  • Soccer is type of sport that carries a high risk of injury. Injury is not only cause in the unlucky soccer carrier and also team performance as well as financial effects can be worse since soccer is a team-based game. The duration of recovery from a soccer injury typically relies on its type and severity. Therefore, we conduct this research in order to predict the probability of players injury type using machine learning technologies in this paper. Furthermore, we compare different machine learning models to find the best fit model. This paper utilizes various supervised classification machine learning models, including Decision Tree, Random Forest, K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), and Naive Bayes. Moreover, based on our finding the KNN and Decision models achieved the highest accuracy rates at 70%, surpassing other models. The Random Forest model followed closely with an accuracy score of 62%. Among the evaluated models, the Naive Bayes model demonstrated the lowest accuracy at 56%. We gathered information about 54 professional soccer players who are playing in the top five European leagues based on their career history. • This study was done to investigate the use of nutritional supplements (NS) in Korean elite soccer players using an anonymous questionnaire. NS were classified into health supplements, manufactured health food supplements, chinese medicines & tonic foods, and nutrient supplements. Information was sought on the type of NS and factors that might influence supplement use including selected demographic parameters and health related variables. The data were collected from 241 athletes (aged $24.6{\pm}3.8$ years) in 9 professional soccer club. The prevalence of NS use among the subjects was 81.3%. Health supplements were used most frequently and nutrient supplement drug was the second one. Among the health supplements, weight/muscle gainer and calorie replacement product were most frequently used. Vitamin supplements were most frequently used among all nutrient supplement drugs. Users of NS were higher age (p<0.05) duration of exercise (p<0.05), and income (p<0.05) than non-users. The married (p<0.05) and a member of K-league (p<0.01) tended to have higher prevalence of NS use. The main adviser of NS were family (55.3%) and oneself (39%) instead of coach or sports nutritionist. Although NS use, only 26.2% certainly check up nutritional information on their used NS. Among the subjects, 84.5% of them felt that NS use were improved athletic performance, and 86.5% of them will to keep on taking supplement. These data suggest that a large number of elite soccer players use NS and these players may require education about healthy nutritional supplement practice and on the proper use of nutritional supplements.

  • The purposes of this study were to reveal the kinematic and kinetic difference of hard ground soccer shoe, firm ground soccer shoe and soft ground soccer shoe. Soccer players were shoes of varying stud designs with some preferring the bladed studs while others opting for the conventional studded stud. Statistics were used one way-ANOVA and Tukey's Honestly Significant Difference Method. Seven healthy college soccer players were attended a test. All parameters were recorded using the Zebris system. Spatio-temporal variables were no significant difference. Lateral symmetry was statistically significant differences (p<.05). Vertical GRF parameters were no significant difference. Medial midfoot pressure, lateral midfoot pressure and central forefoot pressure were statistically significant differences (p<.05). This study demonstrates that playing surface significantly affects difference soccer shoes during soccer game. Furthermore, epidemiological investigation is warranted to determine the effects of playing surfaces on sport specific injury mechanisms.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of whole-body vibration training on the flexibility and agility of professional soccer players. Methods: Sixteen professional soccer players participated voluntarily in the study. Subjects were allocated to two groups: the experimental group received whole-body vibration (WBV) and team training, and the control group received only team training. Team training was conducted in 15 sessions of 70 min duration over 3 weeks. WBV training was applied at 40 Hz frequency, 5 sets (1 min-training, 1 min-resting) in a squatting position. Outcomes from sit-and-reach, side-step test, burpee test, and T-test were measured before and after training. To examine pre- and post-intervention differences between the two groups, a paired t-test was used. Independent t-tests were performed to compare pre- and post-test scores and the time difference of the two groups. Results: Significant improvements in sit-and-reach and agility variables were observed in the experimental group (p < 0.05). In particular, flexibility (sit-and-reach) and agility (the side-step test and the burpee test) were significantly different between the two groups (p < 0.05). Conclusion: These findings suggest that whole-body vibration training has a positive effect on performance enhancement for professional soccer players.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of wearing a pelvic compression belt on ball speed and accuracy in instep shoots of youth soccer players. Design: Randomized cross-over design. Methods: We included 20 male junior soccer players with experience of more than 5 years. Participants were randomly assigned to two conditions: application of a pelvic compression belt and instep shooting or no application. Instep shooting was performed three times at a distance of 20 meters from the position of the goal post, and the ball speed was measured using a speed gun at a position 5 meters behind the goal post. The shooting accuracy was measured based on a 5-point scale. The shooting accuracy was measured by scoring 5 points at 2.44 meters in the middle of the goal area of area A, 3 points at 2.44 meters in the goal area of area B, and 0 in the case of shooting outside the goal area C. Results: After applying a pelvic compression belt, the mean speed of the ball was significantly increased (p<0.05). The maximum speed of the ball was significantly increased (p<0.05). The accuracy of the ball was significantly increased (p<0.05). Conclusions: Through this study, we expect that the use of the pelvic compression belt can be applied as a training method to improve the shooting ability of soccer players. Clinically, pelvic compression belts are expected to help rehabilitation soccer players to improve their shooting accuracy.

  • This paper introduces a system for mosaicking sequences of soccer images in a panoramic view for soccer game analysis. The continuous mosaic images of the soccer ground field allow the user to view a wide picture of the players' actions. The initial component of our algorithm automatically detects and traces the players and some lines. The next component of our algorithm finds the parameters of the captured image coordinates and transforms them into ground model coordinates for automatic soccer game analysis. The results of our experimentations indicate that the proposed system offers a promising method for segmenting, mosaicking, and analyzing soccer image sequences.

  • The purposes of this study were to determine the effects of lower extremity plyometric training on the proprioception and postural stability of collegiate soccer players with postural instability. The study was conducted from April 17, 2009 to September 28, 2009(for a total of 6 weeks). Ten male collegiate soccer players were enrolled into the study, then divided into two groups: the plyometric training group(PMT) and the classical postural stability training group(CPT). Plyometric training on the lower extremities showed statistically significant improvement on proprioception and postural stability(p<.05). Although not all neurophysiologic mechanisms underlying such an effect were revealed, it is proposed that plyometric training can be used as an effective training program to improve functional postural stability in soccer players with preexisting postural instability.
