  • Euclidean Voronoi diagram of spheres in 3-dimensional space has not been explored as much as it deserves even though it has significant potential impacts on diverse applications in both science and engineering. In addition, studies on the data structure for its topology have not been reported yet. Presented in this, paper is the topological representation for Euclidean Voronoi diagram of spheres which is a typical non-manifold model. The proposed representation is a variation of radial edge data structure capable of dealing with the topological characteristics of Euclidean Voronoi diagram of spheres distinguished from those of a general non-manifold model and Euclidean Voronoi diagram of points. Various topological queries for the spatial reasoning on the representation are also presented as a sequence of adjacency relationships among topological entities. The time and storage complexities of the proposed representation are analyzed.

  • With the globalization of the film industry, ethnic minority films have been developed and studied by many scholars for their special ethnic representation. The film "Tharlo" directed by Pema Tseden carefully explores the identity anxiety of a Tibetan shepherd. Through the connection and separation between the protagonist and traditional culture, it shows a complexity of modern ethnic identity for minority people. This study explores what kind of cinematic techniques and symbolic elements the director uses to shape ordinary characters, build a narrative space, and show ethnic representation. This paper puts forward a theoretical framework combining cinematic quantitative methods with qualitative narrative and semiotic analysis, aiming to deepen our understanding of cinematic techniques and ethnic representation, and provides a new perspective and profound insights for discussing the complexity faced by ethnic minorities in contemporary films. This study finds that Tseden's "Tharlo" successfully portrays the complex transformation of Tibetan cultural identity in the context of globalization and modernization through cinematic techniques such as fixed camera positions, long take and black-and-white cinematography, combined with the use of symbolic elements like mirrors, lambs and identity cards.

  • This study investigates the examples of memorials in which participants can communicate and interact. Memorials as an urban public space provide various information and experiences to the visitors. The purpose of this study is to investigate the types of participants' experience and the characteristics of memorial space. The 9 examples of the memorials are selected and analyzed by the experience type of participants. This study summarizes the characteristics of spatial representation of memorials as follow; first, the interactions and communications of participants are main considerations in designing memorials. This study defines three types of participants' experience in memorials as educational, emotional and daily urban experiences. Second, the memorial space providing educational experience has narrative characteristics which are explanatory, representational, hierarchical and figurative. Memorials represent historical events and individuals in figurative ways. Participants in memorials learn the event, mourn for the dead and cure the grief through walking the guided route. Third, the memorial space providing emotional experience is indeterminate and open-ended characteristics which are contemplative, symbolic, and abstractive. While participants try to find the way to walk through and understand the meaning of the abstract forms by themselves, they interface the event and the victims in private and individual ways. Fourth, the memorial space providing daily urban experience is the familiar urban facilities embedded remembrance such as memorial square, bridge and fountain. Symbolism of memorials and effectiveness of urban facilities are engaged into the memorial design. They have functional, participatory, interactive and recreational characteristics. People experience the memorials involuntarily and casually during their daily lives. The memorials with urban facilities can be related to the present and the future of the city as well as the past of the city.

  • The efficiency of the multiplier largely depends on the representation of finite filed elements such as normal basis, polynomial basis, dual basis, and redundant representation, and so on. In particular, the redundant representation is attractive since it can simply implement squaring and modular reduction. In this paper, we propose an efficient bit-parallel multiplier for GF(2m) defined by an irreducible all-one polynomial using a redundant representation. We modify the well-known multiplication method which was proposed by Karatsuba to improve the efficiency of the proposed bit-parallel multiplier. As a result, the proposed multiplier has a lower space complexity compared to the previously known multipliers using all-one polynomials. On the other hand, its time complexity is similar to the previously proposed ones.

  • In this paper, we compute directly the Hankel matrix representation of the Hankel operator on the Hardy space of the unit disc without using any classical kernel functions with respect to special orthonormal bases for the Hardy space and its orthogonal complement. This gives an elementary proof for the formula.

  • The 2015 revised science curriculum textbook of 6th graders describes 'day and night' as an astronomical phenomenon observed on a daily basis. Textbooks use only visual materials from a space-based perspective to explain the causes of day and night. This study aims to investigate what changes in spatial representations of 5th graders when additional visual materials of the Earth-based perspective were presented to them. It also shows that the Space and the Earth-based perspectives appear to be interconnected. The following are found in this study. First, when students were presented with a visual material of an Earth-based perspective, their spatial representations of both the Earth and the Space-based perspectives changed. Second, the visual material of an Earth-based perspective confirmed the possibility that students' spatial representation types could be different in many ways. Third, the effect on the spatial representation of each perspective is different depending on gender and the level of spatial representation.

  • Non-manifold topological representations can provide a single unified representation for mixed dimensional models or cellular models and thus have a great potential to be applied in many application areas. Various boundary representations for non-manifold topology have been proposed in recent years. These representations are mainly interested in describing the sufficient adjacency relationships and too redundant as a result. A model stored in these representations occupies too much storage space and is hard to be manipulated. In this paper, we proposed a compact hierarchical non-manifold boundary representation that is extended from the half-edge data structure for solid models by introducing the partial topological entities to represent some non-manifold conditions around a vertex, edge or face. This representation allows to reduce the redundancy of the existing schemes while full topological adjacencies are still derived without the loss of efficiency. To verify the statement above, the storage size requirement of the representation is compared with other existing representations and present some main procedures for querying and traversing the representation. We have also implemented a set of the generalized Euler operators that satisfy the Euler-Poincare formula for non-manifold geometric models.

  • In Korean society, villages, streets, and market space simply served as a space for living or for living. Recently, space storytelling has been applied to create a new complex cultural space. However, the complex cultural space has been studied in various academic fields, but most of them are simply designated as 'facilities'. In this study, we propose this space as a natural convergence space. And the multiple cases were analyzed through Lefevre 's theory of space production. The natural convergence space started from the interest in cultural policy in order to promote the space, and the people practiced the space through the conversion of the recognition as the tourist space. And the identification of local identity or strengthened the existing identity, the convergence of various contents has achieved the representation of space. It also played a positive role in the restoration of community consciousness and showed the process of being produced as a representation space by practicing urban regeneration.

  • In this paper, position vector of a spacelike slant helix with respect to standard frame are deduced in Minkowski space $E^3_1$. Some new characterizations of a spacelike slant helices are presented. Also, a vector differential equation of third order is constructed to determine position vector of an arbitrary spacelike curve. In terms of solution, we determine the parametric representation of the spacelike slant helices from the intrinsic equations. Thereafter, we apply this method to find the parametric representation of some special spacelike slant helices such as: Salkowski and anti-Salkowski curves.
