We present a study on the reflection of optically controlled microwave pulses from non uniform plasma layers in semiconductors. The transient response of the microwave pulses in different plasma layers has been evaluated by means of the reflection function of dielectric microstrip lines. The lines were used with an open-ended termination containing an optically induced plasma region, which was illuminated by a light source. The reflection characteristics impedance resulting from the presence of plasma is evaluated by means of the equivalent transmission line model. We have analyzed the variation of the transient response in a 0.01 cm layer with a surface frequency in the region of 128 GHz. In the reflection the variation of the diffusion length $L_D$ is large compared with the absorption depth $1/{\alpha}_l$. The variation of the characteristic response of the plasma layer with differentially localized pulses has been evaluated analytically. The change of the reflection amplitude has been observed at depths of 0.1 cm, 0.01 cm and $0.1{\times}10^{-5}$ cm respectively.
We study the focusing properties of a two-dimensional square-lattice photonic crystal (PC) comprising silica and germanium partitioned cylinders in air background. The finite difference time domain (FDTD) method with periodic boundary condition is utilized to calculate the dispersion band diagram and the FDTD method incorporating the perfectly matched layer boundary condition is employed to simulate the image formation. In contrast to the common square PCs in which the negative refraction effect occurs in the first photonic band without negative phase propagation, in our suggested model system, the frequency with negative refraction exists in the second band and in near-infrared region. In this case, the wave propagates with a negative phase velocity and the evanescent waves can be supported. We also discuss the dependency of the image resolution and its location on surface termination, source location, and slab thickness. According to the simulation results, spatial resolution of the proposed PC lens is below the radiation wavelength.

In a fixed AC power source the PWM techniques were used to vary the voltage and the fundamental frequency. The conventional PWM techniques due to the problem of commutation number and filter size have been studied the PWM output waveforms which applied the motor drive. However in this paper, the carrier frequency with sinusoidal PWM waveform is modulated from 10(KHz) to 45(KHz) using termination devices with high - speed switching capacity and applying LPF(Low Pass Filter) with small capacity to output of inverter and the PAM(Pulse Amplitude Modulation)is obtained. Considering the property of the speed and the control, the sinusoidal PWM control circuit was composed of the microprocessor and analog circuit. In experment result, the system properties are study on the sinusoidal voltage waveform with modulation index changing from 0.6 to 1.0.
Cosmic-ray protons (CRp) are efficiently produced at starburst galaxies (SBGs), where the star formation rate (SFR) rate is high. In this talk, we present estimates of gamma-ray and neutrino emissions from nearby SBGs, M82, NGC253, and Arp220. Inside the starburst nucleus (SBN), CRp are accelerated at supernova remnant (SNR) shocks as well as at stellar wind (SW) termination shocks, and their transport is governed by the advection due to starburst-driven wind and diffusion mediated by turbulence. We here model the momentum distributions of SNR and SW-produced CRp with single or a double power-law forms. We also employ two different diffusion models, where CRp are resonantly scattered off large-scale turbulence in SBN or self-excited waves driven by CR streaming instability. We then calculate gamma-ray/neutrino fluxes. The observed gamma-ray fluxes by Fermi-LAT, Veritas, and H.E.S.S are well reproduced with double power-law distribution for SNR-produced CRp and the CRp diffusion by self-excited turbulence. The estimated neutrino fluxes are <~10-3 of the atmospheric neutrino flux in the energy range of Eneutrino <~100 GeV and <~10-1 of the IceCube point source sensitivity in the energy range of Eneutrino >~60 TeV.
The dominant source of noise in a sea-connected piping system is usually due to a seawater cooling pump which circulates seawater to operate onboard equipments normally, and so its water-borne noise with some tonal frequencies should be reduced using proper silencers. In order to obtain the transmission loss of water-borne noise silencers experimentally the present paper suggests a transfer function technique that acoustic wave in the piping system is decomposed into its incident and transmitted components when the reflection at the termination of the system exists. Good agreement in the interested frequency range with theory and the proposed technique shows the validity of the technique.

We propose the asymmetric 2.5Gbps/622Mbps PON(Passive Optical Network) in order to reduce the bandwith of filter at receiver with inverse RZ(Return to Zero) code coded downstream and NRZ(Non Return to Zero) upstream re-modulation. I theoretically analyze BER(Bit Error Rate) performance and the power sensitivity with the optimal threshold level by performing simulation with MATLAB according to the types of downstream data. The results have shown that the optimal threshold level at the optical receiver could be saturated at 0.33 as the optical received power increase more than -26dBm to keep $10^{-12}$ of BER to a minimum. Also the power sensitivity is more improved by about 3dB by fixing the threshold level at 0.33 than the conventional receiver. The proposed system can be a useful technology for optical access networks with asymmetric upstream and downstream data rates because the optical receiver can be used without controlling threshold levels and that does not require a light source in optical network unit (ONU) and its control circuits in the optical line termination (OLT).
