The concept of Solid-State Fermentation is briefly explained in comparison to other fermentation principles, and several types of fermenters are presented. A recently developed "Swing Reactor" for SSF is shown. When inoculated on rice, the mould Monascus purpureus forms red pigments, Which can be used as food colors (Ang-kak, Red Rice). By Response Surface Methodology, serveral factors have been optimized for maximal red colour formation. Showing that presoaking time of rice, pH of soaking water, age of preculture and inoculum size were not of importance within the observed limits. For a fermentation time of 7 days, start humidity is optimal at 34% and temperature is optimal at 28.8 C. These results of small scale fermentation could be transferred to the Swing Reactor.
Double skin composite element (DSCE) is a novel form of construction comprising two skins of profiled steel sheeting with an infill of concrete. DSCEs are thought to be applicable as shear or core walls in a building where they can resist in-plane loads. In this paper, the behaviour of DSCE subjected to combined bending and shear deformation is described. Small-scale model tests on DSCEs manufactured from micro-concrete and very thin sheeting were conducted to investigate the flexural and shear behaviour along with analytical analysis. The model tests provided information on the strength, stiffness, strain conditions and failure modes of DSCEs. Detailed development of analytical models for strength and stiffness and their performance validation by model tests are presented.
Six small-scale reinforced concrete beam-column joint specimens subjected to monotonic and cyclic loading were tested to investigate the effects of strength of concrete. Variables are 1)compressive strength of concrete(f' c=300, 700kg/㎠), 2)shear span to depth ratio (a/d=4.7, 2.0). The major results of this test were: 1)flexural strength of high strength concrete beam-column joint was not affected too much by the compressive strength of concrete, 2) flexural cracks emerge to inside of beam deeply for high strength concrete member.
Thermal mass flow meter (TMF) is used measuring the small mass flow rate of gases. Generally, flow rate measuring accuracy of TMF is $\pm2{\%}$ of full scale. TMF is manufactured for specified working pressure and specified working gas by customer. If it were applied for different working pressure and gases, flow rate measurement accuracy decreased dramatically. In this study, a TMF tested with three different gases and pressure range of 0.2 MPa to 1.0 MPa. Effect of specific heat cause to increase flow measurement error as much as ratio of specific heat compare with reference gas. Pressure change cause to increase flowrate measurement deviation about $-0.2{\%}$ as the working pressure decreased 0.1 MPa.
This paper describes the structural design and testing for 1.5kW class wind turbine composite blade. In order to calculate the equivalent material properties rule-of-mixture is applied. Lay-up sequence, ply thickness and ply angle are designed to satisfy the requirements for structural integrity. Structural analysis by using commercial software ABAQUS is performed to assess the static, buckling and vibration response. And to verify the structural analysis and design, the full scale structural test in flapwise direction was performed under single point loading according to loading conditions calculated by the aerodynamic analysis and Case H (Parked wind loading) in IEC 61400-2.

The HDP (High Density Plasma) CVD process consists of a simultaneous sputter etch and chemical vapor deposition. As CMOS process continues to scale down to sub- quarter micron technology, HDP process has been widely used fur the gap-fill of small geometry metal spacing in inter-metal dielectric process. However, HBP CVD system has some potential problems including plasma-induced damage. Plasma-induced gate oxide damage has been an increasingly important issue for integrated circuit process technology. In this paper, thin gate oxide charge damage caused by HDP deposition of inter-metal dielectric was studied. Multiple step HDP deposition process was demonstrated in this work to prevent plasma-induced damage by introducing an in-situ top SiH$_4$ unbiased liner deposition before conventional deposition.
An experimental study is performed for extinguishing of n-heptane pool fire by water mist containing potassium acetate as a fire suppression additive. Water mist was generated by a single pressure nozzle in a small-scale chamber. The drop size distribution of water mist was measured using laser diffraction(Malvern particle sizer). The flame temperature, oxygen concentration and carbon monoxide concentration were measured. In case of using additives, the fire extinguishing time was shorter than that of pure water at a given discharge pressure and it was because the momentum of a water droplet containing additives was increased. And also dissociated metal atoms, potassium, were reacted as a scavenger of the major radical species OH, H which were generated for combustion process. Moreover, at a high pressure of 4MPa, the fire was extinguished through blowing effect as well as primary extinguishing mechanisms.
Stainless steel grade 430 with a composition of Fe-17%Cr was corroded in $Na_2SO_4$ and ($Na_2SO_4+NaCl$) salts at 800 and at $900^{\circ}C$ for up to 20 h. It corroded mainly to $Cr_2O_3$, along with a small amount of $Fe_2O_3$ and $Fe_3O_4$. The formed oxide scales were neither dense nor compact enough owing to their ensuing dissolution into the salt during corrosion, which facilitated internal corrosion. Corrosion occurred faster at $900^{\circ}C$ than $800^{\circ}C$. NaCl in $Na_2SO_4$ aggravated the scale adherence.
A Closed-form solution for dynamic response of a functionally graded (FG) nonlocal nanobeam due to action of moving harmonic load is presented in this paper. Due to analyzing in small scale, a nonlocal elasticity theory is utilized. The governing equation and boundary conditions are derived based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and Hamilton's principle. The material properties vary through the thickness direction. The harmonic moving load is modeled by Delta function and the FG nanobeam is simply supported. Using the Laplace transform the dynamic response is obtained. The effect of important parameters such as excitation frequency, the velocity of the moving load, the power index law of FG material and the nonlocal parameter is analyzed. To validate, the results were compared with previous literature, which showed an excellent agreement.

This article investigates the statically analysis regarding the thermal buckling behavior of a nonuniform small-scale nanobeam made of functionally graded material based on classic beam theories along with the nonlocal Eringen elasticity. The material distribution of functionally graded structures is composed of temperature-dependent ceramic and metal phases in axial and thickness directions, called two-dimensional functionally graded (2D-FG). The partial differential (PD) formulations and end conditions are extracted by using to the conservation energy method. The porosity voids are assumed in the nonuniform functionally graded (FG) structure. The thermal loads are in the axial direction of the beam. The extracted nonlocal PD equations are also solved by employing generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM). Last but not least, the information acquired is used to produce miniature sensors, providing a unique perspective on the growth of nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS).
