  • This study conducts to examine the effect of purchase intention on social shopping by connection density and centrality which is a structural characteristic of social network. Furthermore, this study suggests and analyses the difference of social shopping purchase intention between online community which focuses on a group and SNS(social network service) which focuses on an individual. To examine these reason, this study proposes hypotheses that reflects structural characteristic then analyses them. The result of analysis shows that the purchase intention on social shopping seems to be high when the density of connection is high and the purchase intention seems to be high when the centrality is high as well. Moreover, there is difference in the purchase intention on social shopping between online community and SNS and it is found that both cases where the connection density is high in the online community and the connection centrality is high in SNS have significant impact on the purchase intention. Based on these results, this study provides an implication on the importance on network structure in social network and social shopping and to increase the purchase intention of social shopping, this study suggests the implication on the importance and direction which understands the structure of social network type.

  • Incheon port attained two million TEU of container throughput between 2013 and 2014 as a third port in domestic container throughput. It opened a new port in Song-do, Incheon in June 2015 to prepare for the continuing increase in container throughput. Therefore, it has provided the platform for being the major container port domestically and internationally. As the role of the new port increases, the role and direction of the Incheon port liner service network attracts attention. This study analyzes the centrality of the Incheon port liner service network by using SNA (Social Network Analysis), which was introduced in the maritime economics area recently, focusing on the Incheon port liner service network. We recognize the degree centrality, closeness centrality, and betweenness centrality of each port and its effect on the Incheon port liner service network. The study showed that for Incheon port, the centrality of the Busan port in Korea, and the Hong Kong port, is high outside the country. This helps us determine that the hub of the Incheon port is neither Shanghai nor Singapore, which ranks first and second, respectively, on container throughput. It is also helps us to know that eastern China's ports have not played a role of the hub of the Incheon port until now because of the relatively low centrality of eastern China's ports.

  • This study tried to analyze the keywords of the papers published in the Korea Safety Management Science by using the social network analysis. In order to extract the keywords, information on journal articles published from 2018 to 2021 was extracted from the SCIENCE ON. Among the keywords extracted from a total of 129 papers, the keywords with similar meanings were standardized. The keywords used in the same paper were visualized by connecting them through a network. Four centrality indicators of the social network analysis were used to analyze the effect of the keyword. Safety, Safety management, Apartment, Fire hose, SMEs, Virtual reality, Machine learning, Waterproof time, R&D capability, and Job crafting were selected as the keywords analyzed with high influence in the four centrality indicators.

  • This study examines the influence of the betweenness centrality on tertius gaudens orientation, relationship commitment, and individual learning performance within the university environment. The betweenness centrality explored the antecedent factor of tertius gaudens orientation. The relationship commitment explored the consequence factor of tertius gaudens orientation, and the learning performance explored the consequence factor of the relationship commitment. This survey was carried out by university students. Data were obtained from 74 respondents who have been studying tourism data analytics at one of the leading universities, in Seoul, Korea. In order to validate the research model, social network analysis tool, UCINET 6.689, and a structural equation modeling tool, SmartPLS 3.3.2, were used. The empirical result showed that all antecedent factors (betweenness centrality position, tertius gaudens orientation, and relationship commitment) of the learning performance were significant. In conclusion, this study discusses the research findings and implications. Then the limitations and future directions of the study were suggested.

  • The cruise industry in the Mediterranean region increased from 2000-2018, being the second most important region after the Caribbean. The purpose of this study was to analyze the networks and hub ports of the Mediterranean. This paper used the SNA (Social Network Analysis) methodology, which includes Hub and Authority Combined Centrality (HACC) that has been used to analyze cruise port centrality, as well as degree centrality such as In-Degree, Out-Degree, and Betweenness. This empirical study suggests that the top three ports of the Mediterranean ports' network in terms of hub index are Barcelona, Civitavecchia, and Palma de Mallorca. The academic implications are the suggestion for data integration based on real itineraries and numbers of POC (Port of Calls), as well as the selection of the hubs of the targeted areas. The practical implications are suggested such as a clear requirement for cruise industry, as a way to widen the scope for the Mediterranean region and a valuable reference for cruise ship companies to select the best fit home ports.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the centrality and the research performance by conducting the social network analysis for the social science journal in the last 10 years. As a result of the relationship analysis, the correlation between centrality and research productivity was highly correlated in most groups, but the impact factor and frequency of citations were not significant. In relation with the comprehensive research such as a H-index, middle productive group correlation was more significant than the upper productive group.

  • Diffusion of innovation is the process in which an innovation is communicated through certain channels over time among the members of a social system. The literatures have emphasized the importance of interpersonal network influences on individuals in convincing them to adopt innovations and thereby promoting its diffusion. In particular, the behavior of opinion leaders who lead in influencing others' opinion is important in determining the rate of adoption of innovation in a system. Centrality has been recognized as a good indicator that quantifies a node's influences on others in a given network. However, recent studies have questioned its relevance on various different types of diffusion processes. In this regard, this study aims at examining the effect of a node exhibiting high centrality on expediting diffusion of innovations. In particular, we considered the situation where two innovations compete with each other to be adopted by potential adopters who are personally connected with each other. In order to analyze this competitive diffusion process, we developed a simulation model and conducted regression analyses on the outcomes of the simulations performed. The results suggest that the effect of a node with high centrality can be substantially reduced depending upon the type of a network structure or the adoption thresholds of potential adopters in a network.

  • As development of exhibition, it has been an important issue to analyze exhibition for the next success of exhibition. A lot of existing researches have focused on the exhibitor's and visitor's satisfaction problem. However, the exhibitor's satisfaction and success of exhibition come from the analysis of exhibition in the network level. Booths composing exhibition are regarded as nodes in network, so the trace of visitors visiting booths can construct the arc of networks. The purpose of this study is to analyze the booth visiting pattern and components of network through social network analysis using data collected in the $17^{th}$ International KIDS & EDU EXPO for Children. This research is the first approach of network-leveled analysis of exhibition, and the result of network analysis is helpful to support the booth arrangement in next exhibition. Our analysis results the following implications. First, Booths with high degree centrality or betweenness centrality should be deployed in the wide space or corner of the exhibition hall. Finally, booths within a block should be deployed in the same space of the exhibition hall to provide convenience to the visitors and to enhance exhibition performance.

  • Existing researches on movie genre have been focusing on the relationship between a specific genre and performance of a movie. However, most of films cross into multiple genres and new approach is needed for analyzing a genre network. In this study social network analysis was used to analyze the genre centrality and its relationship with movie performance by developing a genre network, i.e. network among multiple genres constructed via genre co-occurrence pattern in a specific movie. Three index of genre centrality, eigenvector centrality, degree centrality, and bonacich power centrality, were tested for the valued genre network. Results showed that the relationship between genre centrality and movie performance appeared to be inverted U-shaped. This empirical finding is in line with the theory of ambidexterity which emphasizes the balance of exploration and exploitation. In addition, this study can provide practical implications for movie producers, distributors, and theaters that need to develop genre strategies.
