Purpose : Adolescence is a period of growth and development in body structure and physiologic, psychologic, and social functioning. Smoking and drinking in this period are very harmful and may lead to other forms of substance abuse. We surveyed the actual aspects of smoking and drinking among Korean adolescents and analyzed associated factors. Methods : A survey was performed among adolescents using a questionnaire about smoking and drinking. Data were collected from students who visited pediatric clinics for routine school examinations from July to November 2007. Results : A total of 2,546 adolescents (smoking 1,512; drinking 1,034) participated in the study. The overall smoking and drinking rates were 29.2% and 48.2%, respectively, and the mean age at the first instance of smoking and drinking was 13.8 and 14.1 years, respectively. Among drinking adolescents, 30.1% were offered a drink by their parents, although most adolescents were encouraged to smoke or drink by their friends. Dissatisfaction with family and school life, economic status, and school performance was associated with a higher smoking and drinking rate (P<0.001). Broken families were associated with a high rate of smoking, but peer satisfaction was not related to smoking or drinking. The frequency and amount of smoking and drinking in adolescents were as high as those in adults. Social sanctions seemed insufficient to keep adolescents from smoking and drinking. Conclusion : Adolescent smoking and drinking are highly influenced by family and school environments, so more active social sanctions are required, including parental involvement and legislation preventing adolescents from smoking and drinking.

The purpose of the study was to analyze smoking impact factors, knowledge about effects of smoking and effects of oral health-related quality of life. The subjects were 165 male dental clinic visitors. The survey was conducted from November to December 2018. The examinations were smoking impact factors, knowledge about effects of smoking on oral health, oral health-related quality of life, and recognition of smoking cessation support in dentistry. Survey data were analyzed using statistical programs of PASW Statistics ver. 18.0. Smoking groups were more stressful than non-smoking groups(13.0, 9.97) and drinking frequency was higher(2/week, 0.96/week)(p<0.05). Smoking had a significant correlation with stress(r= .283, p<0.001) and stress with OHIP(r= -.263, p<0.001). Regression results show that stress and frequency of drinking are significant factors(p<0.05). Smoking cessation support service was recognized by 32.9 %, but experience of service was only 19.4 %. Smoking cessation support of dentistry was answered positively by 65.5 %. The above results reveal the need for stress and drinking control, oral health education, and active support of oral health professionals for smoking cessation.

Of the subjects 15.6% were cigarette smokers, 30% were non drinkers, 20.8% exercise regularly, 53.7% sleep for seven to eight hours a day, 48% had proper body weight (BMI) 20-25) and 20% had physical examination in the past two years. The scores of health practices were higher in male students than female students (P 0.05). Perception rates of university clinics were higher in female students than male students. (P 0.01). Many students have intention to use the clinics (P 0.01). On health promotion program 35.2% of the subjects used clinics for emergency service, 32.8% participated in drinking control program, 32.8% in smoking cessation program, 20.4% in immunization program and 19.2% in regular health screening program. This study aimed to know the association between health practices(Alameda 7) and health state according to Sasang Constitution. We recruited 204 subjects whose age were between 10 and 80, excluding individuals who have physically or psychologically serious diseases, and women in pregnancy among Korean population in Traditional Korea Clinics. They were diagnosed by Sasang constitution specialists and confirmed clinically with Sasang constitution drug response with past medical records. We used the 36-Item Short Form Health Survey(SF-36) to estimate health state related with quality of life. We statistically analyzed association using SPSS 17.0K for window. According to Sasang Constitution, smoking and exercising were associated with health degree in Tae-eumin, smoking, drinking, diet and snacking in So-eumin, and past smoking, drinking, sleeping and exercising in So-yangin. These results suggest that there are different health practices for health promotion according to Sasang constitution. Therefore we have to consider the differences of Sasang constitution in health care plan.
Objectives: This study was conducted to investigate dental hygienists' knowledge of smoking, attitudes toward tobacco cessation, and tobacco cessation education activities, which will serve as fundamental data for developing an effective tobacco cessation education program for dental hygienists. Methods: From 2020-08-17 to 2020-09-05, 184 dental hygienists working at dental clinics and hospitals in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do were surveyed. We performed t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analyses. Results: Dental hygienists' smoking-related knowledge, expert attitudes toward tobacco cessation, and tobacco cessation education activities were all high in tobacco cessation education (p<0.05). According to the analysis of the dental hygienists' knowledge of smoking, attitude toward smoking, and correlation of tobacco cessation education activities, there was a significant amount of correlation (p<0.01). According to the analysis of factors affecting dental hygienists' tobacco cessation education activities, expert attitudes towards tobacco cessation (𝛽=0.434, p<0.001), tobacco cessation materials (𝛽=0.160, p=0.009), experience in tobacco cessation education while attending school (𝛽=0.152, p=0.010), and attitudes toward tobacco cessation (p<0.05) were statistically significant. Conclusions: The results of this study are utilized as fundamental data to develop an effective tobacco cessation education program, factoring in dental hygienists' attitudes toward tobacco cessation.
Objectives: This study was conducted to analyze problems and priority of university health services through analysis of health promotion programs and administrative system of university health clinics. Results: 160 schools were included in the final analysis. The most common name of university health clinic was 'health clinic' (35.2%), and heads of 52 university health clinics were non-medical school professors. 20.9% of the school provided details of the rules and implement guidelines of health care service. Health promotion services of university health clinic were set the non-smoking area (90.6%), health counseling (81.8%), providing health information (74.8%), health check-up (65.4%), health education (61.4%), partnership with health institutions in a community (61.4%), and immunization (48.1%) in order of that. Conclusion: It is urgent to establish the regulatory and guidelines for university health clinic. The purpose of this study is to improve the oral health after understanding the usage status of oral health items and to conduct active guidance for prohibition of smoking. The survey of 326 visitors for continuous oral health management in the dentist from April 2nd 2007 to May $20^{th}$ is accomplished. The data is handled from the SPSS 12.0 statistics program and we can get the results like below. 1. The number of people answering the usage of the smooth toothbrush is 64.5% which is higher in smoking peoples than in non-smoking ones (p < 0.001). Non-smoking people 61.4% answering '3 minutes more' per brushing their teeth is higher than smoking respondents. 2. The more used device is the interdental brush by non-smoking people 36.7% than smoking ones and the answer. 3. The percentage answering 'recommendation in the dentist' in the question about the motive using the oral health devices are nearly same in 69.6 % and 67.5% by non-smoking and smoking persons. The most reason not using these devices is 'don't know how to use this' and the number of smoking guys is 38.7% which is higher than that of non-smoking ones(p < 0.05). 4. The percentage of answering 'regular visiting the dentist', the method for oral health management is 28.3% in smoking parts and 35.3% in non-smoking ones which is slightly higher. From this study, the usage and the recognition of oral hygiene devices of the patient with smoking is a little bit lower than those of non-smoking patients and small difference is shown. So public relations of the effects and the necessity of the oral hygiene devices to all people have to be performed and the education and the activity prohibiting smoking are expanded by the dental hygienist based on the understanding of oral health when the patients are smoking or not.
