  • The semantic web-based social network is highly useful in a variety of areas. In this paper we make diverse analyses of the FOAF-based social network, and propose an expert recommendation system. This system presents useful method of ontology-based social network using SparQL, RDFS inference, and visualization tools. Then we apply it to real social network in order to make various analyses of centrality, small world, scale free, etc. Moreover, our system suggests method for analysis of an expert on specific field. We expect such method to be utilized in multifarious areas - marketing, group administration, knowledge management system, and so on.

  • Interests on collaborative research and academic relationship among researchers have been increased. Collaborative researchers can maximize productivity, time and cost savings, and reduce the risk of research. An empirical study on the research productivity of co-authors' network and review efficiency of the reviewer network was conducted based on co-author networks and reviewer networks in Korea Society of IT Service. This study aims to find the characteristics of the co-author and reviewer networks, and to analyze research productivity and review efficiency in order to draw some implications. The meaning of interactions among professional groups was analyzed. Research productivity index was calculated using 728 authors' papers submitted to the society. In order to verify the effects of indicators of social network analysis on research productivity and review efficiency, correlation and regression analyses were used. As a result, the indicators of network centrality did not affect the review efficiency, but affect the research productivity.

  • Business diversification is inevitable to survive under the current competitive business environments. The advent of new businesses makes corporate governance more complicated through corporate combinations. Recent introduction of new accounting standard, International Financial Reporting Standards(IFRS), accelerates the need for corporate governance analysis. This study analyses the complex corporate governance system and its relation to the business performance using social network analysis. Corporate inter-governance networks can be visualized easily in a social network diagram. 552 corporate governance data are empirically analysed in the Korean stock market. The changes in In-Degree between networks are positively related with the changes in corporate sales volume. We can find the same results using operating profits as corporate performance proxy. The results show that social network analysis technique can be applied to investments in the stock markets.

  • In this paper we used classification algorithms on social networking. We are proposing, a new classification algorithm called the improved Decision Tree (IDT). Our model provides better classification accuracy than the existing systems for classifying the social network data. Here we examined the performance of some familiar classification algorithms regarding their accuracy with our proposed algorithm. We used Support Vector Machines, Naïve Bayes, k-Nearest Neighbors, decision tree in our research and performed analyses on social media dataset. Matlab is used for performing experiments. The result shows that the proposed algorithm achieves the best results with an accuracy of 84.66%.

To better understand the effects of social support on the perceived life satisfaction of middle-aged wives this study considered the following four different types of social support: emotional material informational and companionshp support. In addition each type of social support from the following five sources-the family of origin network the family of husband network friends neighbors and social organization-were examined separately in relation to the perceived life satisfaction of middle-aged wives. The data for his study were collected in the winter of 1995 from 417 housewives in Pusam wholse youngest child has graduated from elementary schools. Analyses of these data proved that (1) contrary to the classical "middle-age cristis" theory the average level of the perceived life satisfaction of middle-aged wives is relatively high; (2) there is a strong positive correla ion between the global level of social support and the overall life satisfaction of middle-aged wives; (3) the family of origin network is the most important provider of social support to middle-aged wives; and (4) the effects of social support on the perceived life satisfaction of middle-aged wives differ across types and sources of support. Findings showed that emotional informational and companionship support from the family of origin network have significantly positive effects on the perceived life satisfaction of middle-aged wives. On he other hand the material support from the family of origin network proved to have little effect.le effect.

  • This study conducts to examine the effect of purchase intention on social shopping by connection density and centrality which is a structural characteristic of social network. Furthermore, this study suggests and analyses the difference of social shopping purchase intention between online community which focuses on a group and SNS(social network service) which focuses on an individual. To examine these reason, this study proposes hypotheses that reflects structural characteristic then analyses them. The result of analysis shows that the purchase intention on social shopping seems to be high when the density of connection is high and the purchase intention seems to be high when the centrality is high as well. Moreover, there is difference in the purchase intention on social shopping between online community and SNS and it is found that both cases where the connection density is high in the online community and the connection centrality is high in SNS have significant impact on the purchase intention. Based on these results, this study provides an implication on the importance on network structure in social network and social shopping and to increase the purchase intention of social shopping, this study suggests the implication on the importance and direction which understands the structure of social network type.

  • Social Network has common functions such as acting as primary platforms smoothing the sharing and distribution by combination with various contents. Hence, questionnaire has been conducted to users of all of Twitter, Facebook and KakaoStory, and the factors affected by each service are presented by statistical analyses of the survey and the results are resolved by dividing them into complete and instrumental social capital. This study will be able to provide a standard for users to select Social Network according to their purposes and contribute to development of new Social Network or improvement of existing ones.

  • The study is to investigate which features are perceived by Social Network Service(SNS) users as the most required one to further boost the usage of service, and to examine the perception of these features of SNS sites varies according to their demographic and service usage characteristics. The study also is to suggest a few of research propositions on the relationships between required features of SNS sites and characteristics of SNS users, based on statistical analyses. To accomplish these research purposes, the study defined characteristics of SNS users including demographic(gender, age) and service usage one(start time of service usage, service usage place), and required features of SNS sites(system, service, information, emotion) based on the literature review of SNS. The results show, based on the statistical analyses using survey questionnaire on Korean and Chinese SNS users, that there are differences in perception of required features of SNS sites among the respondents grouped by age, start time of service usage, service usage place. Finally, the study proposed three research propositions, based on the analysis result, that could be used in SNS related researches in the future.

  • This research paper is focused on a theoretical study of the influences the structural factors and social capital within an industrial cluster have on innovative performance, and expanding the understanding of the influence through positive analyses based on public surveys. The study adopts a concept of social capital that can formulate a social relationship, and maintains that the social capital either works as a mediator for structural factors or independently exerts strong influences on innovative performance. In the research, the social capital is divided into two categories, bonding social capital and bridging social capital, and their influences are analyzed separately. The result of the analyses shows that unlike the traditional perception based on Korea's unique culture, the influence of bridging social capital is stronger than that of bonding social capital. It is also found that the structural factors exert influence by themselves on the contrary the previous study, simultaneously they still have influence upon innovative performance through bridging social capital calculated via the elements such as secondary relationships, network activity support and organizational openness.

  • This study examines how different uses of social network sites (SNS) and mobile phones (MP) to communicate with friends and business associates are related to the acquisition of job-related information, job mobility, and entrepreneurial intentions, using social capital as its main theoretical lens. To this end, a nationally representative, random digit dialing (RDD) survey was conducted in Singapore. Path analyses show that SNS interactions with friends are positively related to both bonding and bridging social capital. The former is linked with greater job mobility, the latter with entrepreneurship, and both are associated with more job-related information. SNS interactions with business contacts are directly positively related to job-related information and entrepreneurship. For mobile phones, interactions with friends are positively related to social capital, job information and entrepreneurship. Professional networking is associated with more bridging social capital, job information and job mobility. Bonding capital is found to be linked with greater job mobility, while bridging capital has a positive relationship with both entrepreneurship and job mobility.
