A Study on the Application of "Open Education"For Home Economics Education (가정과 교육을 위한"열린교육"의 적용 연구)

  • In this research, researcher will examined the theoretical background of open education. Based on the result of the development of the suggested guidelines for a home economics teaching/learning program, researcher concludes that in order for the teaching/learning programs based on open education to be efficiently acieved in the classroom environment-organization at the middle school the following reform measures must accompany these programs. First, in order for the special characteristics of open education, i.e., individualized and small group study, to be effectively achieved, it is necessary to improve the physical classroom environment-organization. Second, the two class hours per week currently allotted for home economics are not sufficient to convey the information in the textbook. In order to reach objectives of teaching home economics according to open education a guarantee of a few more class hours is demanded. Third, in order to successfully achieve teaching/learning programs following open education, it is necessary for home economics teachers to make efforts to develop educational materials, and to engage in ongoing research and inservice training. For this to occur, measures must be taken to reduce the workload of teachers.

On testing NBUL aging class of life distribution

  • Let X and $X_t$ denote the lifetime and the residual life at age t, respectively. X is said to be a NBUL (new better than used in Laplace transform order) random variable if $X_t$ is smaller than X in Laplace order, i.e., $X_t{\leq}_{LT}X$. We propose a new test statistics for testing exponentiality versus NBUL class of life distribution. The tests by Hollender and Proschan (1975) and the generalized Hollender and Proschan test by Ains and Mitra (2011) are considered as special cases of the our of test statistics. Our proposed test statistics is simple, consistent and asymptotically normal. Efficiency and powers of the test statistics for some commonly used distributions in reliability are discussed. Finally, real examples are presented to illustrate the theoretical results.

  • The purpose of this study is clarify consumer problem on the basis of understanding consumer behavior, that is, to make explicit the effect of economic levels and educational background upon consumer consciousness and consumption behavior. The data in this study is from a survey in 1973 by means of a questionnaire of the opinions of 200 housewives of Seoul. The ${\chi}^2$(Chi-Squire) was applied for the statistical analysis of the data and following results were found. Generally consumers lack understanding of economic matters and satisfactory consciousness on matters of consumption life. And there is significant difference among the class on several matters. That is, the lower economic level and educational background are, the lower the understanding of economic matters and consciousness of satisfaction are. So the consumer education must be carried out for lower class of economic level and educational background. And in the present awakening of salers and makers is needed for consumers.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new class of reciprocal convex set which is called as relative reciprocal convex set. We establish a necessary and sufficient condition for the minimum of the differentiable relative reciprocal convex function. This condition can be viewed as a new class of variational inequality which is called relative reciprocal variational inequality. Using the auxiliary principle technique we discuss the existence criteria for the solution of relative reciprocal variational inequality. Some special cases which are naturally included in our main results are also discussed.

  • The purpose of this paper is to extend the idea of Tamhane and Bechhofer (1977, 1979) concerning the normal means problem to some general class of distributions. The key idea in Tamhane and Bechhofer is the derivation of the computable lower bounds on the probability of a correct selection. To derive such lower bounds, they used the specific covariance structure of a multivariate normal distribution. It is shown that such lower bounds can be obtained for a class of stochastically increasing distributions under certain conditions, which is sufficiently general so as to include the normal means problem as a special application. As an application of the general theory to the scale parameters problem, a two-stage elimination type procedure for selecting the population associated with the smallest variance from among several normal populations is proposed. The design constants are tabulated and the relative efficiencies are computed.

  • The previous study of virtual path design for one traffic class with ATM DCS only should be generalized to that for the multiple traffic class cases of being given neither virtual path candidate set nor end nodes o each virtual path. In this paper, a design model of virtual paths for the general case with multiple traffic classes is suggested. The model is represented as an optimization rpoblem with a special structure. It is solved by SQA algorithm, which is developed by authors in [3, 4]. The model and the algorithm are applied to a numerical example, and results are shown.

  • Electric motor with reduction gear systems are being adopted recently as main propulsion on the special-purposed ships. These specialized ships or offshore vessels require higher power rating generators for propulsion and accommodation power supply. This study investigated the cause of exciter components failure in the view of excessive vibration, force or abnormal ship motion in service. Countermeasures are proposed to address the exciter component failure. A 1.4 MW class dual-fuel engine generator using rigid foundation for a LNG carrier was used as research model.

Developing Mathematics Concepts through Discourses in a Math Classroom (수학수업에서의 담론을 통한 수학적 개념 형성에 관한 연구)

  • Based on the framework of Huffered-Ackles, Fuson and Sherin(2004), data were analyzed in terms of 3 components: explaining(E), questioning(Q) and justifying(J) of students' mathematical concepts and problem solving in a math classroom. The students used varied presentations to explain and justify their mathematical concepts and ideas. They corrected their mathematical errors or misconceptions through discourses. In addition, they constructed and clarified their concepts and thinking while they were interacted. We were able to recognize there was a special feature in discourses that encouraged the students to construct and develop their mathematical concepts. As they participated in math class and received feedback on their learning, the whole class worked cooperatively in a positive way. Their discourse was improved from the level of the actual development to the level of the potential development and the pattern of interaction moved from ERE(Elicitaion-Response-Elaboration to PD(Proposition Discussion).

  • For a given p-valent analytic function g with positive coefficients in the open unit disk $\Delta$, we study a class of functions $f(z) = z^p - \sum\limits{_{n=m}}{^\infty} a_nz^n(a_n{\geq}0)$ satisfying $$\frac 1 {p}{\Re}\;(\frac {z(f*g)'(z)} {(f*g)(z)})\;>\;\alpha\;(0{\leq}\;\alpha\;<\;1;z{\in}{\Delta})$$ Coefficient inequalities, distortion and covering theorems, as well as closure theorems are determined. The results obtained extend several known results as special cases.

  • Let R be a commutative ring with identity. Denote by w𝒫w the class of weak w-projective R-modules and by w𝒫w the right orthogonal complement of w𝒫w. It is shown that (w𝒫w, w𝒫w) is a hereditary and complete cotorsion theory, and so every R-module has a special weak w-projective precover. We also give some necessary and sufficient conditions for weak w-projective modules to be w-projective. Finally it is shown that when we discuss the existence of a weak w-projective cover of a module, it is enough to consider the w-envelope of the module.