For playing a multimedia presentation in a Internet, the case that the presentation QoS(Quality of Services) at a destination nay be different from the QoS of multimedia data at the source occurs frequently. In this case, the process of trancoding the multimedia data at the source Into the multimedia data satisfying the QoS at the destination should be requited. In addition, even the presentation description having the homogeneous QoS at both sides may have different transcoding paths due to the limitation of display terminals or network bandwidth. That is, for a multimedia description, it is required to regenerate a proper transcoding path whenever the displaying terminals or the network environment gets decided. And the delay time required to go through the transcoding path may affect the playability of the give presentation. Therefore it should be checked whether the presentation requiring a transcoding process is able to be played in a real time. In this paper, the algorithm for generating all the possible transcoding paths for a given multimedia description under a fixed set of transcoders and the network environment is proposed. The algorithm adopts the concept of QoS transition diagram to Prevent from a trancoding Path being cycled by the repetition of a cyclic Path which generates the same QoS of multimedia data as its input QoS. By eliminating all the cyclic Paths, the algorithm can guarantee the termination of the process. And for the playability check, a method of computing the transcoding time and the delay lime between logical data units are proposed. Finally all the proposed methods were implemented in the stream engine, called TransCore and the presentation-authoring tool, called VIP, we had developed. And the test results with sample scenarios were presented at the last.
A study was conducted to investigate possibility of utilizing dried citrus peel (DCP) as an ingridient of broiler diets. Fresh citrus peels were collected from a citrus processing plant, and were sun-dried and ground. Both chemical analyses and a feeding trial were carried out. DCP was analyzed for proximate nutrients, amino acids and some minerals. In the feeding trial, a total of 192 day-old female broiler chicks of Manor strain was divided into 16 groups of 12 birds each. Each group was fed one of the 4 different levels(0, 2, 4 and 6%) of DCP replacing an equivalent amount of wheat bran in the diet with 4 replications for 6 weeks. Body weight gain, feed intake and feed efficiency of broilers fed different levels of DCP showed no significant differences among treatments. Immediately after termination of the feeding trial, cach bird was examined for shank color using Roche's Egg Yolk Color Fan. Shank color index of birds increased consistently (P<0.05) as the level of DCP fed increased, indicating that DCP can be used as a source of pigments. It was concluded from the results that DCP could be used up to 6% in place of wheat bran in broiler diets without adverse effects.
As the globalization of manufacturing companies continues, the scope of dependence between these companies and distributors, and other suppliers are growing very rapidly since no one company manufactures or distributes the whole product by themselves. And, the need to increase the efficiency of the whole supply chain is increasing. This paper deals with a multi-plant lot-sizing problem(MPLSP) which happens in a decentralized manufacturing system of a supply chain. In this study, we assume that the whole supply chain is driven by a single source of independent demand and many levels of dependent demands among manufacturing systems in the supply chain. We consider setup cost, transportation cost and time, and inventory holding cost as a decision factor in the MPLSP. The MPLSP is decomposed into two sub-problems: a planning problem of the whole supply chain and a lot-sizing problem of each manufacturing system. The supply chain planning problem becomes a pure linear programming problem and a Generalized Goal Decomposition method is used to solve the problem. Its result is used as a goal of the lot-sizing problem. The lot-sizing problem is solved using the CPLEX package, and then the coefficients of the planning problem are updated reflecting the lot-sizing solution. This procedure is repeated until termination criteria are met. The whole solution process is similar to Lagrangian relaxation method in the sense that the solutions are approaching the optimum in a recursive manner. Through experiments, the proposed closed-loop hierarchical planning and traditional hierarchical planning are compared to optimal solution, and it is shown that the proposed method is a very viable alternative for solving production planning problems of decentralized manufacturing systems and in other areas.
We propose an asymmetrical 2.5 Gbps / 622 Mbps bidirectional optical subscriber network with Manchester coded downstream and NRZ (Non-Return-to-Zero) upstream remodulation. The proposed system has important characteristics in the optical network unit (ONU): it does not require a light source or the usual control circuits such as wavelength control and output power control, and it is possible to use a synchronization scheme between upstream and downstream data. We theoretically analyze BER(Bit Error Rate) performance of upstream data remodulated with Manchester coded downstream according to the types of NRZ downstream data and perform simulations with MATLAB. The BER performance and the receiver sensitivity have been improved by 3 dB by adjusting threshold levels compared to the conventional receiver. The results have shown the remodulation scheme with Manchester coded downstream could be a useful technology for asynchronous and asymmetric optical subscriber networks with low cost and simple structures.
