  • Recently, the use of the internet and the web becomes universal. So, many internet applications are made by educators. In this paper, contents about the electromagnetics course which is one of the basic subjects for electrical and electronic fields are dealt. Most textbooks concerned this topic describes the phenomena in mathematical formulas. Naturally, for the students, the understanding of the phenomena is not so easy. For the improvement the educational efficiency, the multimedia techniques such as HTML, pictures, animations and sound are utilized. And also the software developed by authors is available for the analysis or the exercise of various electromagnetic problems. The contents are composed 4 parts : electrostatic fields, magnetostatic fields, time varying fields propagation of waves.

Development of Lightweight Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC) Stack Using Metallic Bipolar Plates for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) (금속분리판을 이용한 무인기항공기(UAV)용 경량화 DMFC 스택 개발)

  • A 900 W scale direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) stack is designed and fabricated for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) applications. To meet the volume and weight requirements, metallic bipolar plates are applied to the DMFC stack for the first time wherein POS470FC was chosen as bipolar plate material. To ensure good robustness of the metallic bipolar plate based DMFC stack, finite element method based simulations are conducted using a commercial ANSYS Fluent software. The stress buildup and deformation characteristics on bipolar plates and end plates are analyzed in details. The present DMFC stack exhibits the performance of 1,130 W at 32 V and 35.3 A, clearly demonstrating that it could successfully operate for UAVs requiring around 1,000 W of power.

  • This paper presents the developing results of improved distribution automation system including system configuration and subsystem design, prototype hardware and software implementation, and pilot tests on the real distribution networks of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO). An integrated system is designed to combine independent system for the distribution field works with DAS; transformer monitoring, power quality monitoring, voltage monitoring, outage monitoring, etc. The communication network is hierarchically configured as main network and branch network and well-defined integrated terminal units were developed. In addition, useful host configuration and applications were developed to integrate the services with DAS or interfacing other systems. Pilot tests were performed to verify that the system enables to properly integrate the DAS and other services of the distribution network.

  • The objective of this paper describes the design of MapReduce over Peer-to-Peer network for dynamic environments applications. MapReduce is a software framework used for Cloud Computing which processing large data sets in a highly-parallel way. Based on the Peer-to-Peer network character which node failures will happen anytime, we focus on using a DHT routing protocol which named Pastry to handle the problem of node failures. Our results are very promising and indicate that the framework could have a wide application in P2P network systems while maintaining good computational efficiency and scalability. We believe that, P2P networks and parallel computing emerge as very hot research and development topics in industry and academia for many years to come.

  • Distributed control system architecture is adopted for I&C systems of Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor, where the geographically distributed control systems are connected to centralized servers & display stations via switched Ethernet networks. TCP/IP communication plays a significant role in the successful operations of this architecture. The communication tasks at control nodes are taken care by TCP/IP offload modules; local area switched network is realized using layer-2/3 switches, which are finally connected to network interfaces of centralized servers & display stations. Safety, security, reliability, and fault tolerance of control systems used for safety-related applications of nuclear power plants is ensured by indigenous design and qualification as per guidelines laid down by regulatory authorities. In the case of commercially available components, appropriate suitability analysis is required for getting the operation clearances from regulatory authorities. This paper details the proposed approach for the suitability analysis of TCP/IP communication nodes, including control systems at the field, network switches, and servers/display stations. Development of test platform using commercially available tools and diagnostics software engineered for control nodes/display stations are described. Each TCP link behavior with impaired packets and multiple traffic loads is described, followed by benchmarking of the network switch's routing characteristics and security features.

  • The introduction of cone-beam computed tomography(CBCT) and computer software in orthodontics has allowed orthodontists to provide more accurate diagnosis and treatment. The most common use of CBCT imaging allows orthodontists to visualize the precise position of supernumerary or impacted teeth, especially impacted canines. In doing so, the exact angulation of impaction and proximity of adjacent roots can be evaluated by orthodontists, allowing them to choose vector forces for tooth movement while minimizing root resorption. Even though 2-dimensional panoramic images can be used to view the position of the impacted canines, they have limitations because it is not possible to evaluate the impacted tooth position 3-dimensionally. An accurate knowledge of root position improves the determination of success in orthodontic treatment. Nowadays, considering the fast pace of technological development, a combination of intraoral scanning, digital setups, custommade brackets and wires, and indirect bonding may soon become the orthodontic standard. In this paper, this will be discussed along with the digital models.

Integrated Navigation of the Mobile Service Robot in Office Environments

  • This paper describes an integrated navigation strategy for the autonomous service robot PSR. The PSR is under development at the KIST for service tasks in indoor public environments. The PSR is a multi-functional mobile-manipulator typed agent, which works in daily life. Major advantages of proposed navigation are as follows: 1) Structured control architecture for a systematic integration of various software modules. A Petri net based configuration design enables stable control flow of a robot. 2) A range sensor based generalized scheme of navigation. Any range sensor can be selectively applied using the proposed navigation scheme. 3) No need for modification of environments. (No use of artificial landmarks.) 4) Hybrid approaches combining reactive behavior as well as deliberative planner, and local grid maps as well as global topological maps. A presented experimental result shows that the proposed navigation scheme is useful for mobile service robot in practical applications.

Development for Java/RTI Test Suite (Java/RTI를 위한 Test Suite 개발)

  • The HLA is defined by three components: (1) Rules, (2) the HLA Interface Specification, and (3) the Object Model Template(OMT). The RTI(Run-Time Infrastructure) software implements the interface specification. It provides services in a manner that is comparable to the way a distributed operating system provides services to applications. A way to test whether is suitable for a standard, and all service was implemented is tested through two phases of processes to verify the RTI which proposed in DMSO. In this paper, we discuss Level One Test Procedures and a method. Confirms whether RTI was implemented in Interface Specification according to Level One Test Procedures appropriately through a test. Develops Test Suite for every each step to test whether a correct command and the expected results are occur.

  • According to rapid growth of a web environment, usage-centered design is being highlighted. This paper suggests the development step and algorithm to generate a user interface prototype automatically on the basis of usage-centered design. For this purpose, The transition object of the user interface is modeled from requirement analysis, and an modeling rule as well as algorithms of business events are made for the creation of the user interface. Through these processes, visual cohesions of business events become strong and unskilled designers can develop the qualified user interface prototypes. A user's understanding of business tasks can also be improved and prototype iterations reduced.
