In order to study heat transfer characteristics of spray cooling for the purpose of uniform and soft cooling of high temperature surface a series of experiments for a hot horizontal copper flat plate was performed by downflow spray water using flat spray nozzle. Cooling curves were mea-sured under the various experimental conditions of flow rates and temperatures of cooling water Surface temperature surface heat fluxes and heat transfer coefficients of horizontal upward-facing flat surface were calculated with cooling curves measured at each radial positions near the cooling surface by TDMA method. Generally heat transfer characteristics for spray cooling is simi-lar to boiling phenomenon of pool boiling. The minimum heat flux(MHF) appear at the surface temperature of about ${\Delta}Tsat=250^{\circ}C$ and the critical heat flux(CHF) appear at about ${\Delta}Tsat=250^{\circ}C$.

This paper utilizes free oscillation and energy injection principles to generate and control the high frequency current in the primary track of a contactless power transfer system. Here the primary power inverter maintains natural resonance while ensuring near constant current magnitude in the primary track as required for multiple independent loads. Such energy injection controllers exhibit low switching frequency and achieve ZCS (Zero Current Switching) by detecting the high frequency current, thus the switching stress, power losses and EMI of the inverter are low. An example full bridge topology is investigated for a contactless power transfer system with multiple pickups. Theoretical analysis, simulation and experimental results show that the proposed system has a fast and smooth start-up transient response. The output track current is fully controllable with a sufficiently good waveform for contactless power transfer applications.
The lower extremity injuries are extremely increasing with the development of industrial & transportational technology. For the lower extremity injuries that result from high-energy forces, particularly those in which soft tissue and large segments of bone have been destroyed and there is some degree of vascular compromise, the problems in reconstruction are major and more complex. In such cases local muscle coverage is probably unsuccessful, because adjacent muscles are destroyed much more than one can initially expect. Reconstruction of the lower extremity has been planned by dividing the lower leg into three parts traditionally The flaps available in each of the three parts are gastrocnemius flap for proximal one third, soleus flap for middle one third and free flap transfer for lower one third. Microvascular surgery can provide the necessary soft tissue coverage from the remote donnor area by free flap transfer into the defect. Correct selection of the appropriate recipient vessels is difficult and remains the most important factor in successful free flap transfer. Vascular anastomosis to recipient vessels distal to the zone of injury has been advocated and retrograde flow flaps are well established in island flaps. Retrograde flow anastomosis could not interrupt the major blood vessels which were essential for survival of the distal limb, the compromise of fracture or wound healing might be prevented. During 5 years, from March 1993 to Feb. 1998, we have done 68 free flap transfers in 61 patients to reconstruct the lower extremity. From analysis of the cases, we concluded that for the reconstruction of the lower extremity, free flap transfer yields a more esthetic and functional results.

A road energy harvester was designed and fabricated to convert mechanical energy from the vehicle load to electrical energy. The road energy harvester is composed of 16 piezoelectric cantilevers. We fabricated prototypes using a vehicle load transfer mechanism. Applying a vehicle load transfer mechanism rather than directly installing energy harvesters under roads decreases the area of road construction and allows more energy harvesters to be installed on the side of the road. The power generation amount with respect to the vehicular velocity change was assessed by installing the vehicle load transfer mechanism form and underground form. The energy harvester installed in the underground form generated power of 4.52 mJ at the vehicular velocity of 50 km/h. Also, power generation of the energy harvester installed in the vehicle load transfer mechanism form was 48.65 mJ at the vehicular velocity of 50 km/h.
In this study, the analysis of load transition of PHC pile was performed with the static load test, which was driven in deep soft clay layer of MyungJi site in the western area of Pusan. The results of test showed that the range of unit side resistance of pile in sand layer were $7.4t/m^2$ to $23.3t/m^2$ and $6.4t/m^2$ in the soft clay layer, while the unit base resistance was $955t/m^2$ in dense silty sand layer. To select the most reasonable static bearing capacity formular, the field measured values are compared with the calculated ones from the suggested various formular. In the case of side resistance in sand layer, the suggest formular in the Structural Foundation Design Manual by KGS was most reasonable, while in clay layer Railroad Design Manual.

For analyze of the bearing capacity, skin friction and settlements of pile on axial compressive loading, both Load transfer tests of pile and pile loading test in field have application to commonly before pile installing. A bearing capacity of pile was affected by the characteristics of surrounding ground of pile. Especially, that is very different because of evaluation of settlement due to each soil conditions of ground depths. The ground characteristics using evaluation of bearing capacity of pile through load transfer analysis depends on N values of SPT, and then a bearing capacity of pile installed soft ground and refilled area may be difficult to rational evaluation. An evaluation of bearing capacity on pile applied axial compressive loading was effected by strength of ground installed pile, unconfined compressive strength at pile tip, pile diameter, rough of excavated surface, confining pressure and deformation modules of rock etc and these are commonly including the unreliability due to slime occurred excavation works. Load transfer characteristics considered ground conditions take charge of load transfer of large diameter pile was investigated through case study applied load transfer tests. To these, matrix analytical technique of load transfer using finite differential equation developed and compared with the results of pile load test.

This paper proposes a new soft-switched Sepic converter. It has low switching losses and low conduction losses due to its auxiliary communicated circuit and synchronous rectifier operation, respectively. Because of its positive and buck/boost-like DC voltage transfer function (M=D/(1-D)), the proposed converter is desirable for use in distributed power systems. The proposed converter has versions both with and without a transformer. The paper also suggests some design guidelines in terms of the power circuit and the control loop for the proposed converter.
We have investigated the clinical results of 33 cases of free flap transfer performed for the soft tissue defects of heel and sole. In donor sites, tensor fascia lata flaps were 4, dorsalis pedis flaps were 10, forearm flaps were 9, and latissimus dorsi flaps were 10. The recipient sites were heel in 22 cases, sole in 7 cases, and heel and sole in 4 cases. In these cases, the postoperative complications, morbidity of donor sites, recovery of sensation, and cosmetic results were evaluated in each flap. All the flaps survived successfully. The free flaps provided excellent functional and cosmetic results. The tensor fascia lata flap was more reliable free flap for the reconstruction of heel and sole defects.

A soft-lithographic top-down approach is combined with an epitaxial layer transfer process to fabricate high quality III-V compound semiconductor nanowires (NWs) and integrate them on Si/SiO2 substrates, using MBE-grown ultrathin InAs as a source wafer. The channel width of the InAs nanowires is controlled by using solvent-assisted nanoscale embossing (SANE), descumming, and etching processes. By optimizing these processes, the NW width is scaled to less than 50 nm, and the InAs NWFETs has ${\sim}1,600cm^2/Vs$ peak electron mobility, which indicates no mobility degradation due to the size.
Construction of high-speed concrete track embankments over soft ground needs many of the ground improvement techniques. Drains, surcharge loading, and geosynthetic reinforcement, have all been used to solve the settlement and embankment stability issues associated with construction on soft soils. However, when time constraints are critical to the success of the project, another measures should be considered. Especially, since the design criteria of residual settlement is limited as 30mm for concrete track embankment, it is very difficult to satisfy this allowable settlement by using the former construction method. Pile net method consist of vertical columns that are designed to transfer the load of the embankment through the soft compressible soil layer to a firm foundation and one or more layers of geosynthetic reinforcement placed between the top of the columns and the bottom of the embankment. In this paper, three cases with different embankment height and number of geosynthetic reinforcement, were studied through FEM analysis for efficient use of pile net method.
