In this study, we set up perennial and sub-practical problems and selected content elements. The contents system of the developed curriculum was modified and supplemented by examining the validity of experts, and the achievement standard of the middle school home economics dietary education curriculum was developed by integrating the three systems of action. The content system of the elementary, and secondary school home economics curriculum that integrated the three systems of action is centered on practical problems, and the perennial problem is 'What should we do to practice healthy dietary life?' There are five areas of this curriculum: 'health and diet', 'food planning', 'food purchase and management', 'cooking', and 'meal', and the scope of curriculum is repeatedly expanded to 'personal and family', and 'social'. The practical problems in the five areas are composed of 10 practical problems in the two dimensions (personal & family, and society), and the practical problems and contents elements are spiralled by applying the principle of integration. The contents of this curriculum were compared with the achievement standards and learning elements of the dietary life in the 2015 elementary school practical arts, middle and high school 'technology & home economics', and the 'home economics science' curriculum. The results showed that the developed curriculum encompassed additional content beyond all the content already included in the 2015 revised curriculum.

  • This study analyzed 3,114 articles published in KCI journals and 1,636 articles published in SSCI journals from 2000 to 2019 in order to compare domestic and international research trends of mathematics education using a topic modeling method. Results indicated that there were 16 similar research topics in domestic and international mathematics education journals: algebra/algebraic thinking, fraction, function/representation, statistics, geometry, problem-solving, model/modeling, proof, achievement effect/difference, affective factor, preservice teacher, teaching practice, textbook/curriculum, task analysis, assessment, and theory. Also, there were 7 distinct research topics in domestic and international mathematics education journals. Topics such as affective/cognitive domain and research trends, mathematics concept, class activity, number/operation, creativity/STEAM, proportional reasoning, and college/technology were identified from the domestic journals, whereas discourse/interaction, professional development, identity/equity, child thinking, semiotics/embodied cognition, intervention effect, and design/technology were the topics identified from the international journals. The topic related to preservice teacher was the most frequently addressed topic in both domestic and international research. The topic related to in-service teachers' professional development was the second most popular topic in international research, whereas it was not identified in domestic research. Domestic research in mathematics education tended to pay attention to the topics concerned with the mathematical competency, but it focused more on problem-solving and creativity/STEAM than other mathematical competencies. Rather, international research highlighted the topic related to equity and social justice.

  • Social changes have added to new challenges to adult literacy policies in Korea. These changes not only require most adults to improve their literacy skills, but also require them to learn new competencies. In this context, this study aims to examine whether the Korean literacy policy has properly responded to the new literacy needs. For this purpose, this study not only aims to examine the adult literacy policies of UK and Australia, but also plans to suggest implications for the Korean government. The findings of the study are as follow. Both UK and Australian governments have developed literacy education funding programs, performance management system, and professional development program for literacy educators, all of which are needed for the provision of high quality adult literacy programs. The Korean government has also implemented the similar system since it formulated the adult literacy policy in 2006. However, there are significant differences between the Korean case and those of Australia and UK. Where both UK and Australia governments target every adult who has needs for literacy education, the Korean government only targets the poorly-educated elderly. Accordingly, the Korean government has failed to accommodate various literacy needs of adults. As a way of addressing the limitations of the Korean policy, the government should innovate the adult literacy policy in a way that it helps every adult develop knowledge and skills at anytime and anywhere.

  • Laws, administrative rules, and task manuals have been revised to build a modern river maintenance system in Korea for the last decade. And various researches and technology developments have been carried out to resolve related issues. However, the recent enactment of the new Act and the catastrophe of flood damage in 2020 have accelerated more emphasis on the reorganization and reinforcement of the river maintenance system in terms of political and social aspects. In this study, we suggested promising directions for strengthening the technical and institutional competencies of river maintenance with respect to policy, R&D, planning, and technology. The open discussion was held with the participation of industry, academia, research institutes, and government officials, and all participants conducted the related survey to collect their opinions effectively. These results are expected to be used as a reference to secure the justification for integration of government organizations, planning of R&D, the introduction of new river maintenance, and related technology development when reestablishing and reinforcing the river management system in the future.
