in ideological but in practical aspects. Although they have long been considered as an unique feature of social work as one of representative human service professions, the extent of such complexities are now reaching the culmination enough to raise the questions about the very nature of social work practice. This study aims to analyse such ambiguities and complexities around the field of social work in a systematic ways with the theory of liquid modernization, an creative framework for modern society, coined by Zygmunt Bauman who is now considered as one of the leading sociologist and thinker. The study shows clearly that social work in Korea is nowadays entering the phase of liquid modern society and specific features of liquidity of modern society such as consumerism, privatization, corruption of publicity etc are founded in the areas of social work. To make it worse, social work are thinking about the anachronical response to this flow of liquidity by selecting the strategies useful in solid modern era, not in the liquid one. In this context, the study suggests that social work practice have to prepare to adequate measures to secure its own autonomy and sustain genuine identification from the ruthless melting power of liquid modern society.

Comparison with SAR Patterns of Biological Objects Contacted with Coaxial Waveguide Antenna Using MUR and GPML ABCs in the FDTD Method (유한차분법에서 MUR과 GPML 흡수경계조건을 이용한 동축 도파관 안테나에 접촉된 생체의 SAR 패턴 비교)

  • The SAR patterns of biological objects contacted with coaxial waveguide antennal has been investigated, in which the biological object was modeled by a homogeneous and four-layered lossy human body. We derived the finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) algorithm and equation of MUR and generalized perfectly matched layer(GPML) ABCs in cylindrical coordination. The coupling between coaxial waveguide antenna and a biological object was analyzed by use of MUR and GPML ABCs in the FDTD method to obtain the absorbed power patterns in the media. The specific absorption rates (SAR) distribution which was corresponding to the temperature distribution was calculated in each region by use of the steady-state response in the FDTD method. The SAR patterns of the FDTD method using MUR absorbing boundary conditions(ABCs) was compared with those of the FDTD method using GPML ABCs. The comparison exhibits that the penetration depth of the SAR patterns using MUR ABCs is deeper than that of the SAR patterns using GPML ABCs because of loss in free space. However, the spread in the lateral directions of the SAR patterns using GPML ABCs is smaller than of the SAR patterns using MUR ABCs.

Performance Analysis of Interference Cancellation Algorithms for an FM Based PCL System (FM 신호 기반 PCL 시스템에서 간섭 신호 제거 알고리즘의 성능 분석)

  • An FM radio based PCL system is a passive radar technique for detecting the multiple moving targets from FM radio signals and tracking the trajectories of the targets by calculating the cross-correlation function of direct-path signal and target echo signals. However, the interference signals are received from a surveillance channel, which is designed to receive the target echo signals. Because of this problem, the target echo signals are masked by the strong interference signals and this makes it difficult to detect the true targets from the cross-correlation function. Adaptive filters are known as effective methods for suppressing the interference signals but there is a problem to present their accurate performances in the PCL system because many literatures used the cross-correlation function and the ratio of input and output power as a measure of the performance analysis. In this paper, a performance analysis method is proposed to evaluate the performance of interference cancellation algorithms. By using the property that each component of the filter weight vector is adjusted to suppress the specific interference signal, a performance measure of the interference signal suppression is defined by a function of adaptive filter weights. Based on the proposed method, we compare the performance of the adaptive filters used in the PCL system. Simulation results show that the proposed method can be very effective for evaluating the performance of interference cancellation algorithms.
