In order to compute the radiated sound from a vibrating structure, the Rayleigh's integral equation has to be derived from the Helmholtz equation using Green's function. Generally, the surface velocity in the Rayleigh's integral equation uses the root mean square(rms) velocity. The calculation value is too large, because it's not considered cancelation. On the other hand. using the complex velocity, the sound pressure is calculated too small, because it considers that sound is perfectly canceled out. Therefore, this thesis proposes a correction factor(CF) which considers vibration modes and the method by which to calculate the radiating sound pressure. The theoretical results are compared with the experimental values, and the proposed method can be verified with confluence.
For a cylinder in a uniform flow stream, sound is generated by the fluctuating pressure on the cylinder surface due to the vortex shedding behind the cylinder. It is known that the major parameters to predict the sound pressure are the characteristic length of the flow along the cylinder axis and the fluctuating lift coefficient. These parameters strongly depend on the Reynolds number and the yaw angle of the cylinder to the free stream. In this experimental study the effects of yaw on the flow parameters, and consequently on the generated sound are investigated. The surface pressure and the radiated sound are measured simultaneously for different yaw angles and showed that the reduced normal velocity component to the cylinder axis reduces the unsteady lift fluctuation which results in lowered sound press-are level, However, experimental result shows that "the cosine law" which uses the normal velocity component as a characteristic velocity for noise Generation from a yawed cylinder needs to be carefully reviewed. reviewed.
It is suggested that the curvature trajectory be used to estimate the real-time moving sound sources and efficiently the robot estimating the sound sources. Since the target points of the real-time moving sound sources change, the mobile robot continuously estimates the changed target points. In such a case, the robot experiences a slip phenomenon due to the abnormal velocity and the changes of the navigating state. By selecting an appropriate curvature and navigating the robot gradually by using it, it is possible to enable the robot to reach the target points without having much trouble. In order to recognize the sound sources in real time, three microphones need to be organized in a straight form. Also, by applying the cross-correlation algorithm to the TDOA base, the signals can be analyzed. By using the analyzed data, the locations of the sound sources can be recognized. Based on such findings, the sound sources can be estimated. Even if the mobile robot is navigated by selecting the gradual curvature based on the changed target points, there could be errors caused by the inertia and the centrifugal force related to the velocity. As a result, it is possible to control the velocity of both wheels of the robot through the velocity PID controller in order to compensate for the slip phenomenon and minimize the estimated errors. In order to examine whether the suggested curvature trajectory is appropriate for estimating the sound sources, two mobile robots are arranged to carry out an actual experiment. The first robot is moved by discharging the sound sources, while the second robot recognizes and estimates the locations of the discharged sound sources in real time.
Acoustical properties of chestnut and paulownia woods have been determined in four film thicknesses of oriental lacquering and cashew varnishing on double surfaces of soundboard to elucidate effects of finishing. Accelerometer was attached to the specimen at one third position from one end, and specimen was hit by the impact hammer at one third position from opposite end. Data were processed by vibration analyzer. The ratio of axial-to-transverse sound velocity of untreated specimens of chestnut and paulownia were 3.25 and 5.34, respectively. Natural frequency, specific Young's modulus, acoustical coefficient, sound velocity, damping of sound radiation(DSR) and acoustical converting efficiency(ACE) decreased by oriental lacquering and cashew varnishing for both species. Damping of internal friction of chestnut decreased by oriental lacquering and cashew varnishing, but that of paulownia increased. Natural frequency. specific Young's modulus, acoustical coefficient, sound velocity, and DSR decreased with increased film thickness of both finishing materials. However, damping of internal friction and ACE showed irregular tendency with increased film thickness. Acoustical properties of cashew varnished chestnut specimen were better than those of oriental lacquered specimen. Acoustical properties of oriental lacquered paulownia specimen were better than those of cashew varnished specimen.
This paper investigates the filtered velocity feedback(FVF) controller for the reduction of the acoustic power radiated from a clamped beam. The instability problem due to the non-collocated sensor/actuator configuration when using PZT actuator should be sorted out. The roll-off property of the FVF controller at high frequency helps to alleviate the instability. The dynamics of clamped beams under forces and moments pair and the FVF controller are first formulated. The formulation of the sound radiated power is followed. The open loop transfer function(OLTF) synthesized with 100 modes is used to determine the stability of the control system. The control performance is finally estimated. The levels of the vibration and the sound radiated power are reduced in the wide bandbelow the tuning mode of the FVF controller.

The Brillouin spectrum of 4'-n-pentyl-4-cyano-biphenyl (5CB) liquid crystals homogeneously confined in a planar liquid crystal (LC) cell was measured using a 6-pass tandem Fabry-Perot interferometer. By adopting a special right-angle scattering geometry, the sound velocity of 5CB was estimated from the Brillouin shift without knowing the refractive index. The sound velocity of the longitudinal wave propagating along the direction of the directors aligned parallel to the glass plates of the LC cell was 1784${\pm}$7 m/s at 300 K. The attenuation coefficient $\alpha$ was estimated to be approximately $1.9{\times}10^6m^{-1}$, which is about twice as large as that of the longitudinal sound wave propagating along the direction perpendicular to the directors. The present method may be very useful in the evaluation of the elastic properties of the materials used in display devices, whose refractive indices are not known.
We introduce a new velocity sensor, micro-flown sensor, which was developed by H-E de Bree. The sound absorption coefficients of a fiber material with the conventional pressure microphones and the micro-flown sensors were measured and compared. The experimental results show that both sensors could be well applied to measure the sound absorption coefficient but the pressure sensor was rather stable than micro-flown sensor

Frictional sound is observed in great many practical systems, but its generation mechanism is still unknown Model systems are best suited for research on the fundamental mechanisms, but results cannot be easily applied to real systems, because each system has different sound radiation properties. At present, there is no easy method for evaluation of these properties. We propose to describe the sound radiation property of a tribo-system by the relationship between friction-induced sound power and the friction-induced vibration velocity of the contact element. It was found that the sound power of a tribo-system is linearly proportional to the mean-square velocity of the sliding element by a constant coefficient having the dimension of mass flow rate (kg/s).
